Restaurant Eighty Eight at The Convent - Pokolbin
Overlooking the Wisteria Courtyard at The Convent, Restaurant Eighty Eight at The Convent - Pokolbin serving Breakfast and High Tea in a more relaxed dining experience than Circa 1876, it strongly focuses on using organic produce that is ethical and sustainable with the vast majority sourced from the Estate’s nearby organic kitchen garden, chicken coop, bee hive and quail eggs from our onsite Japanese quails.
Head Chef Christopher Dzidic have collaborated to create a menu that brings to life the flavours of the kitchen garden’s food and injects hints of quirkiness, influenced by Christopher’s own personality.
A small menu that is executed perfectly. Delightful service that provides the right balance of attention and space. An intimate restaurant in a beautiful setting.
Anniversary dinner, romantic and beautiful. Food was excellent as was the service. Will definately go back.
Unfortunately we were 2 of only 4 people in the restaurant which meant zero atmosphere. A shame as some of the food was good but sadly the overall experience was not. It was a Thursday so maybe the weekend would be better.
A very relaxing environment perfect for a delicious High Tea experience. Service was excellent, staff were all very friendly. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Great service and atmosphere for couples to visit. The food is well presented and is delicious. Perhaps offering a few more variety of deserts would be good.
Amazing service and view. Have already recommended it to many of my friends. Cannot rate highly enough
Excellent venue in Convent Hotel. limited menu choices and wine list. Food quality was very good and service also good. Due to limited menu you need to review menu before reserving a table.
Stunning venue, beautiful food and excellent service from the staff. Couldn’t fault it.
Beautiful venue with friendly staff. Excellent food and good value for money.
Lovely place however our breakfast reservation was forgotten and the chef had left for the day. The Lady at reception helped us although she wasn't prepared/expecting us for breakfast.
Great location, beautiful estate but poor and overpriced food.
The venue itself is absolutely stunning, and worth visiting for that alone. The service was very good, however the restaurant was virtually empty so not a good gauge of service. The food was a little disappointing. the Lamb in the main course was overcooked, and the Beef Cheeks were dry. The wine was good without being excellent which was also disappointing given you're dining in a supposedly "top" restaurant within one of Australia's best known wine regions!
Great ambience and service. The food was good too. The only thing that hindered our lovely experience was the terrible stench that engulfed the place towards the end of High Tea. The stench was most likely due to the waste disposal unit (truck) that was operational at the time.
Excellent evening with great hospitality and food, didn't see the ghost though
Wonderful high tea experience out on the verandah of the restaurant. The Convent is beautiful and well worth a visit. The staff went out of their way to make it a lovely experience, the high tea food was delicious and all made on site.
The restaurant was lovely and staff were pleasant and welcoming, We thought the High tea was very over priced for what you got. The tiny pastries were not the freshest and the tapioca pudding did not make sense with the rest of the food. The sandwiches were nice and it would've been great to have some more savoury food .
I was a bit disappointed, the food was OK but not great for cost. Also staff not trained I don't think to see outside the square or wait on tables. If a guest doesn't order an entree then you take away the knife/fork. I left my entree knife/fork on the edge of the table near my water glass so they would take it away. I had my water refilled a few times and still my knife/fork sat there. I actually asked them to remove them when dessert was delivered. The menu is very limited which is fine but you would think they would nail the meals but my ribs were dry and so was the beef cheek. We ate at quite a few fantastic restaurants during our time in Hunter Valley and this night was my fiance's birthday and it was our lest favourite to be honest
