Excellent food and service.
We enjoyed the premium tasting platter which was outstanding. Great atmosphere and service as well and they were very good at bringing things out quickly - sincerely aprreciated as we had our sleeping baby with us and wanted to finish before he woke up!
Great food as always. Tried several of the specials as well which were amazing too.
I've been to ROKA many times. The food is always great and you can't fault it. The attentiveness from the serving staff is normally also excellent, as it was on this occasion. The only gripe on that front is that we already had all of our main dishes before any rice came, and that only came after asking twice, at least ten minutes apart each.
It took a long time for our orders to be taken and we waited a long time for any food to arrive - even the salted edamame, which shouldn't happen.
You can never say that ROKA is good value. You get excellent food but you pay for it.
It was a Thursday night and it was rowdy. There was a large office group under the schochu jars who were there when we arrived and didn't look as if they were anywhere near leaving when we left, but one thing really got our backs up. That was a manager telling us straight after our main courses and before we'd even seen the dessert menu that they needed our table back in 10 minutes.
Nowhere in our booking with OpenTable does it say there was a time limit on our table. If they'd served us faster we'd have eaten faster. There were other tables, such as the rowdy one, which were not pressurised. If they want to have multiple sittings during one evening that is their problem and their risk. Don't spoil the evening for a customer and their guests by embarrassing them with a statement like that. Suck it up. Take the money. They're a successful restaurant which is why I've spent thousands of pounds with them. Don't ever do that again to any customer.
My experience there was horrible. I had a booking for 4 people at 21.45 and called in to say that we were going to be 15 minutes late. The lady at the phone not only was extremely rude but not helpful either. She started by saying that my reservation was at 21.30 and that we were 30 minutes late and the table was not available anymore. I checked my email confirmation and said to her that this was not correct and pointed out that in their own email confirmation they were saying that they will hold the table for 15 minutes. She said that their booking slot where available every 30 minutes and that the system made an error. I said that this was not my fault nor my concern as I booked accordingly. At that point she was getting confusing and said that we could always come and they will TRY to accomodate us. We were very disappointed by the answer and her attitutde but were already on our way. Once there, I explained the situation at the hostess who said that this was fine and that our table would be ready within minutes. 30 minutes go by while I am waiting at the bar and still no table so I went to see the hostess again who said that the table are currently paying and will leave soon. After one hour of waiting I went to one of the manager and tried to explained the situation. He showed me the table and said that he will offer us champagne glasses on the house. Once at the table we were urged by the waiter to order food as he said the kitchen was closing although this was not our fault as we were waiting all this time. He was kind enough to recommend the dishes. When we asked for the bill we noticed that many items that we did not order where added. Two drinks, two bottles of sparkling water and other items that we did not order where there. Have I not checked I would have paid someone else's bill. So for me this place is a NO !
Food is amazing
Impeccable experience. Everything was great and honestly the management was super professional. The staff was friendly and exceptional. And I would definitely visit again. For anyone that goes, make sure to order the fried eggplant & the chocolate and green tea pudding🙌🏼
A very busy and energetic place with a certain level of excitement about it. It was the centrally located grill which gave the place a different atmosphere as the chefs were very busy producing their varied range of dishes. Good ambience overall and the waiting staff were attentive and friendly.
Love it! My fave restaurant In London. Never disappoints
We had a truly wonderful and enjoyable evening at both the Shochu Lounge(Superb cocktails) and in the restaurant. A lovely dining experience and memory.
Food was so so. Nothing to write home about. Tofu was good, and yellow fin tuna top notch. All else mediocre. Service was superb. For what you get value isn't there...
It’s expensive and ok.
Food is average
Service very attentive
Noisy and atmosphere is lacking.
Could not fault food or service. Always wonderful and great value.
If you don't get the banana desert, your missing out! Food is incredible... But that desert is heaven!
The food was very good, as always, but the service was terrible bad...
Posso solo dire che al nostro prossimo passaggio a Londra sarà il primo ristorante che prenoteremo !!!!!
Excellent. The kids loved it too. Everything tasted sublime.
Birthday. Put this on the booking but nothing was mentioned of it
I wouldn’t really expect anything.
We sat next to the windows and it was too drafty as the fold out doors don’t link together.
£90 per person for the tasting menu is far to high when they give you one piece of fish between 3 as the ‘main’ with no rice or vegetables.
This is consistently a wonderful place to eat. It is pricey, but mostly worth it. I have been going here since it first opened. I don't bother ordering sushi/sashimi type things as one can get that elsewhere. There specialities and robata foods are superb. The only thing not to my liking is the noise level. It makes having a conversation with friends prohibitive.
Food while expensive, was pretty good. Good selection and fresh sushi
I've been here three years ago and the food (tasting menu) was amazing. We orderd tasting menu this time but it's just fair.
busy place with nice service, food is good but expensive
Great service !!
I would not go to Roka or recommend it to my friends . The food was tasteless and we ordered lots of varied dishes and could say that we did not enjoy a single dish, not worth the money or experience. I would definitely not go again
Great quality food, good list of drinks and good and friendly service
Roka remains one of London’s best places to eat Japanese food. It also serves excellent wines by the glass - but order promptly because wine service is very slow. It’s not as busy as it used to be and service is patchy as you don’t get a dedicated wait-person but the food makes up for Everything
We had an amazing time at ROKA. We celebrated my birthday with the tasting menu and it was delicious! It takes you to a point where you are perfectly full. The service was amazing, our waiter knew exactly what we need, he was very professional and we had a chance to bond with him.
Roka is one of my Favourite restaurants. Such tasty and well presented food.
The tempura is to die for. Lots of variety too
Service was exceptional and food was cooked to perfection. Great atmosphere and ambiance.
Maybe I was expecting more sushi, maybe the bill was just too much (£90 each with no expensive dish and one bottle of white wine), but it didn’t meet my quality-price expectations. Atmosphere is too casual and service a bit rushed. Sake-no-Hana and Akira are far better choices.
As ever the food in the Shochu Lounge was delicious but considering we only had one Kirin beer, £75 a head was a LOT! Roka is not cheap. However, it is a wonderful setting. Be prepared to drop a lot of cash and you'll be fine...if not be very selective with the menu!
Loved it!!the food was incredible everything we ordered was so yummy and the soft shell crab one of the best things I’ve tasted!
The only downside was the waiter who for some reason noticeably cooled as the meal went on
Started off soo helpful and welcoming and then he really wasn’t happy by the end.. must’ve upset him somehow.
Must’ve learnt his skills in Rome
Anyway I still enjoyed it and will definitely be back
Thank you Roka
Outstanding food and service.
Our waitress Sara was so helpful and friendly, but also very quick. She really reflected the overall attention to quality service.
But great though the service is, the real shining star is the food itself. It has a genuinely unique and modern twist that separates it from anything we’ve had before. The sea bream simply melted in the mouth and was an absolute highlight. There wasn’t one dish that didn’t deliver on flavour and style.
It’s expensive, but certainly worth it. The wine list is probably the only element I would say is not value for money, but the cocktails proved to be better value and pretty well made.
Had a great meal here with friends, lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend
