We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere and the noise level were perfect for our gathering. We had a couple of senior citizens with us and I was concerned about the acoustics for them. But everything worked out perfectly. It’s a lively atmosphere but you can still hear yourself easily. And the food never disappoints
Dinner at River City is always a treat. The menu is creative and good healthy portions. Bobby made a pork shoulder that was to die for. Tasty and not fatty. If I could critique just one aspect of the restaurant, I would say the bottle wine prices are outrageous - starting at $40. There are lots of wines that could be appealing in the high 20's and low 30's. Food for thought.
Such a great restaurant. Food is always tasty and fresh, waitstaff is great!
Made reservations not knowing about this place at all, was just on the way home with whole family from sports activities. We were pleasantly surprised on how great the ambiance was, friendly staff and most importantly the food was superb. Our appetizers: Meatballs, teriyaki Quesada, fried calamari (although calamari salad was ordered) and truffle fries were out of this world good! Life-changing good! The mains did not disappoint either: their special seafood risotto was very tasty (additional salt needed but did not stop me from leaking the plate), veal cutlet with arugula salad, sesame crusted salmon and penne with chicken were all amazing. Ice cream for desert was cherry on the top of this amazing dinner. Would return again!
We were the first to be seated on a Saturday night the waitstaff were helpful, knowledgeable and there when you needed them . I had the scallops and shrimp and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were perfectly prepared. The chef stopped by to check on our meal and all in all we were very pleased.
1st thing when they give you a menu that feels and looks as it was just came of a computer copier you should not have high expectations. The squash soup was so watery and tasteless. The highlight was the meatloaf and service was very good. The view of the garage service station next door was something I could do without.
Our restaurant week experiment was a success. We will surely return to try the regular menu. Bravo
Five old friends had a marvelous time at brunch. Food was excellent. Our waiter, Abraham, was fantastic.
Enjoyable evening . We were expecting the restaurant week menu but it was not available on Saturdays.
Food good. Lively ambiance. Will be nack.
The waiter ignored us despite standing very nearby. Never checked after food was delivered, never asked if I’d like a second glass of wine though my empty glass sat there halfway through my meal and had to ask for the check 3 times. There was a bone in my paella sausage and the flavor of the dish was not good. To add to all of this, the watery, tasteless butternut squash soup was on the menu for $8 but we were charged $9. It wasn’t worth either price. I will never return.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. We had to switch tables because we went from 4 to 5 and it happened seamlessly. Most ordered off the restaurant week menu and all was delicious!
If I had any comment it would be that the service was too good!! We had a reservation at 6:30, had a 3 course dinner and we were out before 8pm!
Excellent service! Our waiter was wonderful! Eclectic menu. Good prices. Delicious food.
Delicious Brunch with excellent service
I look my mother here for a 75th Birthday Brunch and was deeply, deeply impressed. The food and service were both spectacular and a wonderful time was had by all.
Unlike all too many restaurants that turn brunch into the worst meal of the week and hope you won't notice because of all those mimosas and bloody marys, the River City Grille adds some very tasty breakfast items onto a menu that features most of their normal menu's selections.
My New Yorker - a smoked salmon bagel with all the trimmings topped with a perfectly poached egg - was exactly what I wanted. But my son's filet mignon was also perfectly cooked with a nice sear outside and red meat inside and exactly what he wanted. My mom was in the mood for a juicy burger - ditto. And so on through a sesame crusted salmon, a pizzetta, and some shrimp tacos. The tacos were probably the weakest of the bunch...but that is simply because everything else was extraordinary.
A pair of tasty bloody marys did go down - being the birthday girl and her husband does have it's privileges - and rest of us enjoyed our coffees and juices.
And again, I must say that the service was welcoming and wonderful and helped make the experience quite special.
We discovered River City Grille via Open Table during a recent visit to the Hudson Valley. After our first visit, we were sufficiently impressed to return the next day prior to departing the area. The food was excellent on both occasions, with the pulled pork wrap being especially delicious. The wine selection is small but quite good, and reasonably priced.
Excellent meal and service! Great dinner after a day of exploring the area and hiking Rockefeller state park.
We are from out of town and found this restaurant while searching for a place to eat. We both found something on the menu we liked plus they had a Porter on the beer menu. That was all I needed to choose this place. The food was outstanding and the service was great! I’d go back if in the area again.
The food was excellent and well presented, not a bad taste in any dish. Service was excellent and professional, they took care of my dietary needs and always made sure we were satisfied.
The decor and ambience was very nice and the service was very good. Goat cheese salad was excellent as was creme brulee desert, but was disappointed that mushroom ravioli was so heavily drenched with cream sauce. We asked for leftover to be boxed without sauce and when was re-heated was more able to enjoy the excellent pasta shell and mushroom filling. I would order again, but with request for light sauce or sauce on the side.
River City is always a pleasant dining experience. The food is creative, ample portions and tasty. The service is top notch. My only wish is for the wine list to be more affordable. Opening price for wines starts at $40 - pretty steep for Westchester.
Restaurant empty on a Tuesday evening. Service impeccable. Waiter very attentive to person in our group who questioned ingredients due to allergies. Menu choices varied. 4 of us had different meals and not a complaint in the bunch!
Parking is the only negative. Tiny lot.
Great for kids and adults. Superb menu and service!
I hate writing reviews but I feel like I need to. We arrived there and were greeted with a hi from our server. He literally came over and said “ I just wanted to say hi, I’ll be back to take your orders”. The whole time we felt rushed. The food came out fairly fast but portions were small. My boyfriend got the mushroom ravioli and he didn’t like that you can see through. My brother and his girlfriend got The same pasta dish and his portion was significantly smaller than hers. I got the lemon Roasted chicken dish, there was four tiny pieces of chicken and the prosciutto risotto was far too sweet. The food was okay but proportions were tiny and price was over priced. When asked if he can clear the table I said I need my wrapped up, he then proceeded to take my dish first and stack the empty plates on top of it. I guess no left overs for me. Then he was rushing up with the check while the restaurant was dead.
I have always loved this sweet restaurant. The staff are all lovely. The food is wonderful and the presentation is beautiful. Was very pleased to see some specials and changes in the menu as that was my only complaint in the past. Our waiter was actually quite delightful as well. If you are on the fence about this place - jump! You will return again and again.
Good dinner and good service
Bobby and staff never fail to deliver. An old friend was in town from up north, wanted good food. Old reliable, RiverCity Grille never disappoints. Food was fantastic, great football convo with our bartender, just a really great time. Highly recommend if you want to eat great food. Can never decide what I want to order from the menu, so many great choices. Just another reason to come back soon.
Owner/manager rude and pushy. Not nearly as nice a place as their website indicates.
Food was excellent! Superb service and great value!
Consistently good food and clever cocktails. I enjoyed the Thai beef salad and pizzaette with goat cheese. Great neighborhood place for easy casual dining. Abraham was our server. He’s terrific.
My favorite neighborhood spot!
This was a little gem in so many ways! Our server Mike was excellent with recommendations, attitude and attention to detail. The offerings for the Gluten Free member of our party were numerous and delicious. Drink menu was fun and also included a few Gluten Free items. A basket of treats muffins and breads was a real treat! WE will be back!
Very good food. Good service also! Will go back!
The restaurant is not large so I was happy that they were able to accommodate our party of 11. The staff were all welcoming and professional. The food was excellent. I got a lot of compliments for choosing this place!
City quality food...delicious. Service was excellent; all staff was very pleasant. If you sit close to the bar it is more noisy than if you were in a different location. Nice fresh decor. Will definitely be back.
Had lunch before going to Octagon House! Our server was attentive! I had the crab cake with corn and black beans. Delicious!
My friends had salad with salmon! Fresh and cooked perfectly!
Birthday celebration. Lovely dinner. Waiter was very attentive.
River City Grille remains one of my favorite restaurants. Their menu has many selections that are delicious. And the offer of a half-portion is one of my favorite ways to take advantage of a delicious filet mignon steak at a reasonable price. Other favorite dishes are their crispy goat cheese salad, and the almond cake desert.
Food was ok; have eaten here many times and this occasion seemed less impressive. Excellent soup of the day; salad over-dressed (soggy). Pleasant service.
Dependable good food and service. Makes you feel like you’re having an evening out.
So disappointed! We had a great meal last time we were there. So we picked it as the place to celebrate our son getting his first post college job. The place was filled with little kids. The service was inattentive and we spent a good deal of the time looking for our server. The steaks wer horribly over cooked and tasteless. It took 15-20 minutes to get our drinks. Overall it was so disappointing. Never again.
