Romano's Macaroni Grill - UNCC
Unreal experience - there was a fire and took 2.5 hours for Mac and cheese
We saw the poor reviews this restaurant has and we still decided to give it a chance. Immediately upon arrival we noticed the amount of smoke in the whole place, made our eyes watery. Our waitress came to the table 2 times, we asked for items that were never brought to the table, we were waiting for refills on drinks and soup and never came. The soups were cold, the chicken caprese was dry and the salad on the plate was so dark that I would not even serve it to a turtle. My pasta was very salty and the drinks were so sweet that were not drinkable.
Service and food were deplorable.
This was the worst dining experience I have ever had in my life. Went for the Valentine’s Day special with my boyfriend with a reservation for 7:15pm. We were seated at 8:40pm. The whole restaurant was hazy with smoke from something that seemed to have burned in the kitchen. Once seated, we did not see our server for 15 minutes. She did not once fill our water. Our food was room temp and very mediocre tasting. After we were finally done eating, it took 30 minutes to even find our waitress (who was MIA). We left the restaurant at 10:45pm. I will never return to this establishment or any other Macaroni Grill.
Didn’t have a table ready for us basically blamed Opentable the manager wasn’t helpful or nice . Finally was seated at 730
We went here for an Anniversary dinner and it was THE WORST! We made reservations and they still made us wait 40 min to be seated! The staff was seating other people and had an attitude every time we would say something. Making a reservation pointless here! When we FINNALY got seated and ordered... all of the appetizers they were all cold. One of the appetizers didn’t even come out until there food was finished. We also had silverware with dried food on it and stains. I ordered the gluten free pasta and when i got it the noddles were not cooked. I complained and changed it for the salmon. Salmon was cold and burnt. WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!
Made reservations at 8:30 for 4 on Valentine’s Day. Got to restaurant at 8:15. Checked in with hostess who said reservations for that night were invalid because they had taken over 400 reservations for that night so no reservations were being granted & we would need to be put on waiting list for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Luckily, or so we thought, a bar waitress got us a table in bar area. She sat us, then continued to ignore us. It was a busy night granted but she didn’t have to seat us only to ask for our drink order 20 minutes later, then take another 20 minutes just to bring our waters. My husband finally got the bartender to make our drinks on a separate order & he delivered them to our table. 20 minutes after that our food order was taken. Our soups were cold & my soup bowl had residual food left on the inside of bowl. So nasty. 20 minutes after that waitress said she would check on our food. Didn’t see her again for another 30 minutes. Once we finally received our food, it was also very cold because it had been sitting waiting on her to pick it up & bring to us. During the meal, she mentioned that another table ‘up & left without paying’. I assume she told us that to overlook her horrible service or to feel sorry for her. As a former waitress, I can say this was by far the worse service & food I have ever received. We didn’t leave the restaurant until close to 11:00 pm after being seated at 8:20. I understand it was Valentine’s Day but no restaurant should take reservations if they aren’t going to honor them & have their worst waitresses working on one of their busiest nights. The whole thing was very unfortunate. I won’t go back.
My husband and I reserved a table here for dinner on Valentine’s Day. We got there just before our 7:30 reservation time and we’re told there were 2 still ahead of us and there would be a 10-15 minute wait. When we checked after 15 minutes they now said there were 6 parties ahead of us. It was actually about 8:20 when we were finally seated, 50 minutes past our reservation time. We had a really sweet server (Nia) but our appetizer of crispy artichokes was dripping with grease and NOT at all crispy. Our entrees however were very good and the cannoli was also good for dessert. But this was not the relaxing evening we had looked forward to. The management had grossly overbooked reservations and did not have enough staff to cover all the tables. Do not think I’ll go back.
They over booked their reservations so everyone was waiting 30 to 40 minutes past their reservation time. Once finally seated and placed order the food came out cold and not good. I won’t be returning. Horrible experience!
Maybe it was because of Valentine's Day - but the moment we walked in it felt chaotic. The whole place was filled with smoke that burned my eyes. We had a ^:15 reservation and did not get seated till at least 6:45. Took a while for someone to even come to the table...but after our orders were placed the food came out fast. Caesar salads had almost no dressing and the grilled shrimp on them was few and over cooked and dry. Will never go out to dinner on this holiday again....not sure about coming back...
Went on Valentines Day with my wife. Arrived early and had a drink at the bar before being seated.
Hostess was very nice and thanked us for booking with them on Valentines Day. Restaurant was near full but our waitress was prompt and food was awesome as usual.
Enjoyed my time, Dymond was a fantastic server. Do wish my pasta with all the meats in it had more flavor.
Great visit took advantage of the Valentine's special. Service by Jenn was attentive.
Waitress was nice, but that was the only thing, unfortunately. This restaurant needs some ventilation repair and new management. I spent the majority of the middle of the night with extreme pressure in my stomach that I know (but can't prove) came from the demise of Macaroni Grill. I'm so disappointed at the changes since we used to come here years ago.
I have always love eating at Macaroni grill but this last experience will be my last.
The service was poor, the wait time for our food was long and the entire experience was eye opening.
When I made the reservation, I noted that it was for a birthday and it was clear this was not communicated to staff.
Everything was nice and organized. Only complaint was that the room was booked for two parties making it difficult to enjoy.
The bento Liza tip. System in the restaurant was broken and it was hard to breath.
It was the holiday and everyone that showed up for reservations did not have any. Macoroni grill had people with reservations waiting 2 to 4 hours, yes it was a holiday but they should not let you reserver reservations. They said thy no longer use open table for this. or did not but Open table said nothing of this. Imagine hearing people say we were for 4 hours .?? yes it was a holiday but they should let you honor a reservation we were put to 20th on the list when we walked in...... because they were not honoring open table so the resteraunt was good once in but you need to be aware they did not use your reservations on the holiday and I think they said they do not use you anymore but here you are honoring them. get in touch with them. It was totally not good. from that stand point.
Horrible, horrible experience. We made reservations over a week in advance. When we arrived on time for our reservation, we were told by the teenager in charge that we had an hour wait because they were seating first come first served and not honoring reservations. Rather than wait the hour in total chaos with hoards of other people also waiting and frustrated, we returned home to eat frozen pizza as our special Christmas night dinner.
they have to improve there reservations policy there was a lot people there with them and were waiting up to a hour and a half , we left because I was not going to wait that long when making reservations. There was a lot of people standing waiting to be seated and causing a possible fire hazard. I will go back but may not make reservations
We had a reservation for 5pm on Christmas Day. When we got there at 10 minutes to 5pm the place was total chaos. They were not honoring the reservations and it was virtually impossible to talk to anyone let alone a manager. We found out from another patron that they had told him to come back two hours after his reservation and he still could not get in. We left.
We had a 5 pm reservation and couldn't even get to the hostess stand due to everyone that was waiting and had been waiting. We were told reservations meant nothing. There was one person that has been waiting with a reservation since 3:30. We left since we had a 2.5 year old that couldn't wait hours to eat.
We had a reservation for 2 at 4:30pm. We arrived at our reservation time to a crowd even to get to the hostess lectern - where we had to wait 10 minutes to even be able to speak to the hostess - she was obviously overwhelmed and told us it would be 10 minutes before we could be seated. So we waited for 20 minutes observing several parties of 4 being seated and a party of 20 saying they would have 5 more show up. They got seated. The noise was overwhelming - it was hard to hear even 2 feet away. The tables we observed received very few waitress/waiter visits - service was obviously very slow. So we decided to leave when another party of 2 was seated before us.
We will never go back to this location - very poorly run.
Had reservations for, 4:00. Wasn’t seated until, 4:50 and had to speak with the manager. Ordered soon as waitress arrived at table. Salads came 30 minutes later. At 6:00, still no meal. Paid for salad and cocktail and left. The experience was the absolute worst. Will never go again. They were not prepared and did not honor the reservations.
Reserved table for 5 at 4pm never got seated we were there at 4 o’clock hostess said 10mins so we waited ask her again she said 4:30 asked her again she said because you have reservations don’t mean you will be seated first give me 10 more minutes at 5pm we walked out waiting room was so crowded we couldn’t tell her to take us off the list
My family was celebrating my first Christmas in Charlotte with me. I made reservations for six people at 3:45pm. We were seated on time. It took 45 minutes to get water. Our waiter was friendly but incompetent as if he was new. The kids drinks came first. When I asked about our wine aka drinks from the bar, I was told there was only one bartender and our drinks would be free. He told the table next to us the same. I had to ask for bread from another server. I ordered from the 3 course meal menu for $25, but the waiter told my daughter she couldn’t order dessert without an upgrade. We finally got our appetizers and it took another 45 minutes to get the food. The waiter didn’t explain the kids menu correctly, so theirs was mixed up. Our main entrees were cold and uncooked properly, my daughters salmon was returned twice so she changed her order. The alcoholic beverages were included on the receipt and when I asked the waiter got the manager and he changed his story to “ the kids drinks were free” not the adult drinks. That was a given. He tools the manager my drink was bad. She only took of my drink off the receipt. And it was so smoky you could hear the alarm constantly going off and on.
I understand it was a major holiday rush, however, as a business person you should staff and train accordingly. I don’t fault the waiter but the management of this facility.
Came for the Christmas dinner. Made reservations a month in advance for my group to have a table thrown together last minute bc they had taken back too many groups that didn’t have reservations before us. After being crowded in and stared at for 30 mins between other groups our waiter decided to show up and take our drink order. It’s Christmas so everyone in our party was super courteous of the situation. Drinks never came no silverware, food started to come out. We sat with a appetizers and salads for 15 mins before we caught a manager and asked for silverware and drinks. He came back and explained that they had no glasses available. About a hr into the meal we got drinks.
Honestly I just think they didn’t have their act together for a Christmas dinner or for any occasion. We weren’t the only ones before we left I looked around and most tables around us sat without drinks with food on their tables.
Overall a horrible experience.
😡What the establishment was charging the service and the food was awful ! Our waitress was good not her fault . Our party received their food while some of the party did not and the other party sent their food back cause it came out wrong and when it came back it was brunt the appetizers came out wrong as well we dealt with that the sweet tea was unsweet . And it was just awful experience no season on the food just bland.
My food was very good, but my wife's chicken breast came out cold. Service was just okay.
Food was good, service was attentive. A good place for a family dinner!
went here on Christmas Eve '19, didn't even expect it to be open for business as so may restaurants have closed throughout the years - service, food was EXCELLENT . Had the lasagna, it was scorching, bubbling HOT amazing entire party of 6 were satisfied. Staff were super amazing and professional
Mother in laws birthday. First impression was a ripped seat cushion in the waiting area and a very sticky floor. Walking to our table, the floor path was equally sticky. Pretty embarrassing.
i celebrated my daughter's graduation, you guys made it extra specia. thanks
We had a great visit - all 8 of us. We reserved a table and it was perfect. Easy to get in and the food, waitress, and experience was great. Definitely recommend!!!!
The Service was really good and Bria, our server was great. It was a really good way to spend Thanksgiving without family........
They should not try to do a Thanksgiving dinner again. Disappointing. Turkey was dry, gravy sparse, brussel sprouts hard and undercooked, and dressing had a strange flavor and consistency. Salad and cheesecake were fine. Those ordering off their regular menu had a much better experience.
We had a reservation for 6 on Thanksgiving. The first thing our waitress told us was that she didn't want to be there and that she was forced to work. I waited about 30 mins for my drink. Our food finally arrived except for one meal which eventually arrived ice cold in the middle and my husband's spaghetti was not hot either and the meatballs we're tough. The restaurant was clearly unprepared for the evening and should maybe in future sitick to a set menu on a special occasion.
The hood was out for several days and the restaurant was so smokey. We had to sit in the bar area next to the door. If it was not Thanksgiving day we would have gone somewhere else.
all thanksgiving food including the turkey had heavy garlic. stuffing was very watery. I have eaten here before including thanksgiving 2018 ant the food was always good.. This year Thanksgiving the food was not so good. Not what I would call a good Thanksgiving meal. They must have had new cooks!
We took our family to Macaroni Grill on Thanksgiving Day because we weren't cooking till Friday. It was a fun experience and the food was great. Something for everyone in the family! Also, thanks to Charlotte on the Cheap for letting us know which restaurants were open on Thanksgiving Day.
Over all it was a very nice experience. The only thing that was a little annoying was the fact that the place was filled with smoke. I’m not sure what happened before we got there but the front and back doors were open I’m guessing to let the smoke out. Other then that,, we loved it. Thanks and we’ll definitely be back.
