Rockpool Bar & Grill - Crown Melbourne Ratings and Reviews
great atmosphere, diverse range of dishes, great selection of wines if you are after a whole bottle rather than a glass. poor selection of seating organisation - tables of 2 should not be near table of 8-10 people as its likely to create differences in environmental noises. fantastic informative waitress although the multiple waiters delivering different dishes at a time makes it slightly confusing. very thoughtful and well designed desserts.
Somewhat disappointed with the food, scallops were over cooked, both our rib-eye steaks were pretty ordinary. Went for a 20th Wedding anniversary ( after notifying them of such ) and expected better. When your paying $60 plus sides for a steak it should be perfect and ours was definately not. Would not recomend i'm afraid !!
Had a great night at Rockpool for my husband's birthday. It was our first time and our group were quite rowdy however the staff were so professional catering to our every need and always had a smile. Food was delicious and what we were expecting, and when we added food to our order at the last minute it came out with the rest of our order. Food wasn't dextremely expensive but great quality and you get what you pay for
Dined many times , staff are wonderful but the food was disappointing, the kitchen got the steak cooking wrong, and the quality was average. The staff were polite about it but questioned if it was a real problem. Service was very slow , we were early diners but it was over an hour from entree to mains, but they kindly offered to give us an extra half hour to eat our mains.
I took my partner here for his birthday and made note with my booking it was a special occasion. From the moment we walked in the service was wonderful. We were seated near the window which was perfect. The staff went out of their way to make it a very enjoyable experience and even organised a candle for the occasion. I am blown away and so grateful. The food was great and staff were amazing. It was a real first class experience.
Overall, the experience was wonderful. The steak was delicious, although a bit too much fat was let on and it was not as tender as i had hoped it would be given steak is Rockpool's signature dish.
The entrees - we had ocean trout and calamari - were exceptional. Both had excellent flavours and textures. Our sides of potato and cabbage gratin and the corn puree went well with the steak.
The chocolate and coconut mouse was the pick of the desserts, with the mandarin sorbet simple delicious.
WOW WOW WOW,
What an experience we had , SOOO professional well orchestrated, a fantastic quite, relaxing environment ,
man it is so good you see on t.v ( masterchef) the judges talk about balance and seasoning , well we no first hand what the mean now,
the food was so fantastic the flavour, so so good,
we woke up the next morning and thought the experience at the rockpool was a dream, we are still talking about our time there,
You have one us as a customer we will be back
I am a regular of Spice Temple in MEL and SYD and was looking forward to Rockpool as a birthday meal for my wife. The food was fantastic. The prawns were hard to eat but delicious none the less. The restaurant was a little too dark and we had a table of noisy teenagers sat right on us which made it a little uncomfortable mid way through. The gent at greet was a little to sarcastic about taking our coats and work bag but I let it pass. The maitre Di was also a little to sarcastic. The only downer.
Our son is about to start and apprenticeship to be a chef so we asked for a table near the kitchen.
We got so much more. Great conversation and information from Cam and Caroline - but also too my son got a personal guided tour through the kitchen and even a prompt to apply at Rockpool for the apprenticeship.
While nothing may come of it - my son has been dumbstruck for 48 hours so far.
My third time at the Rockpool and cannot get enough. Food speaks volume but what keeps me coming back is the fantastic service. You can see from the outset that there is much pride in ensuring the highest level of service and consistency with food. And the matched wine was perfect!
Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Everything was fantastic however what spoilt it was that the first sitting which was at 6pm and as I was made aware of the 8pm limit the waiter then says we may not have time for desert keep in mind I'm about to drop close to $1000 on this dinner and I get rushed along to which i advised the waiter that the doors were not even open until 6.15pm
well....we were recommended and advised you simply must go to the Rock Pool...
I don't mind paying $250 for two course dinner for two people with a $60 bottle of wine but I was left with a major garlic overload in my mouth.
Firstly my partners entree was forgotten...
The crab cocktail had quite a lot of shell in it. I tried picking it out but gave up and just got on with it.
The sweet potato as a side with my three fillets of whiting had portions that were almost raw and had black spots.
lovely spot for a restaurant.
Most food and drinks very pricey, cocktails were between $20 to $40. Steaks between $50 and $100.
Don't mind paying for food if it's very nice. ONe of our two steaks were overcooked, and the vegetable side dish was so overcooked it was mushy. Waiter tried to tell us how it was cooked (sous vide).... didn't matter, overcooked is overcooked!!
