Ramen & Izakaya Himeji
We have a large range of over 50 different kinds of Sake, Shochu and Umeshu that are even rare in Japan. Yamazaki, Hibiki, Hakushu and Kakubin from World's No.1 award winning Suntory Whisky are available too.
For Sushi & Sashimi, we offer Kingfish from South Australia, local fish from Adelaide, Sea Urchin and Salmon from Tasmania, King Prawn from Western Australia, Swordfish from Queensland as well as premium seafoods such as Alfonsino, Snapper, Scampi and etc. from New Zealand which has similar climate condition to Japan.
Black Fin Tuna Belly, Scallop from Hokkaido, and other seafoods from Japan are also on our menu.
Food was amazing. pork chashew incredible! service though is rather substandard. we ordered extra chashew, and we only got 1 extra serving (asked for 3). we had to ask 3 times before it actually came out. aditionally we gave up asking people for the bill at the end after asking 3 times, and just went up to the register instead. My motto: go there for the food, not the service.
We were having friends from overseas and sitting in the Tatami room. The atmosphere was good, the food and the service were excellent. The head chef Mr Shozo Ikeda came into the room and say hello and explain the Robata beef (wagyu beef marble 9). I give Himeji 5 star. Gambatte and keep it up.
Best ramen we've ever had!! The chashew pork was literally melt in your mouth! Will definitely be visiting again
Very reasonably priced, friendly staff and great food.
Food was okay but a bit pricey especially with 10% surcharge on public holiday
The food was fantastic, most impressed with the deluxe sashimi with so many varieties of fresh seafood.
The service however was appalling slow, we had to ask the staff SIX times to take our order over 20 mins. Kept on saying “just a minute”, eventually had to stand up and speak loudly to the boss and he eventually asked someone else to come and take our order. Food was fantastic but the order was back to front, all the mains and hot food and ramen came first, after very long waits (and again had to chase them up three times) did our entrees and sashimi arrived (which we were stuffed already and didn’t feel like eating anymore as the wait had been too long).
The food honestly is fantastic and credit to the kitchen but the wait staff was a mess, hopefully was just a once off bad experience that we had.
Food and service were great, even during busy times. Had ramen one time in the past which had great value and taste. Went for the some Japanese bbq (mainly yakitori) dishes this time - although it tasted good, a cheaper set deal would be nice. Additionally the vegetable tempura felt like it was lacking in value (might be because of the small amount of food served in a big dish though). The 10% surcharge on the public holiday came as a surprise at the end though (would have been nice to be notified earlier). Otherwise a good experience.
Everything was great! I love it there.
Only negative was at a seat where I got the cold breeze when the door opened. Put my jacket back on so wasn’t so bad.
There is no notice or contact inform us that the restaurant closed as we had booked a table on Tuesday evening. Arrive in at 7:30 pm but found the door is closing.
Our favourite place to dine in Adelaide, delicious food always, good service & friendly staff.
I had put in a specific request for a table as it was a special occasion. If you didn't have a table available please let me know instead of sitting me at the end of your bar. The yakitori was perfect, but the miso lacked flavour.
We are experienced Japanese restaurant customers and this was a very disappointing experience.
The food was lacking flavour and quality. The kingfish sashimi was served last after all the grilled and hot dishes and was told you have to specially request it to be served first on a Saturday night. The kingfish was poor in quality and not melt in your mouth. The grilled calamari looked good but was way overcooked and was extremely chewy and no flavour. The tempura vegetables were heavily battered and were tastasteless.
This was not a happy experience and there are better choices to be had.
Our favourite Japanese restaurant, never disappoints, our friends loved it, we can’t wait to return
Great food and excellent service. Only downside is no split bills.
This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint. My family's go to is the Shogun Bento Box - it is great value and gives you a tasty selection for those that like a bit of everything. As it was a birthday celebration, we were seated in a side room with only one other table and appreciated the privacy and quiet from the rest of the restaurant which was full and quite noisy. The room has a tatami mat and you are required to remove your shoes. Overall, a great meal and great value.
Authentic Japanese dining experience, great food, good friendly service, great value, one of our favourite restaurants
My brother and I celebrated my promotion with the Chef’s Omakase and sake banquet menu. Best meal either of us have ever had - delicious doesn’t even begin to cover the truly excellent food and sake, course after course after course. Our favourites were the black cod, wagyu beef (12 marble score = melt in your mouth) and the green tea cheese cake - every morsel was fresh, perfectly presented and thoughtfully matched with sauces. Outstanding service and great ambience - a night to remember! If you order the Omakase menu, start early - it is several hours of deliciousness but well worth the time.
Food was yummy, but service could be improved. Had to flag down the waiters for tea refill. Had the banquet, but wasn't told what the dishes were.
One dish when we asked what is was they said "noodles and then rice mixed with whatever was left from your meal". Possibly a misunderstanding but did not sound particularly appealing.
We have had other meals at Himeji before and next time we will choose individual dishes instead of the banquet because the food is still quite tasty.
The 23$ grilled teriyaki chicken was not worth it - it was thigh meat, small peace, all skin.
No plain rice either on menu. Just a fancy mixture, which was extremely disappointing.
Ramen was great. Sushi was good but overpriced.
The food was amazing and so was the ambience and service. Can’t wait to visit again.
Food, service and atmosphere were all amazing, looking forward to coming back again soon.
Service was fast and friendly, but it was rather pricey for what you get
We had high hopes about this place however the hot food was a bit salty and the sashimi didn’t taste as fresh as other Japanese restaurants.
The restaurant looks classy though. We just hoped the lighting wasn’t so dark.
The service was friendly and polite but we sat in the right hand side area and the tables around there all had trouble getting service. Maybe they were understaffed that day?
Excellent food and service. The banquet was delicious and good value.
Good quality sushi and sashimi.. well worth visiting.
Authentic Japanese Isakaya cuisine and extensive list for sake. Oden needs improvement in the ingredients where potato should not be included. Sashimi plate value for money. Ramen texture and serving temperature just right. Overall, food is good and tasty. However, service quality is far from desirable. The staff has limited product and table service knowledge. We were surprised when the attendant gave us saucers to share our birthday cake!
Food was amazing and big variety. Service just as good. Definitely will go back.
Extensive menu, food was sensational and the price was very reasonable. Typical Japanese pub food (hence the word Izakaya), ramen and bento were served. Have been to there for both lunch and dinner.
