This restaurant was fantastic!!! All four of us absolutely loved our meals and the view of the water was beautiful. There is plenty of room inside the restaurant with seating indoor and out. I highly recommend the salmon for dinner! The only downfall was the expensive cocktails - but wine and beer was reasonably priced. We already have plans to be back.
All out meals were really good; fish & chips, steak, and poutine.
I highly recommend when in Town, we had an amazing view and the food was excellent!
Great spot in Portland. Very good food. Very good service.
Our experience last night was probably the worst dining experience. Our server was not attentive to my husbands allergies. He requested to have his meal put on to our bill and then take it off. He complained to us that he was tired and was working so much. It made absolutely no sense. It took over over the whole night and we couldn’t enjoy our honeymoon dinner and I left in tears.
Food was great, especially recommend the pot pie and the mussels. Waiter was friendly and efficient, view was great (upstairs dining room).
The view from the restaurant was amazing, great for a celebration dinner in Maine. Great waterfront restaurant for anyone looking for that experience. Food was delicious as well and service was great.
Great food, awesome view from upstairs and incredible service. Get the poutine.
The ambiance was so cute and the food was amazing, definitely recommend.
Very slow service even though the place was mostly empty on Sat, May 22 at 1 pm. The server seemed upset to have to serve us and the table next to us. Very strange experience.
We have had 5-star experiences at Ri Ra before. Friday evening was.....different. Possibly a newer server, maybe shifting COVID-19 protocols, might even have been just a random combination of staff, but we felt like we were less important than other things going on in the restaurant at the time. It was busy, but not outrageously so and while our meal was delicious and made to our specifications, and the server was certainly polite, we had to find our own silverware and our server kept leaving before we were all done ordering.
We were there on Thursday, May 20th with an 8:30pm reservation. The host was not friendly; he did not smile or say much at all. Our server greeted us quickly and took our drink order, however, she forgot our waters. We asked for a minute to decide on our food order and it took her so long to come back to our table, we were just about to get up to go find her (and we are very patient people!). We ordered an appetizer to share and 2 entrees. The entrees came, but the appetizer didn't. The entrees were delivered by someone else, and our server never came back to check on us. This meant I could not order a second drink, my husband couldn't ask for ketchup for his fries, and she had no idea if we were happy with our meals or not. Again, it took her so long to finally come back to the table, we were done with our meals and asked for the check. And, if another server walked by our table during that time period, we certainly would have asked them to find our server for us, but no one did. And finally, the entire time we were there, the two large tables to the left of us sat uncleared and filled with dirty dishes. It was a very disappointing experience.
We have enjoyed many nice lunches at RiRa's over the years and have purchased many gift cards to give to those in our various families who have enjoyed the restaurant with us. This particular occasion was a birthday celebration for our 86 year old grandfather who brought with him two gift cards that he had been given prior to the recent Covid situation. When payment time came, we were told that his gift cards would not be honored because they were over two years old. One of us politely asked to speak to a manager who would not give any consideration to the issue. A follow up email to the management which I sent was never acknowledged. I understand that the cards were older but such a failure in customer service is unjustified in our opinion. It would have been most appropriate to at least give some consideration.
Good Pub, nice views of docks/harbor..food quite good, service was also quite good.
Don't give out 10's unless I'm beyond impressed but again good pub, nice selection of beers
Unique and delicious tasting food. Beautiful view of the harbor.
I had to seek out the server for our second round of drinks (saw her eating a sandwich- clearly she had forgotten our order). We were a party of four. Another server brought out three meals. We assumed he was bringing back the fourth. After 10 minutes I again had to search out our server, who upon checking said the missing meal was delivered to another table. She comped a cup of soup but the missing meal arrived after the rest of us had finished. Would not recommend.
Enjoyed a late lunch overlooking the channel. Meal was very tasty
The food was great but the drinks were
mediocre at best. The waitress had no personality and was rushing us to order. Not a relaxing vibe.
Great variety of food choices, nice views from the top floor dining room
Loved it. Will definitely go again. The whole experience was great
They have the best French fries and onion rings I have ever tasted. Server was attentive and friendly. Will definitely come for a visit again
All excellent - drinks a little pricey but that the Old Port. Will be back! Love the chicken app.
Lunch with the family
Great food good price awesome service
The restaurant was short-staffed, but we weren't in a hurry. The service was good, food was great, view of the pier was fantastic. all in all a great time. LOTS of gluten free options!
The braised beef poutine was phenomenal. Great selection of Irish fare and more common meals -- something for everyone!
Not enough wait staff to cover the number of tables. Worst service I’ve ever experienced. Several tables were complaining and walking out as we were finally leaving after 2 hours of our waitress serve every table except ours. We saw the recognition on her face a few times as she noticed we had been forgotten about but never brought us anything we asked for (drinks, app plates, water..) We asked for drinks and water twice and we sat at our table for 45 minutes with nothing at which point we had to track her down twice to get the check. Very poor management if there was one on duty as several people were visibly upset.
We found the menu to be very limited. Not sure if this is due to the pandemic. Although the food we had was good, it was all too salty. From the appetizer (poutine shared by the table) to four different entrees, way too much salt!! Our server, however, was very good.
We were there for Easter. It was such a relaxing dinner. Having someone else cook and wait upon us allowed us to enjoy each other’s company to the fullest. The appetizers and meals were delicious and the service was wonderful.
Easter lunch! Lovely experience!
I always look forward to going when I'm in town. Food was delicious & staff was extremely friendly!
Dinner was fantastic and we had a beautiful table overlooking the harbor. Wonderful night!
Exceptional experience. Lovely space upstairs, great food, excellent service! Can't wait to return.
Food and drinks were great. Service could’ve been better, but great experience overall
Although they've changed their recipe a bit over the years, I'm still a huge fan of their fish n' chips, a very large, crunchy battered filet with a lot of fries on the side. My guest and I made reservations for lunch, which turned out to be unnecessary due to fewer people dining out these days. We chose a table by the bar next to the fireplace. Very cozy, great service, the food was superb. I tried their curry chicken pot pie, a real winner. Love this place.
Best Irish restaurant in Portland
This was our second visit the first time was incredible but this time we were disappointed. First, a seating chart would help prevent food runners from “auctioning” food.
Appetizers super salty, server kept forgetting to bring us things and we had to flag her down many times. At one point we got up to grab silverware and napkins from another table. When the food came out 4/6 people got their food and server looked at the other two and said “you didn’t want anything right” she forgot to place two orders. Mistakes happen but we would have expected a manager to visit our table, apologize, offer a dessert etc. We hope Management takes this feedback to train the team and offer the same level of service we experienced our first time.
We had a perfect table for 2 in small alcove during COVID. The food was very good, great following of health protocols. Thank you
Great Irish pub in down town Portland right on the water. If you can get an upstairs seat on the window it's well worth it.
Made a reservation for girlfriends birthday. However, they could not find it even after we showed confirmation. And sat us in the bar.
