Booked a table for 2 on a Thursday night for a romantic dinner. Restaurant is packed and loud, it was not what I was after. Despite that, the layout of the restaurant is good, open kitchen is a nice touch. Food is delicious we had scallops, kingfish cervice, lamb, fish of the day and sides of potatoes and broccoli it was all amazing. Had two French martini’s ( made on grape fruit juice instead of pineapple juice for some reason ) not good... Moved onto a bottle of French Sav Blanc, what a pleasant surprise it was delicious, easily rival anything from Marlborough region in NZ. Something odd happened here though, after being presented at the table with the wine, the waitress then took it away back to the bar and poured her self a toast and drank the wine, before bringing it back and pouring it. I asked her about it. She said it’s what we do to ensure the wine has not spoiled. Really ? I’ve never seen that before, of yes it’s very common. Well I don’t think it’s up to the server to tell the patrons whether the wine is good or not. Further I’m pretty sure having wait staff drink alcohol and then serve it is against the Qld liquor act, but it’s not my restaurant. Overall I would go back but with a group of 4 so we could make lots of noise with everyone else. Oh and is suggest letting the patron taste and determine the wine not a 20 year old waitress.

Restaurant Labart never disappoints. It is so refreshing each time to experience high quality in food, wine and service. There are very few restaurants with this eye for detail. Alex and Karla Labart are to be congratulated for their consistent high standards. No wonder they won Gourmet Travellers ‘Best Restaurant in Queensland’ Award for 2024.

Went there for our 6 years anniversary. Was an early dinner for us. We were happy that we booked the earliest table because not many guests there and the waiter can fully concentrate on service which we were not only enjoyed the food and the environment. Absolutely love it!
