Great setting, absolutely fabulous food and service.Long time since I had such an outstanding meal and will be going back to eat the menu
Had a "fancy" dinner here with my 9yo son. We both love Masterchef and we wanted to experience a fancy food experience. We both loved the tasting towers!
We went on short notice on a weeknight. Staff very knew about the food, ingredients and taste. Tasting banquet was very good with a range of dishes including seafood.
Yellow Thai curry ... need I say more !!!!! Don’t understand why you need 50 or more ??
Staff were knowledable about the food and wine they were selling. They were a little rushed as there was a big group in at the time. Food was fantastic and wine recommendations were well received.
Our dining experience left a bit to be desired on the night. We have had better experiences on previous visits. Service needed more attention.
This was a great choice for a special celebration – in this case our Twelfth Wedding Anniversary. The ambience was wonderful and for once was not ruined by nearby diners either speaking at high volume or ditto on their mobile phones and tablets. The entrée menu was original and imaginative and consequently we ordered several entrees to share instead of ordering a main course. What a wonderful decision that was – the food was delicious and in a mixture of tastes and textures to please the palate.
Wonderful atmosphere especially in one of the two vault rooms. The restaurant has made excellent use of an historical bank in the main street of Bendigo. Quality drinks especially the house martini - what a special drink this was. Excellent choice of local and international wines , local produce used for the food and exceptional professional staff who tended to every need .
Elegant ambience in a building that retains its' historical flavour. Professional Modern service. Delicious wine. Superb food. And very comfortable chairs.
Great food, great service, very convenient for parking or taxis travel.
The staff were very polite, efficient and friendly.
We are from Nelbourne and this was the first time we had dined in this restaurant. We have been to great restaurants in Bendigo, Masons, Mr Beebe, just to name a couple, as my son lives here. We were so disappointed in the service, the staff were friendly enough just inefficient. The food was cold, very ordinary and expensive, although the menu read well. I am happy to pay a price for fine dining however this was far from that.
Had the set $35 lunch, very impressed with the food & service. Lovely venue & excellent value
We had a fantastic night. Our waiter was sensational. I dropped $100 on the floor and the waiter (black hair with beard) found us at the Wine Bank to give me my money back. So kind and will be recommending Rocks based on the outstanding service by this waiter and the amazing food.
Unfortunately the food tasted nice, but it was served on a cold plate so my meat and potato was cold. My husband commented his meat was cold on the cutting board. Not quite up to La Carte standards!
Went to Bendigo for a day trip to art gallery & long lunch at R on R. Food was creative and tasty. The chef substituted a dish for us to avoid meat and every course of the social menu was delicious. Highly recommend
Had a lovely dinner for our wedding anniversary. Thank you to the team for great meal and wonderful service.
Staff attentive and friendly. Food was excellent however I felt the specials were a little expensive compared to other restaurants. The bank has been nicely restored however was in the cool side.
Great personal service. The $35 lunch menu is lovely, includes a glass of wine. Local Bendigo Glenwillow rose wine was amazing and such a good match for all the dishes.
Favourites were scallops, mushrooms in truffle and buffalo haloumi. Will be back again!
Great staff, great food, beautiful place. A real pleasure to go there.
A birthday for my wife and the meal was outstanding. It was a great night in the vault and I would highly recommend it as one of the top eating plkaces in Bendigo.
Beautiful food. We had the roaming menu with matched wines. Couldn't fault it. Even food I'd normally avoid, I tried and loved it!
Also the service was great. Lovely wait staff happy to answer any questions with good humour. Fantastic.
Nice ambiance and good wine list
like the share plate idea and good selection
My husband and I booked a table for two on 28/4/18 to celebrate my husband's 77th birthday Through no real fault of the restaurant it was a dreadfully noisy atmosphere. So much so that we could not hold a conversation across the table.
My husband ordered a steak $58....of which a fair amount was bone ( we expected this) but felt value for money was very poor. The same applied with my lamb backstrap, which was very
" Chewy" The breadcrumbs on top were tasteless. There were no seasonal vegetables offered and included in the overall price.
The wine was overpriced.
Finally,we decided to try to make up some ground with the strawberry cheese cake. What a disappointment that was!! A few crumbs scattered around the plate..a rectangle of nothing that even came close to a cheesecake, and a couple of teaspoons of rhubarb topped with a slice of strawberry added to this very ordinary sweet.
I will say that out waiter ( Troy I think)was very attentive..
Overall, an expected special dinner was a very ordinary ,but expensive experience.
We have eaten at Rocks on Rosalind before, and that was the reason we booked again..But " never again for us"
As a vegetarian it was nice to have a separate vegetarian tasting menu. Unfortunately the food was not particularly inspiring and was poor value for money given the tiny serving sizes. Dessert was the standout course, we particularly enjoyed the raspberry sorbet.
Again the most amazing meal !!!!!!
Always look forward to our special Occasion meals !!!
We had a fantastic night at Rocks on Rosalind. I love a menu where I can't decide what to order because everything sounds delicious. Excellent wine list with a small selection of "by the glass" including a GSM blended by the restaurant team themselves. Cocktails are a speciality - some of the best I've had including an excellent "Dirty" Martini. Pretty good entree selection including Pork Buns and Peking Duck Pancakes as well as classic French inspired dishes. The steaks were amazing - fierce competition for another Bendigo restaurant gem - The Woodhouse. I shouldn't have ordered dessert but couldn't resist a tasting plate, accompanied by a glass of PX. Highly recommended restaurant. It can be slightly noisy in the middle section of the dining area but we were in one of the side rooms which only had 2 or 3 tables in it, and we enjoyed being able to hear each other easily. A final "gold star" to our waiter and to the restaurant manager who did a great job in ensuring that we had a wonderful night.
For a flying visit to Bendigo we chose Rocks on Rosalind from a number of great sounding places in Bendigo to eat - a bit fancy but with better service and not as snooty as another well known place there. It was very good. Main courses were great - Spanner Crab angel hair was my choice and the vegetarian pasta met the needs of a quite particular teenager - but the pork buns for entrée were a bit tasteless and the bun not as fluffy as I have had elsewhere. The MD was very effusive in his assistance with choosing wine and was gracious in taking back a bottle of wine he had recommended to us that did not meet our tastes. I had a great funky XPA beer there too. If we lived in Bendigo we would be back!
Great little hideaway downstairs, great food. Good service.
Amazing food and attentive staff, made for a great night
We were there, for diner, with clients. We had the "Tasting Menu" and have not been disappointed. The food was well presented and fresh. The service was great. The cocktails delicious ! I would definitely recommend the restaurant and will surely book a table again should we have the occasion to return to the historic city of Bendigo.
Wonderful experience, friendliest of staff, great night of dining
Had a lovely time at Rocks. The service was excellent and very friendly. The food was lovely. I would highly recommend.
Good value lunchtime tasting menu. Attentive waiting staff. Pleasant atmosphere and interesting venue in what looks like a converted old bank building.
The overall dining experience was fantastic. The waiters that served our table where fantastic, friendly and helped with the fussy eaters, they were very helpful with food choices but also with wine recommendations. The food exceeded expectations and we left feeling very full and satisfied, we came in with the expectation that we were going to need a trip to maccas drive through afterwards and that was definitely not the case.
We were very impressed and satisfied, so much so we couldn't help but tip the remainder of our vouchers. Thank you very much!
The meal was fantastic, more than you would expect from regional dinning; a credit to the chef. However some subtle elements were missing. For example, linen tablecloths in the old 'vault' would have created a heightened experience. In the bathrooms, we were surprised to find liquid soap commonly purchased at supermarkets in the racks; more disappointing was to find it was watered down so it would go further. This is a great restaurant for a business dinner but not a romantic dinner to make the ultimate impression. Think about changing the lighting in the vault to create more of an intimate ambience, think dimmers and perhaps candles on the tables.
Terrible experience for my birthday which I was really looking forward too! 😥 Booked a table at 7.15 and had to wait in the bar to be seated until 8pm. Ordered steaks which came out an hour later at 9pm, waiter told us the steaks took so long because they had to rest? Told the staff how unhappy we were and may as well been talking to a wet mop. Have been here before, but will not be back after this experience.
Such a fabulous way to celebrate International Women's Day 2018, with my 96 year old and 89 year old father. Finn is a born communicator who is clearly passionate about his restaurant and staff; and with good reason. I have celebrated a birthday here before in the bank vault, and joined in on an 18th celebration in the cellar and have never been disappointed. Their GF options are terrific too - and their chocolate tasting dish is to die for.
Very pretentious, poor service, real middle class snobbery.
The waiter was more concerned with returning to the bar to send massages than on providing service.
Food was good but not good enough to put up with that crap - I am, after all, the customer who pays his wage - reality check folks
The meals were absolutely devine quick friendly service and so polite. It was a beautiful setting and great cocktails. My friend and i had an excellent night with this experience and meal starting the night off great.
Excellent food, outstanding service. Another memorable dining experience.
