The restaurant is located adjacent to the main dining room, the Bar features an extensive list of cocktails, wines by the glass and a dedicated menu.
Rockpool is set in an old marble lobby of an insurance firm, the food is great and Neil Perry does a great job.
Had absolutely no service or acknowledgment after sitting for 20 minutes with a glass of water poured by the maitre d’. At least one other table around us was having the same problem. Finally, the other table got served even though they came in after us. Waiter finally approached and I complained about the very inferior service. He didn’t seem too concerned, and I didn’t foresee the situation improving with his attitude, so we left. On the way out, complained to the hostess who said nothing-just stared at us. Apologies are hard to come by at Rockpool! And so is staff training, apparently. Can’t imagine the food is much better. Try Bennelong if you have an important occasion.
What an exceptional experience! The service was outstanding and every bite was heaven!
I could not recommend Rockpool more highly and we can't wait to go back
except for the crab pasta which was a bit too salty , the rest of the dishes were very delicious.
Amazing food. One of the best meals I’ve had in Sydney! Great service and a beautiful dining room. Definitely a great place to celebrate.
Of the six steakhouses we’ve tried this month in Sydney, this is hands down the best. Talented and attentive servers and wine steward. Good food and wine. Comfortable, relaxing lighting. Beautiful architecture/interior design. All around a great experience.
Food was excellent and service was wonderful. It was a great experience for my brother and I.
It’s the typical high end steak house. The steak was wonderful. Otherwise, high prices and nothing extraordinary. It took 20 minutes to flag someone down to get our check at the end.
Our server and som helped us navigate the vast menu and helped us make decisions on our amazing meal
I won’t go into the several service disappointments, but the food was excellent—at least for the dishes that we ordered and they delivered.
The staff were all very courteous and knowledgeable of the offerings.
The food was delicious however a tad too salty for my taste.
The meal and service were great.
However, the dining room was way too warm and improperly air conditioned making the overall experience less enjoyable than it should have been.
Overall it was delightful other than the register not working at the end of the meal so we had to wait for a bill... but otherwise it was really good with attentive staff and a delicious meal
We had a wonderful dinner at Rockpool Bar and Grille. The steak was very good but not the best that we have eaten, and it is one of the most expensive dinners we have ever enjoyed! The restaurant is gorgeous and the service is outstanding which added to a delightful evening. I would expect tender most tasty meat from this restaurant, and we were all disappointed in the steak!
It was our anniversary. The service was fantastic and the staff were so efficient. The food was superb.
There is no restaurant that compares to Rockpool.
Thank you so very much
i had some VIPs out from the UK and some Film people to host in Sydney, perfect , food was great
Super bon restaurant pour gouter du Wagyu beef avec un très joli cadre
What an amazing night !! Great service great food and amazing atmosphere ! Had the best steak I have ever had ! Highly recommend !
Bread was stale. No caviar, waygu, onion rings in stock. Service was good
The staff at Rockpool Bar and Grill are exceptional and I would really recommend to anyone wanting a fantastic meal.
Our steaks were cooked absolutely perfect and the food around was amazing.
Amazing place to dine . Always impeccable 😀
Excellent high end dining experience as always with attentive staff
We had made reservations through OpenTable; however, they gave us the wrong restaurant through another concept of theirs. The Host was extremely accommodating about it, and immediately assisted us. Our server was extremely snotty and looked down on us as we were not dressed in business suits like everyone else. We are tourists. He didn't provide us service or the accompaniments for steaks and other items as he provided the other table. We wanted to try everything on the menu. We had appetizers, salad, pasta, steak, drinks and dessert. We were willing to spend but our server didn't care to talk to us. The food was truly amazing! The cocktails were really wonderful as well. Would come back but would have asked for better service.
Amazing dining experience. Wait staff attentive without being overbearing. Food is amazing, and a must try is the Four Raw Tastes of the Sea. Wine list extraordinary. Highly recommended and save room for dessert, Catherine’s Passionfruit Pavlova is a perfect end to the evening.
Perfectly prepared food and a wonderful wine list. One of the 100 Best Restaurants in Australia and worth every dollar it costs.
We had amazing food (mainly steak obviously), outstanding service & a table so close to the kitchen that it was like a chef's table. The only complaint was that the portions were too generous!
Nice venue but my food wasn't great and I was expecting much more from this restaurant as I have been wanting to try it out for many years. Alas it didn't live up to hopes I had for the restaurant.
Absolutely delicious food with amazing flavors and presentation. Wonderful setting. Unfortunately, our service was poor.
Rockpool Bar & Grill is a beautiful restaurant that offers usual steakhouse fare for a lot of money. The service is extraordinary , professional, and helpful. The spectacular setting was offset by a chef who over salted every dish that my wife and I ordered. It was too bad, because otherwise my steak, my wife’s fish and our veggies and potatoes would have been very good. But for close to $300 without wine, the salt ruined our meal. My suggestion to the kitchen would be to allow the customers to salt their own food.
Always a pleasure to eat here! Foods great, service is fantastic and it’s such a beautiful restaurant
3 and half hour to get thru dinner. Went thru 3 servers . We waited patiently but took over 2 hours to get main meal. You were short staffed. No aplology or explanation. Disgusted with this kind of service. We took friends there week before and it wasn’t as long but still very slow service no explanation or apology.
Gorgeous building, if you like Art Deco, which I do. Cocktails beautifully done even by US standards, a perfect bouillabaisse, a Grenache that was just slightly too challenging. Order mushrooms for the table--buttery, beautifully seasoned. The service is a hair too pretentious, but still kind and professional.
One of the best in the city. Awesome steaks. Also has good options for vegetarians
Overrated and not recommendable. Service, food (steak was prepared well done when asked for medium rare) and price were all below average.
Excellent food, great wine list.
Nice food, attentive staff and great ambience
Excellent attentive service, and one of the best steaks I’ve ever had.
The earlier incarnation of the Rockpool down in the Rocks was fantastic. By comparison, this Hunter Street version was such a disappointment. Three of us dined Sunday night, 26th November.
Start with wine. The markup on wine bottles was so absurd, most drinkable options in triple figures, that ordering by the glass was much the most economic choice, which almost never happens. It also ended the ordinary conviviality of sharing a bottle with one's guests. I saw the exact same Margaret River red we had recently ordered for 42 dollars at a nearby 5 star fine dining restaurant, here priced at 96 dollars -- just plain extortion!
What about the food? The main courses, extravagantly priced for what they were, appeared dropped on plates without thoughts of presentation, garnishes or grooming. Fine enough ingredients, but no magic for your $50+ plate, be it John Dory or grass-fed lamb cutlets. Overpriced and unremarkable sides proved to be, nonetheless essential, to make a meal of this. Meanwhile, service was so annoyingly assiduous, that any emptied glass was removed in 30 seconds, or less! Same went for side plates, knives, etc. These proved to be not exactly relaxing conditions for conversation and dining. More than silly, it starts to make everyone present feel unwelcome, as if we were intruders at a table, that staff just want to tidy up as soon as possible!
All this gives me grief to report. It is such a shame given the class, inventiveness, and warmth of this restaurant's predecessor. Advice: don't bother: the great city of Sydney has much better offerings for your dining dollars. Three of us left feeling flat, ripped off, and downcast, as well as quite chagrined about the experience. Rethink the formula, the mode, the attitude and the food and wine concepts Rockpool: you could do so much better.
