Located in the same building as the Greenwich Picture House, Rivington Greenwich is set over two storeys, with a mezzanine seating 40 people for private parties and a 25-seat terrace. Like its sister restaurant in Shoreditch, the walls are whitewashed, the floors stripped wood and the tables dressed with white linen, and the emphasis is on simple, British dishes cooked with ingredients from small, bespoke suppliers. As well as the main dining area, there is a more relaxed area at the entrance for cocktails and snacks such as Welsh rarebit and eggs Benedict, all to be found in the “On toast” section of the menu, and a bar that spans the width of the room. Rivington sources all its food responsibly from the British Isles and is a true neighbourhood restaurant.

Everything was done well from food to service and the pace of the establishment. To find fault would be overly critical for this place correctly pitched at their clientele. Compliments to all.

Revisited one of our favorite London local restaurants. The weather didn't suit for the outdoor gin terrace but ti looked great. Instead we had our drinks inside a the bar with a huge selection to choose from, each paired with the perfect mixer/garnish. Check out the gin hour for special promotions. We ate early on Saturday evening, the service was warm and attentive. A shared starter of potted shrimp is a staple on the menu and always pleases, followed by two mains of lamb and pork. The food was nicely presented and full of flavour. A gin to finish and we left as the restaurant was full for a Saturday night service.

The area has an identity crisis- bar- food tables- hot upstairs - no loos upstairs - and sad chill specific jazz by a poor singer -
The food was only ok- the lamb chops ordered medium- v rare- sent back- burnt chips up next -clearly cooking from frozen doesn’t work - the barrate was so cold you couldn’t taste it -
They took the returned food off the bill but such a disappointment

I was celebrating my birthday here with my husband before going to an event at the Cutty Sark later in the evening. We arrived shortly after they opened and were greeted warmly and able to choose our table.

Our aperitifs were good and my husbands G&T was good value for £6. We ordered house wine to go with our meal and it was delicious but only realised it was £30 when we received the bill.

I ordered scallops, bacon with a pea purée and a side of buttery mash. All delicious and not too filling but I would have preferred it hotter. Decided not to return as thought it would probably be put in a microwave to reheat. My husbands monkfish and prawn masala with coconut rice was tasty but not outstanding.

My dark chocolate tart and clotted cream was wonderful and I would definitely recommend.

If we were in that area again and wanted a non-chain restaurant meal we would return.

Very attentive service in a pleasant atmosphere on the mezzanine level. Fish of the day was a very tasty bream.

The food was terrible. Toast overdone to the point of being biscuit-like. The beans and egg on the English breakfast looked congealed as if they had been sitting for hours and then microwaved.
On the plus side the young lady that served us was very polite, friendly and apologetic.
We returned the food and were not charged. Won’t be going back.

The restaurant was implementing some training when we got there but were running over. They didn’t open the doors for our booking until 15 minutes after it was meant to start, about 30 minutes after the notice on the door said they would be finished with training. No member of staff came out to explain they were running late, we were just left sitting and waiting outside, and no one apologised when we did finally get let in and seated. Overall that’s quite poor service and something that basic manners and service should have addressed easily. We accept that training needs to happen but then let people book reservation times that interfere with the training so that the training can be done fully without being rushed and the reservations are maintained.

Once again I enjoyed a very pleasant pre-cinema meal at the Rivington with a friend. On this occasion our experience was enhanced by the input of our waiter Who was able to describe two of the dishes in great detail when required and clearly has a real interest in the food served himself.

We frequent the Rivington as a family for special occasions. I go with girlfriends for lunch. We pop in for a one course meal before the cinema or between movies. It’s a great place. Excellent service attentive & helpful very pleasant staff (May I mention Andreas especially). The food is excellent. The chef uses locally sourced & season ingredients & the menu changes whilst the good favourites remain. The wine is rather pricey & I’d recommend they served different Riojas

My starter of prawns was not great, but my steak for mains was delicious. My boyfriends potted shrimp starter was good but his main of lobster mac and cheese was disappointing. Maybe down to personal taste but menu seemed a bit bit or miss. Hasn’t put me off going back again though. Service was fab!

An enjoyable dinner and it is a nice restaurant/bar in a convenient location. Only slightly poorly presented starters, squid and prawns kind of plopped on a small plate! and the burger was bland let it down. But otherwise everything else was very nice and tasty. The waiter was also very attentive and helpful.

Great location in Greenwich to dine! Food was great! Service was awesome and an overall pleasant experience. Would highly recommend, even though a reservation in advance would be best on weekends.

Good place to eat for families with children, also.

Would highly recommend The Rivington. Lovely restaurant with friendly and knowledge staff - very family friendly. My only gripe would be that the prawn and monkfish dish had more prawns then monkfish - aside from that it was fab.

One of my favourite restaurants but sadly let down by the poor service from the waiting staff.

Greeted to be told our table wasn’t ready even though most tables were empty upstairs and others were clear.

Held at the bar until it was ready.

Sat down, provided menus and then waited, waited for a bit longer and then was finally asked what we would like to order.

At no point were we asked how the food was, played were cleared and also our wine and water glasses were cleared at the same time and the waiter disappeared. He eventually came back and said would you like dessert, we said yes I then watched him wait for another table to decide on theirs before he then took their menus and brought them over, was odd as I’m sure they have more than 2 menus.

Trying to pay was difficult as the two waiting staff were more concerned with talking to each other and setting tables than looking after the customers apart from the one big table.

If this was my first time here, I wouldn’t be back.

One of my favourite regular evenings out takes me first to the Greenwich Picturehouse and then for supper at the Rivington . I invariably enjoy tasting one of the range of gin cocktails on offer together with the excellent dressed crab. The atmosphere is warm and lively without being overpowering; service is excellent. On my last visit I had the boxy pancake with smoked salmon starter followed by the
House Beefburger and this proved to be an excellent choice .

My wife and I came on a Friday for dinner before catching a film at the adjacent cinema. We shared a crab starter which was delicious, quite rich so just right for two people. I had the lux burger which was outstanding. My wife had the prawn/monkfish curry which was very tasty. We shared the raspberry creme brulee - again, just right for two people. We ordered a carafe of the California pinot noir for the meal. Total came to £78 - pretty good value. The place was busy after around 7.30pm but it wasn’t noisy or seemed chaotic. We’ll be back!

Second time we have dined here and we enjoyed it but not without minor issues. We ordered two Sunday roasts and a fish and chips all of which were excellent: tasty and filling. Dessert however was poor: the spotted dick overcooked in a microwave so as to be hard and inedible. Be aware also that dogs are allowed at the bar, if that is something that bothers you. It did us but nothing we were able to change. Service is good and prices for central Greenwich reasonable.

The overall ambience is quite similar to the 'Cheers' bar - we even met the resident bar pundit Ashley, who entertained us with his knowledge of the 291 varieties of Gin served.
The service was good, without being intrusive and the level of interaction was suitable and friendly, without being over familiar.
The steaks, to be honest were a little overpriced for the size £28 is more a West End price tag
The monkfish & prawn masala was sold out - I guess this is a testament to it's popularity.
Quite a limited vegetable & side dish selection - no asparagus and I was informed you can only have Portobello mushrooms if there are some left over from the breakfast menu
I look forward to returning to try the Sunday lunch, which has been highly recommended.

My partner and I went to the Rivington for a celebratory evening meal. I had a really nice G&T and fish pie, which I really enjoyed. My partner had the lamb chop which he was disappointed with - very fatty and it came with a lumpy parnsip mash. The ambience was lovely, but the service wasn't great overall - we were waiting ages to ask for the bill and for our plates to be cleared. And the couple sitting next to us sent back a plate of food which was cold, and the waiter argued with them saying that he didn't think it was cold, which didn't create a great atmosphere. Overall I wouldn't go again - overpriced for what it was.

We eat here quite a bit and it’s pleasant. On this occasion several items were unavailable making choices limited. Also the large group dining near us left and the staff dismantled and moved the tables - quite disruptive to our meal. Suggest asking to be seated downstairs. Nice cocktails and wine list and reasonable value. Disappointed with this visit however

The Sunday roast is great, delicious in fact. Good value wine list and the overall value is great. Shame about the slow service, especially when you are on the upper level and in a corner, you are constantly forgotten. They don’t even offer a dessert list after the mains have been cleared. You just pay and leave. Love the bar, the food and the overall atmosphere, just a shame with the lack of service when you are not in the bar or on the ground floor. Sometimes great but sometimes just not right.
