Roka Akor’s principle Robata Japanese cuisine is prepared on a twelve-foot robata grill that uses mesquite charcoal and almond wood with flames that can raise temperatures up to 1,900 degrees. The restaurant’s name is derived from two words: RO and KA. The meaning of the first word is hearth, a gathering place where people socialize and take in the ambience; the latter stands for a burning fire and projecting energy. In alignment with the restaurant’s name, Roka Akor’s design features a centrally located robata grill that provides the heart of the visual experience, surrounded by rich wood décor and sleek lighting. What a great restaurant! We had so much fun trying great dishes from their extensive menu: beef sushi, grilled squid, miso cod, Korean lamb chops. So many more dishes to try. The service was great. Our waitress was very helpful, explaining the menu and describing the items. Can’t wait to go again.

You get what you pay for here! Service was superb and food was amongst the best I’ve ever had. Literally nothing went wrong and we all ended up having a memorable birthday celebration with complimentary champagne! We will definitely be back soon!

Food was beyond 5 star. The actual table (piece of furniture) didn't quite match the price point of the food and ambiance. It was like a wood table from a diner. To have that amazing quality and style of food and not to not have a table cloth seemed out of touch. The music was a touch loud and club like. The lights needed to be dimmed earlier in the evening. The men's bathroom my husband said was an absolute mess. But aside of those few cosmetic preferences, the food was INSANE! In particular, the rice hot pot had amazing flavor. The Miyazaki steak was like butter, to DIE FOR. The shrimp and Avocado roll was the best roll we've ever had. Will be returning for sure.

Our first visit here. From just entering the restaurant, we felt welcomed immediately. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with a classy, slightly modern vibe. We all opted for the chefs selection as was definitely so thrilled that we did. Everything was truly amazing! All four of us enjoyed everything so much. We will definitely be making this restaurant one that we frequent often.

Amazing. Megan, our waitress, was phenomenal. Everything was cooked and made to perfection. The pork belly is a must, as is the A5 Japanese Wagyu. The managers there are amazing as well, especially Skye. We will continue to come here knowing the experience is flawless.

We did the chef tasting menu which was great. The main downside is the amount of smoke in the restaurant. The warty we had was served on a bamboo mat in ver a smoking pot so the smoke smell only intensified when the dish was served. We left with eyes burning and reeking of smoke.

Better this time since I discovered what I like. Went back for the sirloin and bone marrow. This time i tried the lobster and shrimp dumplings which were delicious. I also had the blue crab roll which was also good. Finished with the tried and true green tea soufflé. Overall a great experience.

This was by far the best restaurant I have experienced here in Houston. Delicious high quality plates, selection of cocktails and great service. We tried the Waygu-empanadas , Lamb-chops , prawn and avocado sushi roll , soft crab shell & lobster roll , one of their desserts, and everything was de-li-cious. Highly recommended.
