Ricky & Pinky Ratings and Reviews
Evening out with friends, thought we would give this a go.
From the share meals we selected, the lamb was the most outstanding and the raw tuna was excellent and the fried chicken and prawn wontons were also very good. The shredded cabbage, yuzu koshu mayo, Moreton Bay bug would have been perfect if it wasn't so salty (this coming from a salt lover) and I would rate the duck as a don't bother, to rare and thickly cut for my liking and the pancakes served with it were way too tough (to be fair this was mentioned to the staff, purely as feedback and they kindly removed it from our bill).
Ambience was good, service was excellent but the food was rather a little disappointing for an Andrew McConnell dining experience. We would still recommend it as worth a try.
This place is absolutely wonderful! Came in for yum cha on a Saturday with my parents who were visiting from the us. We had an AMAZING meal complimented by incredible service. Loved it so much we came back for dinner during the week. Must haves: pork Sichuan dumplings, cumin lam, pork sticky rice. So good!!
The food was served one dish at the time and in between the dishes, the wait was so long. Through out the night, we were constantly staring at the empty plate and wonder when the next dish will arrive, and part of our order was forgotten. All four of us didn't enjoy ourselves.
Worse Chinese food experience.
Great food and wine list. We started with drinks in the bar and then moved into the dining room for the banquet option. This made for a delightful relaxed start. and was blown away by the first couple of courses. The flounder was excellent as well. Desert was possibly the only miss (by merely being good).
A really enjoyable evening!
We had a selection of small and large plates. We really loved the pickled peanuts that started off the evening. So moorish, we could have eaten a large bowl! The dumplings were beautiful, especially the szchezuan dumplings. We had the duck as well, this was lovely but difficult to eat with all the bones. The highlight dish of the night was the lamb bao. It was so delicious, we all fought over the last bits. There would only be one thing that would improve this dish which is, we wished there was more then three bao buns. There was a good amount of lamb for a main dish, but only three buns didn't cut it. We also had sides of black fungus and Chinese greens which were both enjoyable. The XL fortune cookie was fun and tasty and the parfait was indulgent. overall a great night with beautiful, delicious food. Will be back for bao and dumplings!
Our meal was just fantastic as was the service and the vibe of the restaurant. Food offerings were extensive , tasty and so well priced. However I was blown away with the price of my glass of champagne that I was offered at the start of the meal.... and yes I didn't look at the drinks list! $24 for a very small glass of very fine champagne was unnecessary. Can I suggest an alternative offering of Australian bubbles at a more modest charge?
A great night and well worth going! Excellent customer service - very friendly and attentive and remembered that one person was allergic to nuts and seeds and constantly checked if some dishes were suitable. Also, ordered a cocktail (on their recommendation) but it was not to one persons liking and they happy took it back without charging and they ordered another cocktail which was to their liking.
Overall, great tasting food, service and ambience.
We had the banquet, cocktails and some wine; it was all good value for money. The banquet was well balanced and excellent quality. The kitchen was easily vable to vary our timing and add extra things to our order. Professional wait-staff and front of house. Would definitely recommend this place for any occasion. (it was a little bit noisy but luckily we just upped our volumes and no problems!)
Overall food is good and worth the value, but would not be looking to come back as there are many other fusion restaurant options to try in Melbourne in the similar price range (So it is not the restaurant's fault, but the fact that they are many competitors!) Loved the semifreddo dessert.
Ricky and Pinky was great on the whole. We went there on a Sunday evening and it was pretty quiet, which detracted a bit from the atmosphere, however the food was quick, superb flavours and just the right size for the 2 of us.
Our waitress steered us through the menu in terms of how many dishes for 2 we would need. My friend has a habit of over ordering but this was just the right amount.
Standout dish for me was the cumin lamb which came with the lighted min pancakes, I've ever had. The dish was a supreme delight.
Good job , well done @rickyandpinky
We were pain-in-the-neck patrons who arrived late for our Saturday night booking and were the last ones to leave. I was surprised at how courteous all the team were despite the trouble we caused. They were always friendly, super helpful with the menu and drinks selections, and even continued to serve us drinks when the bar had closed! Service was excellent and not pretentious at all.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere is casual and fun. Really enjoyed our night here.
The food at Rinky Pinky was imaginative Asian cuisine and good for sharing so that you can try several different tastes. However we went on a Saturday night and it was unbelievably noisy - hard floors and walls make the sound bounce around and we had to practically shout at one another to have a conversation. I wouldn't go back on a busy night, but I'd happily try again for a weekday lunch or dinner.
First visit to R&P and the food was very good. We had the vegetarian banquet and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had champagne to start and had another two rounds of wine with the meal and unfortunately the pours that we were given every time were very short. This was disappointing and eventually when we asked the server to top one of the wines up to the mark this did not go down well with her. This was the thing that spoiled the experience for us, but would recommend the food for anyone whom enjoys spicy vegetarian food.
Met up with friends, all of us were from interstate. The restaurant was far to noisy for us to have a decent conversation. Had to have $65/head meal due to the size of our group. Most of us thought it was to overpriced for what we had. Probably won't go back again.
