We arrived a few minutes late, but we were immediately accommodated. Service was attentive, the food was delicious. Love to come here, it is always wonderful. Highly recommend.
Bad food over priced thr meat quality is not fried aged as you claim and it is poor quality meat and poor quality fries it is toursit trap
Good food, lively and friendly atmosphere.
Service friendly but sometimes a little slow
An excellent establishment & good old fashioned service & ambiance will be back
I ordered fillet steak medium rare. It arrived well done and was served with cold fries.
I’ve said no because it would be with caveats.
The food was ok, just the service a bit lacking. We had to ask for more fries, struggled to attract attention and then there was quite a wait.
Given there was a group of seven of us, I’d have expected someone to enquire about fries shortly after serving.
And it wasn’t busy.
Excellent friendly service. Lovely good food, a proper meat-lovers place!
Their 'specialty' Entrecote steak was a bit of a disappointment. It tasted fine but it was very little meat for the price, even in Mayfair. The fries that come with it were decent.
Ambiance was very nice, as was one of the mid range wines by the glass that I ordered. For Saturday evening it felt a bit empty. The service was friendly although the waiters could have done with a bit more training (the waiter serving the fries kept dropping fries on the floor when serving them). I probably won't be back, there are better options in the area.
We arrived late and hungry and were welcomed warmly and served quickly. Steak, chips (bottomless) and spinach - perfect!
An old favourite on the historic Jermyn Street. I’d not been here for years, and a friend suggested we should go for a meal.
Lovely classic dishes, well presented by pleasant and engaging staff members.
It will not be so long before I return again!
You need to offer more sides! No onion rings! No Mac cheese!
Good deal with the steak all very enjoyable
Amazing food - world class service - I’ll be taking more dates here for sure !
Lovely meal and service Cauliflower cheese exceptional
Outstanding, as ever.
Quality food and you always know it will be good quality.
The food was amazing. The host however was not. When we arrived (with a reservation) the restaurant was totally empty. The host proceeded to seat us at the smallest table in the corner. I was with my elderly Aunt and Uncle and a small bistro table would have been too cumbersome. When I asked if we could be seated at a larger table (there were obviously plenty available) the just kind smirked , said something in a different language, and said “sure” ...it was the server who came forward and showed us to a better table. But aside from that , the food was great
Apologies but after a 3rd visit here I have to say Im really not that impressed.
1. Far too quiet, with only a handful of people in there not even some low background music - so in my opinion this does not make for relaxing dining or any type of ambience.
2. The food was cold, it was not freezing, dont get me wrong but it certainly was not hot.
3. When I booked I was not told that we would be rushed. My friend and I were meeting for a catch up and were constantly being badgered to order our food (for lunch, in a restaurant that apart from one other table was empty and in a place that I was lead to believe was open all day, so I thought) the waiter then said - can you hurry please because we want to close the kitchen - REALLY !
4. Pricing, whilst I do not mind paying for good service, good food and a lovely restaurant - this really did not hit any of those points so Im sorry but you have now become over priced because you fail to hit any of the points I mentioned.
5. I watched people turned away from an empty restaurant because they were closing - once we left we decided to visit the local pub round the corner, a couple of hours later walking past the restaurant there were people sitting eating dinner - I dont get it !!!
On all these counts I wont be returning any time soon.
Food was very good. We had chateaubroand and it was very good indeed. Wine selection was limited but we found a nice enough bottle. Service was like a Harvester but perhaps less friendly. For a meal of £230 pounds, I expect a bit more. Had a general feeling we were 'just another customer' and the staff were just going through the motions. Overall, good enough food but I wouldn't recommend this place for a special occasion.
Great location, good prices but the chateaubriand was sadly tasteless. Gaucho or Hawksmoor offer a better quality beef IMO. You get what you pay for! That being said, good value and wines not too expensive for central London. Ideal for a business lunch.
Eaten here many times and it's always good. We had to call for service a couple of times as the staff were chatting. Lamb chops utterly amazing; niece's burger was superb; husband's steak was good. Vegetables lovely. Endless fries appreciated by the niece!
I enjoyed visiting this old-school-style restaurant and the food was as good as I had anticipated. Cold coffee (returned) and a second request for sauces were the only slight detractions from an otherwise good experience.
Really enjoyed the food service was excellent and host was a really pleasant guy
I have been to Rowley's a number of times over the years and always had great food and service. During this Friday night visit the atmosphere was pretty dead and the service really not very good and we were largely ignored by the inattentive staff. The food and bottle of bottle of Good Ordinary Claret were pretty good as always. I am not sure what has gone wrong! There are a lot more newer, larger restaurants in the area now and maybe Rowleys cannot compete with their offer. They certainly were not trying that evening!
Ordered the pie of the day and was expecting a proper pie for my £23, but received a shepherds pie instead. Later learnt that the service charge goes to the owner and not the staff, Which we declined to pay and instead gave the waitress some cash. It was an okay experience overall but I was expecting a bit more.
Service was quite quick, especially for the dessert which I think is always a good sign. Food was hot
We met up with some friends we'd not seen for a while. We were very pleased with the food, service & the restaurant itself. We definitely plan to return.
Lovely place and food was lovely. Had a 2 for 1 voucher for the main meal. That was the reason for going as we didn’t know about the restaurant.
Staff were really lovely and had a chat in Italian with a few.
Thanks for lovely evening. X
Great food very traditional English and typical Jermyn Steet character
We went out just the three of us for a good steak and a catch up. Did the job perfectly.
Very tasty steaks but presentation was a bit unusual. My wife and I both ordered medium rare ribeyes. When the food arrived at the table there was just one cast-iron skillet. The sliced portion initially looked small so we asked where the other steak was? It seems they were both in the same skillet and the idea was to take out your pieces and put them on your own plate. It turned out that there was plenty of food and it was very good.
Excellent service. Reasonable price with good food!
The steak was cold. The prawn cocktail was tasteless.
Food was okay, my mum wanted the steak full done but it was tasteless & dry. There had some staff issues. One of member of staff was doing all the work and simply amazing but the rest was really just standing around.
Always a great experience. We love dining at Rowleys
So many other places around, I wouldn’t waste your time
My last visit to Rowleys was over 20 years ago when it was my go to business lunch restaurant.
I can say it was just as I remember, good classic food with excellent service
Great we will be eating here twice this week, that's how much we enjoy it.
I’ve definitely had better and was disappointed considering its reputation. Service was very slow and inattentive. Food was very average. Won’t be rushing back.
I went with a friend after receiving a gift voucher to enjoy a meal here. The steak was very good and the wine also. My only disappointment was that we were to pay a service charge despite the meal being a gift, which takes away from the concept of a gift.
