I never usually respond to these however - I had eaten at Rococo a couple of times prior to moving to Japan and the experience was enjoyable and the restaurant was 10x more busier - it had been nearly 18 months since I had been to Rococo, from memory the food was really nice. However my experience on Wednesday night was nothing short of horrendous. The floor manager seemed very slick and welcoming however this does not create an experience. A good experience stems from the little things, firstly - the wine glasses. They were so scratched so deeply that you could run your fingers across them and feel the scratch marks that covered all the glasses that we used. Secondly the waitress was embarrassed to return to our table every 10-15 minutes to tell us that what we ordered they didn't have any of it got to a point where I had to ask what they actually had so we could just order something to eat. Thirdly, the Calamari - it was supposed to be grilled - the waitress brought over the two plates to our table in which were so full of juice or liquid that the Calamari had been poaching in under the lamps at the pass it made the calamari slimy.... there was that much liquid it was overflowing as she walked over and it spilt all over our table, I suggest crumbing the Calamari lightly if you are going to serve it this way and drain the juice or what ever the liquid was. Fourthly - we ordered cheesy garlic bread, twice at the start as the waitress forgot. And we were brought over a gigantic plate of normal Garlic Bread and had to remind her that this was not our order, these mistake are typical of an extremely busy restaurant however there was like 6 tables. Although, my Amatriciana pasta was very good.
Lastly, your wine menu needs a revisit.
We were recommended the most INCREDIBLE baked pasta shared hot plate that I would have normally not ordered - and it was one of the best pastas I have ever eaten!
The whole king prawns in a rich tomato sauce with bread to dip in were also to die for. Thanks guys!! What an awesome local. See you again just as soon as lock down is over :)
Loved the food, ambience and great service. An overall perfect dining experience
Great food and super friendly staff. My only criticism is that as a non drinker there isn’t much choice for dessert since most of the choices have alcohol in them
Went there a few weeks ago and the food was excellent. Every single dish excellent. Then we went a few days ago and the food was not good. My husband’s steak quality was terrible - they replaced it with an equally bad quality steak. My pasta was very average as well. And the last time I went it was perfection. So hit and miss it was.
Food was delicious................................
The food was really good, although the macaroni I had was a little bit bland, but the other food I tried was all delicious and flavoursome. The service was alright, but not as attentive as it could have been. I would definitely go back, although I think it is a bit expensive for what it is.
Kiara was a fantastic waitress, extremely attentive and polite.
Maximum 20 diners Permitted at the moment so noise level & service excellent! Food consistently good.
Quiet but not silent. Excellent yet unobtrusive service. Spacious and comfortable, with excellent food and good value for money
Really enjoyed our dinner at Rococo Hawthorn. Great service, huge variety of choices for meat eaters and vegetarian/vegan. Very refreshing. Highly recommend. Food is delicious!
We’ve been here a few times and love the pasta dishes and wines here. In the past the atmosphere has sometimes been affected by having too many people in the room. Coronavirus restrictions actually helped the ambience, whilst the quality of the food is still the same, if not better!!
Loved the delicious food and great, friendly service. Will go back.
Everything was perfect. My lunch was amazing !!! I had the seafood pasta.
Absolutely a fantastic experience, we are returning again shortly.
Great venue, great food, good variety. Perfect spot to catch up with family or friends.
AMAZING staff attendance and always happy to see us. If you like faboulous pizza and pasta done perfectly then this the restaurant to go to. Never disappoint oh and the espresso martinis are the bomb!
Food was fantastic and staff super friendly and prompt service!
Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere. Have told family and friends to try it.
Thank you for a lovely meal. Food and service were both great.
Whether you love Italian food or not, Rococo has an extensive menu to suit all tastebuds. They do not have a seperate gluten free menu or even specify what is g/f which was unusual with the food allergies and intolerances of today’s world. The customer service was exceptional. Due to the current Covid restrictions which was handled in a very professional manner the restaurant itself was quiet and intimate. You can have a decent conversation without shouting.
excellent service from friendly staff, and food was great. Vegan menu is a real winner!!
The food was delicious and good value, we had three courses and were happy with everything! Would definitely recommend eating here! Service is alright but they don’t seem to designate one server to your table which I think can get a little confusing!
I dine here frequently and I am never disappointed
We had to wait 15-20 mins to be seated even though the booking was done well in advance....side plates weren’t step for 5 people and had to ask for plate n cutlery’s after the order came !
Food was good but we had to hurried ordering as kitchen closed soon after we were sat down which we wasn’t our fault as they got us in late !
EXCELLENT food. Service was okay. It was very cold and quiet as they could only have 20 people. We will come back for the food. Delicious.
The best menu of any Italian restaurant in Melbourne. It doesn’t matter what you choose it will seriously be amazing. The staff are also super friendly and very good at their jobs. I’ve been coming in for years and years and every single time it is always just as wonderful.
We have been regulars at Rococo for some years and we were delighted to return after lockdown to find that nothing has changed. The same wonderful food, service which is attentive without being intrusive or overly familiar, a quiet noise level (because we go there to have serious conversations) and the same bright, open outlook through large windows. I am so glad you are back!
My sons 20th birthday and he wanted seafood pasta so it was definitely Rococos.
Yummy food. Great place for bigger groups or a low key lunch
Great food, great service
We are glad Rococo is open for in-house dining again. We had a very pleasant evening.
The service is always incredible here. Everytime I go I feel I have to leave a tip purely out of appreciation. Attentive without being to present. The food is absolutely magnificent and the fact that they have a whole vegan menu makes it a very welcoming place for me and my partner to dine at
I really used to like Rococo Glenferrie road and used to go there often as I lived near by. This visit was after a while (as we moved out quite far), took my Mrs for dinner on Women's day, as she quite liked this restaurant as well.
Had to wait for a table for approx 30 mins even with a 8pm booking. Waited and waited for someone to look at our table, and eventually someone noticed. Had to ask for water for the table (this is a fine dine right!!, aren't you suppose to get water, napkins, cutlery already arranged on your table).
About 9.10pm we got our food, The food was good but not as much as it use to be. I had to call the waiting staff for few extra things multiple times, as I don't think they remembered the first time I asked. I finally had to go to the counter and ask again.
The service was really poor, couple to the staff really behaved in a very arrogant manner (often giggling amongst each other while looking at us). Again, this is suppose to be a fine dine but overall we had bad experience, considering the service and with the rates, additional 10% surcharge on Sunday and credit card surcharge etc.
We won't go there again, and sorry but won't recommend to anyone.
Hopefully their St Kilda restaurants are still good.
The food was great but the staff were not attentive.
You need to try the vegan macaroni bake !! Absolutely to die for and so well put together ! We are from Adelaide and I would drive to Melbourne again just for that dish !
Had a lovely night out, food was very good and was efficiently served. It was a bit too noisy but considering it's such a large room it is to be expected.
Food is always delicious, the service is great, and they always let you know if there is a wait on food.
We always enjoy the food and drinks at Rococo but this time a meal was brought out at least 20 minutes after the other meals on our table. We had to ask two wait staff to find the meal and it eventually arrived but the rest of the table had finished eating so it was an awkward experience.
Might need to check if they have GF bread before going...given limited range of choice not being able to enjoy Rococos exceptionally delicious GF bread was disappointing on this particular visit.
