Red Spice QV Ratings and Reviews
We try to come here at least once a month. The lunch banquet menu is inexpensive, beautiful food and great service. The pork belly, the beef curry and the chicken are to die for - and topped off with a bottle of Sauv Blanc is superb. We also love the fact that one of our group can order the vegetarian option - and we are all happy. Love this place!
My husband enjoyed lunch at RSPQV a while ago but this experience was very disappointing. Although the service was excellent and could not be faulted and the entree's were fabulous (3 x lamb ribs, 1 x chicken wings and 1 x corn fritters), 3 of the 5 main courses were not good. Our friend did not like the pork belly (not sure why) and my husband only ate a mouthful of the chicken he ordered because it was 'supposedly' spicy (which it wasn't). The chicken was cold and poorly presented so he shared my beef cheeks which were also pretty ordinary. We would have preferred an earlier sitting to 8pm but wanted more than 2 hours. Overall, I am sorry to say, it is unlikely we will return and very unlikely our friends would recommend it either.
GREAT SERVICE, HAPPY CUSTOMERS, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AT RED SPICE QV
I would like to thank you to all the staff and for their excellent service on the day. All my work colleagues loved the food and service, the meal was defintely value for money. Highly recommended to anyone for all occasions. The food varies but always with high quality every time, there's always something different and new on the menu. All my friends that I have taken there have recommended to their families and friends. No doubt myself and the team will be back. Keep up the great work guys, I could not thank you enough for everything on the day and all other times. :-)
I have been to Red Spice Restaurant a few times but this was the first time that I had got the pre-theatre menu. We were a bit disappointed as our appetiser was cold, which wasn't too big an issue except it was straight out of the fridge so was freezing. We then ordered 3 mains and 1 of the mains was cold, one being a salad which is fine but the same thing it was freezing like it had just been taken out of the fridge. We also felt like we were rushed, as soon as we had ordered, our appetiser came out, as soon as our appetisers were finished our mains came out. We got there at 5.30pm and we were finished by 6.10pm. We hung around having a drink but felt really full and wished everything had been spaced out a bit more. The pre-theatre menu was great value and we loved the pork belly.
As per usual the food was cooked to perfection, the ambiance was just right and the service was spectacular.
Happy Hour was timed perfectly so the group could enjoy a few pre-dinner beverages in the bar area and the beer and wine list was very complementary of the menu items.
The pork belly was definitely the winner of the night - the Chili Caramel glaze complemented the crispy skin and tender pork - the duck was a mixed bag but overall was good for those who enjoyed the duck.
Fantastic food! Great identification on nut free options (and other allergens). The only negative was we were rushed off our table so they could setup for the next sitting, which we completely understand but some earlier notice would have made it a little less stressful .
We have eaten at the McKillop Street Restaurant and enjoyed it far more than last night. Unfortunately the food was not amazing. The lamb ribs a little over cooked. The Pork Belly was too fatty and sweet needed more vinegar to counteract the sweetness. I enjoyed the noodles and the wagyu beef. Would I go back probably not I feel it will just become a chain restaurant and I don't particularly like chain restau. They may work in the US and UK but I don't think they will work here in Melbourn
overall, good experience. went with a group and it was a nice casual feel. décor was nice. service was good. food was okay. the lamb noodles was way too sweet and had to eat it with rice. was expecting noodles to be eaten alone. the pokr belly was good but again, too much flavour and very sweet.
