We've been to this location many times and have always had good service and food. However, I can't say the same for our recent dining experience. The service was subpar as well as the food. As a matter of fact, we ordered an appetizer that never arrived.
Optional to park your car or valet. Made reservations for a Saturday night the day before (recommended). The service was great. Thanks to our waiter Miguel. I’m not a big guacamole person but thanks to this restaurant I now am. Food was excellent. And yes I love love love food! Desert was delicious. I can’t wait to go back to try some more off that good looking menu.
Some dishes are too expensive. Specially vegetarian enchilada cost $25. We eat many Mexican restaurant and never paid $25 for three veg enchilada which was served without guacamole and salad.
Kind people outstanding service and delicious food! Just love Rosa!
Excellent place. I live far away but go once or twice a year. Always good. Great menu.
Though I still miss the original Rosa Mexicana, now that it's become a mall chain, it still has appeal and the food is very good overall. In particular, the guacamole...still among the best available. The mole enchilada is another standout. My only disappointment relates to the price. Given the portion sizes, it seems unnecessarily steep.
Food and service were excellent. This place was very noisy.
In a nutshell it took way too long to get our water, drinks, food. I just wanted the check to leave. We had a 930 PM seating after a movie with 4 adults and 4 kids. I know that can be busy but the kids complained their food was cold and burnt (simple quesedillas). I will not be returning anytime soon.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and wonderful family time.
Food and drinks were amazing and wait staff was extremely friendly. We weren’t rushed at all and had a great meal.
Howdy. Enjoyed the night and server (and his trainee) very much. They were excellent. Two qualms:
1) I called ahead and asked for a quieter table off to the side (or in the back room) to help with my mom's hearing. I was assured this wouldn't be a problem, but then we were plopped right in the middle of the main room. She had a hard time hearing
2) Enchildas were cold.
Otherwise, we really enjoyed it.
Compared to my last 4 visits over the past 12 months, this has to be the poorest quality food. What happened Rosa Mexicano? I don't know if there has been a change in chefs or management.... But the menu has changed a lot, with many old time favorites missing. The food is so bland now. But Service remains excellent. I'm not sure if our food experience is limited to the weekday lunch special menu. But even the camarones lunch dish... Usually a delight, this time it had a boring taste, almost like air. I think management should try the dishes before committing them to the menu.
Used to be great, one of our favorites. But the new menu is terrible!! There is only one quesadilla option (the worst of the 3 that they had previously) and the tacos are tiny now and not worth it. No more rice and beans with your meal now, and the tacos do not come with a side of corn anymore. Additionally, there is no longer an option to make an appetizer size quesadilla into an entree size. Overall, this new menu will deter us from coming, which is unfortunate since we love the margaritas.
We had a reservation for 6:30, but when we got there, they didn’t have tables ready. They actually did, the restaurant was reserving them for a bigger party later on. They seemed to have a lack of bussers to clean the tables, so it took 15 after our reservation to be seated. Once we were seated and ordering food, I asked a few questions about a tequila flight the restaurant was advertising at the hostess table. Our waitress knew nothing about them. When she asked what they were about, she just sounded more confusing. When we were waiting for our check and desert, it took quite a long time to get it. Food was good, but bad service!
room was to bright for dinner. The waitress was terrible. Drinks were not correct. second round order multiple mistakes. Food took 40 minutes to come out and 3 out of 5 dinners were not what was ordered. Waited 20 min before dessert, we had to finallybask for menus. over all really poor food and service. would not recommend.
Rosa Mexicano used to be our go-to spot for the last 4 years. Unfortunately, recent changes to the food/menu have made the restaurant take several steps back: Tacos from the kids menu are too spicy for kids, tacos from the regular menu are too small and too spicy for adults, the empanadas are soggy, drinks take 20 mins to arrive, food for adults comes before food for kids. It used to have great food but now I don't think we'll be going back.
Loved everything about it. The food was delicious but the service was very slow. Maybe they need more servers. Other than that. Loved it and will go back for date night
First time we were unsatisfied with our overall experience. Both my son's and daughter's steaks had to be sent back twice because they were not cooked as requested. Yes, you did take them off the bill but being my wife's birthday made it an unpleasant dinner. I must add the manager and waiter were very apologetic for the inconvenience and showed professionalism.
Food was very tasty and good. Portion sides were filling. Nice Mexican restaurant. Staff was very friendly and explained that it was a new menu. Planning on going back again.
I wish I remembered my waitress name. She was super nice and tentative if I’m not mistaken her name is Angie. She was on top of everything. Super sweet. Definitely recommend
Food was average. Service was not great. Place was empty. Price was not worth it.
We loved the new menu. We had the vegetarian quesadilla, tuna tacos and mexican lasagna. All were AMAZING. And don't forget the pomegranate margarita!
Good food , drinks and good service.
New menu small portions expensive disappointing from previous visits
Worst dining experience ever. It took an hour and a half for us to get our dinner, which was average at best. Poor ability to accommodate custom requests. Waiter kept screwed up everyone's orders. Manager offered little empathy...wouldn't even discount our bill.
Very busy no guy. But the managers and servers were very helpful and attentive. Bar and drinks were backed up and slow though
They took anything good off the menu and the tortillas were awful. Why does a Mexican restaurant take quesadillas off their menu? Margo’s were good. Go for drinks and chips and stop there. Also the check was stupid expensive.
I have been going to Rosa Mexicano in Union Square and Hackensack for years. Today’s experience was at best mediocre. There was a massive lack of attention to details:
Delayed service; hostess not addressing my concern by telling me that I have to wait; out of empanadas; missing a special anniversary menu appetizer that arrived after the entree; Anniversary entree was cold and the pepper undercooked; overcharged and doubled charged for items on the check;total in paper check and new e-check/ cc scanner didn’t match delaying payment. Too many disappointments in one evening.
And the leftovers were the wrong ones!!! Ugh. A total disappointment.
Although there were few diners in the restaurant, our waitperson was non-attentive and perfunctory
food is the same as in NYC -- the only other place we have been -- but parking is a cinch, especially on a Sunday.
Food was good but service was lacking not attentive.
Table was scratched up and sat us in the back by the kitchen then a table of 2 adults and 3 children that were running around the tables.
The prices are high for the level of service.
The restaurant needs to be redone. Carpet was wet and slippery
Great food & great service! Plus we never felt rushed. We will definitely be back!
The food was so good. They take the Mexican food to a high level. The service is excellent.we love the place
Will never be back. Food was terrible and over priced. We returned the "chefs special".Service terrible. Music was so loud.
Need more authentic tacos in the menu. Change the entire menu. The margarita and guacamole are the best.
The quac was outstanding but even though it looks like a lot...they only use one avocado per bowl....3 of us ordered fajitas and I'm used to them coming out on a steaming plate...this was not the case....I sent back to be reheated. Overall though staff was very kind and the place ran very smooth. Drinks were great and hostess was lovely
The service was absolutely dreadful. Our server did not return to take our dinner orders until after we finished our appetizers. The server did not check on us and we needed to request drinks from the bartender ourselves. The ran out of clean steak knives and we needed to wait for steak knives to finished being cleaned while our dinner had already been served.
It’s a good Mexican restaurant but very over priced.
They were understaffed and we had to wait much longer than we've had to before. Seems to have high turnover at the manager position.
