Rico Bar & Dining
Still some teething issues with staff, forgetting drinks orders and a few staff changes throughout the meal.
The waiter brought out the wrong drink twice, we made sure to confirm the second time but it was still brought out wrong. The oysters and ceviche were sitting too long before being sent to our table as the ceviche was well cured and I would suggest the oysters be served on ice to maintain a cool temperature (especially in qld heat). Our hot and cold food was also brought out at the same time and all the food could not fit on our table - suggest the cold comes out first then once eaten hot is served.
Service and Food was outstanding.
Max the waiter did a fantastic job.
Our waitress tried too hard to please us and missed many key points. She never filled all our glasses together and there was only 3 of us. At lease two glasses had to be filled at the same time!!! Too many interruptions when we were deep in conversation.
Food - was delicious but many items especially the main meal (the lamp and veg) came out cold. Whilst we understood the tower to put the plates on for the tapas etc, it wasn't that useful when you were trying to get it.
When I arrived at the front desk, I waited a while before I was acknowledged. The girl on was the phone and was also attending to a waiter in front of me. She made no eye contact with me to say that she would be with me not did anyone else come to attend. Other staff members just looked at me and walked off. Pretty poor service.
Missed drink orders. Constantly had to ask where our food/drinks were. Waited far too long for food which was very mediocre. Extremely small portions (even for Tapas) but exorbitantly priced.
Don’t think we’ll be back which is sad as the venue itself is beautiful.
Great food great service
Food did take a while to come but when it did arrive it was very tasty ..
The long group table next to us were rowdy group of about 25 people.. but nothing the staff could prevent or do ..
Just kinda average. Food and cocktails mostly disappointing. Amazing ribs though
Great location, and the service was good. However the tables are small and the food is served in stacked towers that sit in the middle of the table. It means you can't see the person on the other side of the table whenever the meal / plates are there. It was very annoying. The food was good, especially the lamb shoulder, yum. However, the menu overall was on the expensive side, given the portion sizes, particularly the entrees, which were small.
The food was good and it was good how the sides are included in the mains price. We didn't like how the mains came out on separate plates as there wasn't enough room on the table for that many dishes for each person plus drinks. One of the wines must've been open for too long and we had to request for a fresh bottle. The food took an hour to come out after ordering. Staff need better knowledge of food, in particular what contains certain things for people with allergies or intolerances, so they don't need to keep going and asking the kitchen.
Lovely lunch. Beautiful Spanish rosé. Would recommend and will be coming back.
My husband asked for a medium eye fillet which was overlooked. However, I had the pork cutlet and it was fine.
The paella wasn’t great, nothing authentic about it. Too loud.
Most amazing restaurant and staff, definitely exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious could not fault in any way. The most perfect spot on the water can’t wait to go back👌🏽
I love this place! Hard to say what the best thing is but it’s probably the service, everyone is so attentive and professional.
The food was absolutely beautiful.
We went there on a Friday at lunchtime and the although the service was great and the waiters very friendly the food took a long time to come out to the table. Will definitely be going here again though (not in a lunch hour)
I think they’re still trying to work out some kinks. We opted for tapas for a group of four. They seemed very confused by the concept (for a Spanish restaurant) and the tables are too small to accommodate a series of small plates. Quality of food wasn’t any better — everything was so bland and tasteless. Probably some of the lamest tapas I’ve ever had despite the price. Servers were quite nice but hovered over your shoulder. Vibe was hotel breakfast room or cruise ship, which is such a waste of the location. The constant stream of Muzak in the background didn’t help. Overall, just really disappointing...even more so since we had overseas visitors we wanted to show a good night.
Good atmosphere but bit noisy due to all the hard surfaces.
The only suggestion I can make is that the Champagne was not cold enough. Waitress sat it on the bench for maybe more than 5 mins. I had to put in the ice bucket, hardly any ice in it. Asked another waiter for more ice, did not get the ice. The response from the waitress was it was only on bench for couple of minutes, has to get glasses. She could have put the bottle in the ice bucket. I did not like her attitude.
All my food which came in was cold and I highly recommend that you serve it in a hot plate. So you can enjoy the food
We were very excited going to Rico. We really enjoyed similar cuisine at an amazing place in Newcastle called Bocados. We had a lovely server, Tiago, who was very kind and friendly but unfortunately the food didn’t match the venue or the price tag. Nothing was inedible in any way but was heavily salted and otherwise quite bland. This was especially true for the Paella and croquettes. Really wanted to love it, but unfortunately we didn’t get there. Best part was the warm olives at the start. Am sure there is scope for it to be amazing.
Great atmosphere and view in a funky, stylish restaurant right on the river. Great place for Friday dinner and drinks with a group of friends. Service was great, food was fantastic, really enjoyed the night. Will be back!
Great reasonably priced restaurant with something for everyone.
Very busy when we arrived at 7.15 PM. We were promptly shown to a table and offered water. It felt a bit cramped as the tables are quite close together and also a bit noisy with loud music and plenty of chatter. We ordered drinks and croquet's for starters. My wife ordered half dozen oysters for entree and I had the kingfish. We also ordered the house special for a Spanish restaurant which is of course paella. After a short wait the entrees arrived before the starter and drinks followed rather too closely by the paella. The food was very good but with it all arriving at once it all felt a bit rushed. The desert was also excellent. Overall a good dining experience slight spoiled by the food arriving in the wrong order and all at once. We would try Rico's again maybe at a quieter time than a Saturday evening.
We were pleasantly surprised to find a lovely restaurant on Eagle Street that was not only pleasing in its appearance but the prices were great. Everything was lovely from the amazing food we were served, to the wonderful service, to the price of dinner. We would highly recommend going here for a meal. We will be back.
Rico Bar & Dining provides a good selection of Spanish-inspired dishes at a low price point. The restaurant benefits from its location in the former Aria venue, but the facility requires some restorative works particularly in the bathrooms and around the outside of the building where age has worn down fixtures and creates a dingy-feel to the otherwise well-appointed restaurant.
The food and drink selection is excellent but the price-point matches the quality of dishes- the Patatas Bravas were undercooked and the Eye Fillet overdone; the Sangria Jug was disappointingly plain.
Overall, Rico is great for a fancy dinner on a budget.
Very attentive service but waitress did not know the menu. Sides came out first and then the mains. Trout was undercooked and had to be sent back.
I was so excited to try this place but unfortunately it was very disappointing. The restaurant is furnished beautifully - it sets the scene for a very enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately that’s where it stops. We dined at 5:30pm when it was not busy, but it took 25 minutes for someone to come to our table after we were seated to offer us water. The food portions were quite small ($17 for one very small and dry brioche slider with a small piece of bug). There was very little flavour in any of the 6 dishes we tried. I’d recommend avoiding the green beans at all costs, they were so over cooked and slimy that we could not pick them up with a fork as they were falling apart. We tried to get someone’s attention to settle the bill for 30 minutes to no avail so we ended up walking over to the bar to pay. Overall it was a lacklustre experience. I understand that new restaurants experience teething pains, but there is just so much they need to improve on before I would consider dining there again.... I hope they fix things soon so the beautiful venue does not go to waste.
Really great edition to the Brisbane dining scene :-)
Great ambience, good food and excellent service
Overall quite good, would return. However, some dishes were lacking flavour, entrees a bit small in size aswell, dined with a group of 7 and we shared several dishes. Wait time for drinks and food could be improved, Waited 25 minutes for my drink order, a dessert wine reisling ordered with a lady staff member in training, no name badge, then reordered a Canadian club repeating it back 3 times to the same waiter, 15 minutes passes and champagne is brought out from a different waiter, I then told him I ordered a Canadian club with no ice, he then brings out quite promptly a Canadian club WITH ice. Attentiveness needs improvement.
We really enjoyed our evening at Rico. The food was so good and could not fault the service. Just a great atmosphere too. We will definitely be heading back there.
We had a great night at Rico ! Lovely decor and great service .
Will definitely be back !
We had a fantastic night celebrating my wife’s birthday with our family. The service and food were first class and the best value for money fir any waterfront restaurant in Brisbane. Thank you and congratulations on your new venue. I’m looking forward to coming back in better weather and sitting outside.
Great Oysters. Seafood Paella was okay but was expecting better.
