Redsalt Restaurant - Canberra
Redsalt’s generous buffet breakfast includes toast, cereal and pastries, a ‘super foods’ section, fruit and a fresh juicer, along with a range of favourite hot breakfast options and more. Also included is freshly made barista coffee and eggs or omelettes cooked to order. For lunch, choose something light from the menu, such as a salad or wrap, or enjoy a more substantial dish.
The a la carte dinner menu offers a range of seasonal dishes, with a focus on regional produce. Diners with specific dietary needs are catered for and a children’s menu is available. For a healthy meal option, choose one of the popular grill items, served with a side dish of your choice.
Special events are offered throughout the year, including the popular Christmas Day buffet lunch and New Year's Eve buffet dinner.
Our experience was a positive one from parking through the very colourfully suited COncierge, to our water and waitress.
The food was very good as expected and the wine service was also very refined as expected and a bit more.
One point with wine selection, red wines in particular for myself, is the lack of choices for a type eg. Merlot only one available, Shiraz only one available. Be good to see at least two choices, noting the shiraz was one off selection and the most expensive of the reds (which by the way we selected). One local and one interstate selections at least in the same grape type.
Being a week night, the restaurant was not busy which allowed us to enjoy our 4 way discussions and chat, which was very pleasant, noting however, the here tables with people were in same close vicinity.
Ambience was excellent, noting however, hovering over us near the end of the evening subtly asking nus to leave which we eventually did. As guests at the hotel our friends found there was no other bar to enjoy a night cap.
Overall, a very enjoyable meal.
I visited Redsalt for the first time with a group for lunch (8 people). There were only 2 other tables, one with 2 people, the other with 4, not exactly busy. We waited almost 45 mins for our meals, burgers, wraps and soup. When they finally came out, half of the tables meals were cold, (hot chips are very unpleasant when cold)! My wrap was very nice and my chips were hot, but I won't be returning or recommending to others. Also, $25 for a wrap and chips is very expensive. However, the staff were very friendly and pleasant, couldn't fault them at all.
Service excellent, food took a little while to arrive but was cooked to perfection, and I did order steak. Delicious!
Menu was quite small, this tells me that the quality will always be excellent, reason being is only the best ingredients will be procured to accomodate such a menu!
Trust me we were not disappointed.

Easily the worst restaurant i've had. Dinner receive our meals, waiting staff and floor manager could not have cared there were 11 people from different tables who didn't receive their meals. drinks were forgotten and the meals we saw when we left were mostly left. Never ever will I go back.
Redsalt had a potential to be an excellent venue, with a spacious layout, views and part of a four star hotel. Unfortunately while the food was great and service was attentive, if a little vague at times, the ambiance was non-existent.
The tables were set with a bare minimal utensils, no table cloth and our shared entre was consumed using the bread plates. In other words the room set up was more befitting a staff cafeteria rather than intimate dining.
The pity is the food actual was really good. The Lamb loin was uber-tender and the steak while a little dry at the ends, was tasty as was the accompanying vegetables.
With some attention to details rather than cost cutting, Redsalt's top end restaurant prices for the food may seem a little easier to bare if the surroundings were given the same love as the kitchen oviously gave that food.
Our host Maggie was excellent from the moment we first arrived. Very friendly, very accomodating. The service was great, and the food was good. Maybe a little too pricey but it was tasty, and well presented. Great for groups, as you can split the bills - always appreciated. The only con was the room temperature, the air-con perhaps was a little too high for dining. Other than that, the Red Salt Restaurant at the Casino is a nice choice for a mid-week get together with friends and family. Thank you
The staff were outstanding and the food was exceptional
Red Salt presents very well. The staff were helpful and friendly. The menu is not extensive, but there are some good choices on it. We were prepared to enjoy the evening, BUT there was music playing from a speaker above our heads at intrusive levels. - loud enough to prevent easy conversation across a two person table. Jarring rather than calming music, and given the age profile of the other guests I suspect that it was not appropriate for the majority. Twice I asked if it could be turned down, but I did not notice any appreciable improvement.
Finally (after half an hour) I asked the manager why it was necessary to play music at an intrusive level, and of a bouncy kind.
He explained that it was hotel music and he had no choice in the music style. But he did agree to turn it down, which he did, and from then on the evening was perfect. Good food, good atmosphere.
I am constantly amazed at restaurants that add to the aggregate noise level by playing loud music. This one was nowhere near as bad as many, but it was still intrusive. In my view meals should be enjoyed with conversation. If you want music go to a bar. Managers could do well to ask their guests if the music is too loud as a matter of course. Or better still turn it down once the conversation levels rise - which they have to to compete with music.
Food was nice, only sir loin steak had quite a few veins in it which was annoying to eat. But the flavors were good and dessert was tasty.
Poor attention to detail by wait staff

Proximity to Casino is Redsalts best selling point.
At first, we arrived late, and we understand that we had to order as soon as possible, we had no problem with that, when we ordered food, the waiter seemed to not happy or a bit rushing, his attitude didnt seem to be comfortable and kept sighing which was annoying, and he didnt ask for drinks order, our water glasses were empty and no refilling, we were really unhappy with the experience, we thought to get a nice and quite lunch but it turned out being an uncomfortable lunch instead. The food we ordered were good for the price. But overall, i wouldnt come back even the food was good. Oh, but the second waiter who substitute the first one was nice.
Such lovely service, staff were happy to place us on another table after our numbers had changed, orders were completely right, I had no hassles, the food was absolutely lovely. Would likly come back.

Beautiful food and seated by the window was nice. But there was no separation or privacy from the hotel and people walking by. It took away from all the positives of the night.
Great food - not many diners on a Friday night so we did feel the need to leave fairly early as the restaurant was set for breakfast. That said, very happy to have gone.

Was very disappointed in my main of fish . Tough & over cooked.
Had chosen to eat here for a truffle menu and since staying @ hotel for convenience.
Was offered another meal but doesn't make up for original disappointment.
We have been here quite a few times so I was apprehensive at first to see that the menu has changed and our favourite seafood plate was gone. There was a wide variety to choose from. We ordered the pork belly, the salmon and lamb rump. The dishes were very good especially their presentation although the lamb rump was a bit too salty.
We enjoyed an outstanding lunch - interesting choices, delicious food beautifully presented. Service very good.
Very disappointed ! Food was underwhelming and not worth $79.00 per head.. Arrived for our 6.30pm booking and we were gone by 7.15pm..
One of the worst dining experiences we have had!
Excellent service, efficient and friendly. Food was of good quality, no fuss and well thought out menu. Children's menu was excellent. Great, kid-friendly mud cake, always a winner! Particularly when the kitchen arranged for my son to take it back to the room so he could eat it in bed watching TV.
The food was overcooked - I get you can get fish wrong but at least pasta should be all dented and not soup. A party of 6 got given 2 menus and when sparkling water was ordered for the table, the waitress came with one bottle putting a little puddle in each glass.
Extremely disappointing given the prices.

We value the name of this hotel as we usually stay Crawn Plaze when we travel overseas, eg, Paris, Shanghai, and Jinan (July last year)....we enjoyed variety of food arranged at your hotel restaurant.
AS a special catch up with a friend who came from Melbourne for a conference on Wednesday, 30 Nov, I took her for a lunch at your restaurant, Unfortunately we did wait too long for these two main dishes and my friend has nearly missed her meeting in the afternoon section, and we could even no time to have a desert and a coffee as the main dish did take nearly one hour time to be ready - we were so disappointed as no one did tell us that lunch would have to take longer to be prepared...

Very pleasant on a quiet Tuesday night. The only real matter was the heavy dose of Lynx on the waiter .
The dining experience at red Salt was very good, the meals were excellent quality, the staff and service was exemplary. We were celebrating a milestone anniversary and will be back to celebrate the next one, we thoroughly recommend Red Salt for any fine dining occasion.
