Rocks on Rosalind
Going out for lunch was a treat for us. We enjoyed the food and the service.
I haven't been to Rocks for quite some time, so was looking forward to the night. We opted for the $65 pp, and we were all disappointed. It was very meat heavy, not balanced enough with salad or veg (in hindsight we should have ordered sides). Certainly a spread of scallops, calamari, beef brisket (least favourite), pork belly (mostly fat) and then two plates of salmon (we barely touched one plate) on a cabbage type salad which we also didn't eat very much of. There were corn fritters earlier as well which were enjoyed. The "taster" of dessert was barely that, a slice of something being the size of a quarter slice of bread between 2 people. Re service, the young staff were friendly, however when we were wishing to order another drink, the man who I think was head waiter just stood and looked at me whilst I was trying to attract his attention. Maybe it wasn't his job to come over, and after he didn't seem interested, I caught the eye of a young man who came over promptly (the restaurant wasn't full) and helped us out. I rarely write reviews, and I appreciate not all venues can be 10/10 every time, but I won't be heading back to Rocks in the near future, nor would recommend at this time. There are many other venues in Bendigo that are excellent to choose from.
We ordered the streets menu. The selections were fine and very much what we were happy to eat but the way they were served at the table made zero sense. We were served the roast pumpkin with nothing else so as your eating it your not enjoying it with any other food we had in our selection. The next lot of dishes that came out was a bowl of rice and a plate of beans (far to spicy, and were not made aware of this on the menu). We ate some of the beans but left the rice as we assumed that would be eaten with the Thai green curry that was also on the menu. The curry come out 35 minutes later. So our rice was left untouched.
My chicken had a piece of steel wool in it, looked like a bit of bristle off a cleaning brush. The waitress we told asked us if we wanted to inform the chef, rather then apologising and telling us she would inform them.
2 dishes were placed in front of us, to then be quickly removed and taken to the table next to us. They appeared to be having the same issues with the waiting staff as there food was removed several times and then brought back a different plate.
We had to ask several times for a glass of water and to see the drinks menu. Our plates sat in front of us for 20 Minutes before we decided to get up and leave.
We would've loved dessert but the lack of service left us bored and wanting to go home.
Overall a very disappointing evening for somewhere that I've been to in the past and has been quite tasty. Not sure if the Asian inspired food is up to scratch for such a fancy restaurant
20th Wedding anniversary dinner.....arrived at 7pm....chose the 'Feed Me' option advised we'd like to match wines to the courses and excitedly ordered cocktails.... we were only a few sips in our cocktails and the first dish arrived. Phew....would have liked some time to sit and chat and to have a wine with the dish. We asked that the next course be delayed....maybe 10 mins later the next one arrived.....still no wine and still just finishing the cocktail and 1st course....Asked again for the kitchen to slow up a bit......Alas, the next dish appeared about 10 later, closely followed by the next 2 !!!!!!......we had 3 bloody meals on the table, there wasn't a spare inch.....we shifted 2 of them to the next empty table.....we'd already asked 3 times for the meals to be slowed, but clearly the wait staff had no control over the kitchen.....they were clearly embarrassed by it and must have been powerless to do anything about....they dropped the meals and scurried away as quick as possible each time least we complain gain.....by this time our great night out of celebration is in tatters.....We implored again for a break.....We were full and bloated at having to consume the 5 starters/entrees back to back and got a further shock when getting close to finishing the last of the entrees to be presented with a bowl of fat chips that we were advised were part of the main dish!!!!!.....it duly arrived in another 5 mins by which stage the chips were cold and pretty much inedible....we'd given up on the idea of further complaining as they'd fallen on deaf ears all night.....I can elaborate further if you're interested.....Overall a total disaster. Decided that I would pass on my thoughts on paying the bill as almost without fail, the standard question is...."did you enjoy your night".....however, the Maitre D obviously fearing some negative feedback quickly advised $250 and fleeced my card as quick as a shot and disappeared without question....Incredibly disappointing night !
Unpolished, missing the mark and unappealing menu. Beautiful space but very quiet at peak time on a Saturday night with only 3 tables occupied in the huge space. The staff were trying hard to accommodate but are all very young and come across as inexperienced. Unfortunately the food and ambience doesn’t make the price worth it, wouldn’t recommend.
It was a Monday and last orders, so was very quiet, but the staff still looked after us and did not hurry us out.

Took my wife out to lunch and was impressed with the service, and then even more impressed with the food. I enjoyed the playlist and found the atmosphere to be great. The only improvement that could have been made was the air conditioners weren't turned on, and it was a touch warm next to the Windows. However, this is definitely a place we want to come back to.

Food was okay but not as good as last time we were here. Wait staff were attentive but did not seem to want to be there. Did not appreciate rubbish bin being walked through restaurant during service.

Food and Service was excellent. Lovely atmosphere, great value for money would definitely go back for sure.
Very disappointed in the quality of the sirloin steak at $38 .. was not tender and with no dedicated steak knife ... found difficult to cut. In my opinion was a little dry without an accompanying jus or sauce
Meals were ridiculously small and certainly didn’t match the price. Dessert was tasteless and bland. Unfortunately we left hungry after spending $138.00. The setting and service was good but value for money wasn’t.
We had a lovely evening. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. The meals came out quickly and the food was delicious. The servings were generous. We had trouble deciding on what we wanted to eat as all the options were very appealing. We will definitely be returning.
Disappointed in the service when one of our dishes was completely forgotten! After asking for this 3 times, we gave up. They apologised and offered a reduction in our bill. Very disappointed however.
Great place for a quiet birthday dinner.

Enjoyed the wide selection of small platters with a number of Asian choices.
Will come up from Castlemaine again.

We waited 30 minutes for a glass of water. The selected wine was incorrect and the main course starters did not include any greens. The final bill was incorrect.
The Enhlish family on the next table were served the entrees and new waitress ( just started and not mentored by management) was many mistakes which the manager blamed on another function which resulted on the main course being demolished. I do not blame them for leaving without their main course. The young wiatress was in tears. ONE STAR.
We have eaten here on other occasions and couldn’t fault it. On this occasion it was very different. The steak and ribs were tough to the point I had marks on my hands from the serrated knife that I was using trying to cut the meat. My husband had the same problem with his rack of lamb. We will probably never eat there again. On a positive note though our waitress was brilliant.
Unfortunately my husband was really looking forward to the steak which he has had before but this time it did not fall off his knife. Last time the steak was that tender you didn't need a knife. This time a steak knife would have helped but was not provided. Having said all this, my daughter and I had lovely meals and my daughter is still raving about the pork belly.
Thank you for a lovely night out and for making our daughters 13th birthday memorable. We will be returning.
The building is beautiful and worth a visit to see the heritage. The staff were inexperienced, we were greeted with “are you right?” And when we asked about how many courses the chefs selection was we were told it was “as much food as we can give you for $75”. We ended up being overcharged for the $75 per head meal because the dessert we were told was included in the price was not. The savoury dishes were all interesting and flavoursome and very enjoyable. The desserts were very hit and miss and unfortunately mostly miss. We had the dessert platter or selection of several things. The elderflower panacotta has zero taste of elderflower. It was a pleasant ‘plain’ pannacotta none the less. The banana and baileys parfait ice cream sandwich thing did not taste at all like banana or baileys. We had to look up what we were supposed to be tasting. The blueberry dome was supposed to have some kind of citrus marmalade and sable biscuit we could not find, but the blueberry flavour was nice. The other desserts were nice but not outstanding. It was a disappointing finish to the meal.
We had the street food sharing menu. First four dishes were delicious. However, food did come out very quickly. More time between each one would have been better. All dishes were pretty good except the Papaya salad was terrible. Tasteless.
The green curry at the end was served as a Maryland which is difficult to divide between 3. Would suggest 3 small thighs would be easier for diners to share.
Service was ok, although several times different waiters asked the same thing eg. Dessert menu.
Could have been more attentive in providing drinks when glasses were empty.
Also the toilets really need an upgrade. They were smelly and could easily seen done on the very cheap with poor workmanship.
Also think it is a bit confused in terms of is it a high end restaurant or more an everyday dining experience. The building and menu say special occasion but the cutlery in the bucked and worn cafe style tables say casual dining.
we had a hankering for peking duck whilst in Bendigo and we found RoR online. We were NOT disappointed! Great food, great atmosphere and super attentive staff. Would go again for sure.

Excellent service & sensational food. I have dined here before when visiting Bendigo, so booked for my mother's birthday when I visited from Queensland, knowing it would be great. Did not let me down. 😍👍
Very disappointing service and food. Value for money was very very poor. This place has really gone downhill, we won’t be back. A pub meal would have been better.
The food at Rocks was outstanding - it was an experience to remember in a unique setting. Worth a trip to Bendigo just for this
We really enjoyed our lunch at Rocks, the staff were most attentive and the food was delicious.
We came to see Wayne Jury and were somewhat surprised at the lack of patronage. The food was interesting, squid with like a pickled vegetable, which was nice and the pork belly was great as an entree, but then the pork belly was the bed for the Barramundi, it didn't work and there was nothing to cut between it... The Porterhouse was well cooked, but half of it was a lump of grizzle. Overall we had a nice night and music was fabulous, not too loud.
Amazing Food and the staff were fabulous!!! We brought an overseas guest and she loved it. Would Definitely recommend.
A really lovely setting in the old bank vault which was nice and private too. The meal was delicious, timely and the amount was sufficient for a party of 6... great cocktails to start what was a wonderful and enjoyable evening, thanks to all
Overall an ok experience. Food was ok, music was too loud for a fine dining experience.Service was excellent.
Food was fantastic, great flavours and beautifully presented, but the service was appalling, struggled to get drinks, waitress didn’t know the menu and that is the reason we won’t be returning again.
Enjoyed a delicious dinner in the private vault room. Lovely staff and great service.
Only my second time at Rocks and it was a Sunday night so not as busy. We ordered pretty much straight away, the food came out super quick and couldn’t fault anything. Will definitely be going back soon! Loved it
Food was lovely, service was very good. Thursday afternoon (1:00pm) is a great time to book if you want a quieter experience in the main dinning area.
