This was a post theatre choice as the menu was varied and you could also choose small bar plates menu( tapas style).
Arrived on time and was given the choice of seats. Even though it was not full and was half empty there was an atmosphere. It was buzzy and lots of conversations going on. We liked it imm. Staff were great and were very attentive.
As we were eating late we were aware of service but it was excellent . Food was good, Fish & chips were good although I would have preferred normal fries over big fat chips.
My wife’s Caesar salad was lovely and she really enjoyed and commented on it .
Overall we would certainly return, there was good banter with a couple of the waiters who on the night were excellent.
A lovely evening spent in the bar and then restaurant. Group of 5, nice table, great food and drink, excellent service.
Service good and the restaurant is comfortable but the food was poor and the wine overpriced. I have eaten here on many occasions but felt very let down on this occasion
Great food, lovely space. The bench we sat at running along the wall was uncomfortable!
It was a birthday celebration for my daughter but the service staff clearly did not take note or make an effort despite me having indicated whilst booking. Somewhat disappointed with the service.
The decor is vibrant and upbeat. The service is slow which if you've come for an afternoon and not in a rush, fine, but we did wait along time for service or even a drink after being seated.
Afternoon tea was well presented and flavour some, just lacked a connection with the drinks, which were severed at different times
Excellent from beginning to end. Just a wonderful Christmas dinner. Our server was so accommodating with our picky eater children - he was lovely. And the food was absolutely delicious. From the welcome drink to the desserts, one of the best meals we’ve had. Thank you for a memorable Christmas!
A very enjoyable evening on Christmas Eve, a strangely quiet night in central London! Food was excellent, well presented and perfectly cooked and the service was efficient in the calm, quiet way that demonstrates good management. A tad on the expensive side for me, but I am a northerner and still resent London prices even after living down here for years! Overall, a real treat, we’ll be back.
Cosy, excellent food and very friendly service. Great atmospere
6.15pm booking for 4 on 24th December - superb cusine and great service. not too busy, just right. background music included relaxing cool jazz and just the right level. Overall, everyone loved the place and the service. Very friendly Portuguese waiter who was excellent and made the experience very good. Attentive staff throughout the restaurant.
Outstanding service and such a fun night with delicious food to top it all off!
Lovely friendly service for afternoon tea.
Good, lively venue for lunch or early evening cocktails. Tasty steaks, in particular. Wine selection small but seems carefully chosen. Only downside was the service was inattentive (not bad, just not really bothered). Overall, I would definitely come again, but not for a business lunch where time is limited.
Great service and delicious food. Went for lunch and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
We dropped in for Sunday brunch before going to the theatre.
Staff were wonderful especially our waitress Judith. Made a Christmas trip out very special for myself and my family.
the air conditioning was broken so it's very cold in there
I enjoyed a lovely pre-Christmas meal with some friends and we loved it! The food was great but most impressive was the service - very attentive, but natural and with some humour! I would thoroughly recommend the Refuel to anyone - wonderful!
All the staff are amazing. I love that they will go the extra mile. More than willing to adapt food menu to cater for individuals. I have eaten here - lunch, afternoon tea and Christmas lunch the last 2 years. My only disappointment is that whilst I know they change the menu on a regular basis I felt there was less choice, especially for vegetarians
A loud and lively place, but it was a Friday evening close to Christmas. Good very good, service excellent. All round a very enjoyable evening in lovely surroundings.
Good overall.a bit pricey. Bottle of wine, 2 mains, 2 coffee, 1 brandy- £160
Refuel restaurant is always excellent (been loads of times) but on this occasion was slightly let down by being extra busy. Service is normally fantastic but this time a few mistakes crept in - dessert order was forgotten and had to be ordered twice, we were never offered bread, and a few minor items forgotten from our starter and main. However as usual food was delicious. We will definitely be back when, hopefully less busy, they will be back to usual brilliant self.
The food was excellent as was the service. Although we were still within our two hour slot we were asked to vacate the table for our coffee and the bill by heading for the' library' - which turned out to be oversubscribed! We therefore had to have our coffee in the lobby from an improvised 'table', which was disappointing. We would definitely return however but we were disappointed at being hurried out of the restaurant where we had spent a considerable amount of hard earned cash!!
Very loud and busy, but nice venue. Bar had Xmas parties on so quite loud, but it was around Xmas. They started by moving us next to the kitchen, also would have been next to door where all the smokers were going. Glad we moved as we heard a lot of swearing and slamming in kitchen. Service very attentive and nice looking menu and food generally good. Apart from a steak we ordered at medium rare, which was at best medium and I would say over that. They insisted it wasn’t and said would take another 30 minutes to do another one, which says it all! For a £40 steak really unacceptable and they did take it off the menu, but there was no need for a 10 minute argument on whether it was cooked properly or not, which left us all with a clear view of not returning.
Extremely pleasant experience (my fourth). Only objection from my partner that they didn't offer draft beer.
Service was excellent.
A vibrant, colourful dining room with an abundance of ambience. Service is outstanding and whole team is an absolute delight. Menu is very varied and food is of a very high standard beautifully presented and served. Such a relaxed atmosphere it is a joy to spend time in the bar and restaurant.
Super staff and wonderful food. A really lovely evening, I look forward to visiting Refuel again very soon!
Professional, friendly service. Great food. Helped to make this a great special birthday for our friend Taira
Although the girls at the front desk were very nice when I arrived, the service went from bad to worse. There seemed to be too many staff and we didn't know who was looking after us. Starters were served before we had our drinks. We ordered a bottle of white wine and had to ask three times to top our glasses up. In the end we paid the bill and the dessert plates hadn't been cleared. We weren't even asked if we wanted coffee. I had a couple of guests with me and felt embarrassed to ask for the service to be remove from the bill but I was very tempted to. What a disappointment!
Great lively place to meet for a drink before the theatre. We ordered a few small plates from the bar menu. The food was delicious but portion sizes miniscule. Service was friendly - but it's a busy place and so some patience is required.
Loved the setting and the buzz of this place for dinner before the theatre. As so often happens, had to ask for the set menu rather than being given it. One of us had two courses from the a la carte menu and the other two courses from the set menu. Big difference in price and a small difference in quality. The a la carte dishes were very good, delicious and substantial. The set menu fare was good but not exceptional. A hefty bill for two course and a couple of drinks but really enjoyed the evening and would return. Think a few drinks at the bar looks like fun.
Not a lot of tea selection for afternoon tea package.
Had a great night, very entertaining sat at the bar watching the barman make cocktails, before heading to our table, then enjoyed a wonderful meal.
great place, the best service, great food even on the set menu
Simply exceptional service! Great food, location and vibe. The service is always a winner.
Absolutely wonderful experience top to bottom. I had a 3 course meal for £25, which came with a drink and a free ice cream. The food was excellent. The waiting staff was superb and very professional. The ambiance was lovely. It’s a perfect place for a date and I will definitely go back again.
We had a nice brunch, the place was cozy, relaxed and comfortable. The place wasn't crawded so the service was accurate and the food very nice. Definitely I'll come back!
A busy Saturday night, excellent atmosphere. Service was superb. Not a cheap night, but good value for money. Will definitely be going again.
Good location , nice staff - top food
Lovely restaurant with great food, presentation and taste, and the service was attentive and friendly.
