My sister and I want to have a monthly date for Rider just to have the Crab toast.
I enjoyed a dozen oysters, and Duck three ways! Service was great, not overbearing, and very informative. Well worth a visit.
Wait staff is outstanding. Attentive and friendly but knew to leave our table to our conversation when we were deep in discussion. Helpful with the menu. The fish was exceptionally fresh and the food preparation and presentation was impressive. And it all tasted as good as it looked.
I thought our first time at Rider was a pleasant venue, nice atmosphere. However, the service was soooooo slow for a Saturday evening at 6:30 pm. It took over 20 minutes to get a cocktail after ordering, and our food (mainly small plates) took 30-40 minutes. We had the cauliflower appetizer which was odd - a little tasteless. We commented about it when asked at the end about the meal, and were comped the dish - very nice! It was my b-day and they brought us some complementary sparkling, which was also very nice. Might try it again, but with a bit of caution. I know others have complained about the slow, but very kind service.
The food was excellent. The atmosphere is comfortable and the service was superb.
Cocktails were great and the food was mostly delicious and inventive, but the cost far exceeded what we had. $180 for two adult entrees and a kids’ meal with one cocktail and one glass of wine is extremely pricey, even for seattle.
I love Rider...came all the way to Seattle from CT for dinner! Great atmosphere/decor, creative menu!
The service was excellent, friendly and very competent. Each dish was delicious and so fresh. Oysters were a hit but the crab toast knocked our socks off. We sat in the bar which was super comfortable.
Went at 6 pm and it took almost 50 minutes to get our food. Service was poor, she never came back to our table. Had to ask 3 times for ice for my water. Wasn’t really busy, not sure why it was so slow. The server paid a lot of attention to the table near us, maybe because we weren’t drinking she felt we weren’t worth the time.
Great service! The duck 3 ways was amazing!
We enjoyed apps and mojitos in the bar. The crab toast was small and expensive, but incredibly good. Mojitos were excellent. Then moved to the dining room for dinner. Food was a tad pricey but worth it! We highly recommend the crab fat rolls and the shaved kohlrabi salad. The service was pleasant and not over-bearing. The vibe in both the bar and restaurant was fun and welcoming. If you sit outside, you need to be prepared for the occasional beggar. Staff did well to make sure customers were protected from that. We would definitely go back! Great experience!!!!
Great experience, great food, great service - We will be back.
Went there for our Anniversary, all the staff was pleasant and helpful. We had a great view of wood burning grill. My wife said halibut was best ever.
Fabulous food and presentation. Definitely will go again!
Marielle was such a delight! We loved our time with her - she was so engaged and fun, a lovely person! She, truly, made our day, exceptional!
The meal was perfect and we loved every bite!
I took my friends there for a birthday dinner since it was recommended by her.
The food was great from start to finish, I'll be going there again for sure.
The food was delicious. The menu was both creative and grounded in PNW classics. The service was good, very accommodating and friendly. The only issue was that the music was quite loud which meant everyone was yelling over it. Plus, the music selection tended more towards pop music than instrumentals, which doesn't make much sense in a high-end restaurant like this one. Otherwise an excellent experience and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality restaurant focused on PNW cuisine.
Dinner was delicious, the service was great and they got us to our show on time. Only complaint is that some of the food was a touch on the salty side
We did the chefs choice with wine pairing and had a fantastic meal and great date night. I've been talking about the food ever since then.
4of us ate at Rider before a show at the Paramount. Our server was conscientious about getting our food ready on time. She provided lots of information about the food and was wonderfully helpful with our selections. Every item our table ordered was outstanding. Their rolls are fabulous,
the seafood chowder, cioppino and tuna tartare were delicious. The food was not inexpensive, but was absolutely worth it. We would highly recommend Rider and hope to go back soon.
Server forgot to bring cream and sugar with the coffee even though I asked for it, then she disappeared and I had to flag down someone else. Also never offered a refill. Prices were on the high end ($5 for drip coffee and $5 for two eggs).
The food was artful and delicious. It was an elevated and special dining experience. Definitely recommend!
Absolutely amazing. We did the chef's tasting menu and it was the best meal I've had in Seattle so far! Everything was unique and beautiful and the chef came out every time to explain the components of each dish. The staff at Rider is excellent and it was the perfect date night! I cannot wait to go back!
What an AMAZING meal. Everything we ate was amazing. I highly recommend the ahi tuna tartare, the chinook salmon (the BEST salmon dish I have EVER had hands down), and the pull apart rolls - who knew that crab butter could be so good?? They clearly take pride in showcasing fresh ingredients that you may find peculiar but taste amazing. HIGHLY recommend a visit.
This was my second time to Rider. My first experience was for brunch, and I had the fried chicken sandwich which was awesome. This last time we came for dinner. While the food and service was good, I thought the entree portions were very small for the price. I had the black cod. It was maybe 2 oz of cod and 5 spears of asparagus. The preparation was yummy, just seemed more of a tasting portion.
This is probably my new favorite restaurant... We had the duck 3 ways - and it was incredible. They also had Ivory King Salmon that night - such a treat and it was prepared perfectly! The rhubarb hand pie was delicious - it could have used a bit more filling, but the pistachio ice cream it was served with was the BEST I have ever eaten! It was so flavorful and full of chunky pistachio... The kohlrabi salad was an explosion of flavors. It came over dressed the first time, but they remade it very quickly and it was so good! If you don't like vinagrettes, I suggest you ask for the dressing on the side. The pull apart rolls melt in your mouth - no butter needed! They have a great wine selection and they had some oysters that I have never had before. The oysters were so fresh, well cleaned and beautifully paired with sauces. Everything here is pretty local - and definitely in season, so the flavors are the best! Great job!
I love Rider, I love the vibe in this restaurant. All the food I have had here is very thoughtfully presented with a complex flavor profile. Great place to take clients.
We absolutely love Rider! its our favorite restaurant to go to in Seattle. The chefs choice dinner is the best!!
The waitress asked if we are on a time crunch for the Broadway show and we told her “yes”. 45 minutes later, still no food. We talked to the manager who rushed the food and took all food off of the bill and made it right. The service in general is good. The food is excellent. Just had a bad service from one individual.
We took our 2 children, ages 7 and 10, who have a wide variety of tastes to Rider. We had difficulty finding items to order for them. My husband loves the halibut! I ordered the Dungeness crab ravioli, which was okay, but not great. Too many competing tastes in many of the dishes! Would not go there again or recommend, unless you want fish or oysters.
Great knowledgeable service. Upscale modern setting. Amazing combinations of ingredients in dishes and how beautifully they came together. Husband who only eats at 2 restraunts in town LOVED it! It was my choice to try here, our 40th anniversary.
The food and staff were incredible! Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner.
We arrived early and were seated immediately, which was awesome. Our server, Rachel, was great - prompt, thorough, but not hovering/annoyingly attentive. The food, though, was meh. We ordered the biscuits and calamari for starters, which were good. The main dishes were meh. The pork was good, but not great, the cod was fairly tasty, and the halibut was barely palatable - sooo salty - and the sides with the halibut were cold. I was a bit disappointed.
Overall, we would go back for drinks and apps, but prob not to eat. Great service, just ok food - not really worth the price.
It was delicious and on point. All of it❤️
Great food- awful service. Not waiters fault, clearly coordination of bar and kitchen
Get the duck. You're welcome.
We went to Rider prior to a show at the paramount. Even though our server asked if we had a show to get to, we were forced to rapidly eat our meals to get out the door in time. It took over an hour to receive our entrees. I won’t go back. It’s not good enough to wait that long and overpriced.
Absolutely outstanding on every level.
We had all small plates to share and a bottle of amazing South African wine and it was perfect. Highly recommend the pull apart bread!
We had a 6:00 reservation before a 7:30 event at the symphony. We had to leave early without being served our main dishes because, by 7:15, the only thing we had received were our oysters and drinks. Interestingly, the table next to us didn’t have slow service, but it was like our waitress forgot about us - perhaps because we were tucked away in the corner? Too bad, because the menu looks great and we were hoping Rider would become our go to seafood place.
This has become one of my favorite restaurants Downtown. One of the best renovations I’ve seen in a long time, the space is very inviting. I really enjoy the open kitchen and hearth. Food never disappoints.
