The much-celebrated chef Francesco Mazzei brings Radici, an authentic Italian trattoria to Islington; the area of London he has made his home. Radici translates as ‘roots’, and will reflect the Calabrian cuisine of Francesco’s heritage, as well as incorporating dishes from the southern Italian areas of Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, Sicily, and Sardinia.

Their lamb with polenta and cavolo nero is worth a weekly visit!
The service here is really professional and fantastic. Came here for a last hurrah before lockdown 2.0; they were incredibly busy and there were only 2 or 3 servers for the entire room, but we were warmly and promptly taken care of. That and the great food and cosy atmosphere made for a really enjoyable last supper.
Unfortunately, the seafood risotto my partner ordered was undercooked, so we have to send it back.
Pizza was instead really good!
The waitress assisted us really quickly.
Excellent food, wine and ambiance!
Always a favorite for Italian in the city, and I'm loving the current Calabrian special menu. Always get the burrata to start and the fried zucchini on the side!
Excellent. A warm welcome
In difficult times !
Great food and wine .
Radici has a great set menu if you're on a budget, but also amazing pizzas. We love it here.
Definitely my favourite local restaurant.
Fabulous, fresh food in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Every dish was wonderful - and very generous portion sizes.
We got a large collection of starters, plus a pizza to share, a main each and 2 desserts! (Obviously we couldn’t finish it all, but we had a wonderful time trying)!
What can I say it's our go to place when we are stuck for a place to go. Always great food, service and negronis
Excellent food and service. Very good anti-covid measures with staff wearing masks, spaced out tables, glass partitions and hand sanitiser. Feels safer than most restaurants at the moment.
From starters to desserts: DIVINE ✨
Everything was great
We love Radici so glad we live nearby - it's always our go to for a great meal!
Service is on par with the D&D brand of restaurants. Generally good, and it seems they try to rectify mistakes or small issues quite quickly which is a good ethos.
A nice setting for an Italian right opposite the Almeida Theatre. The interiors is perfect for a date.
Recommend the set menus, as good value for money. Sometimes though cheaper they can be disappointing compared to the main menus, but having sampled their 3 courses for £20 ( £10 with the August gov discount) it definitely is good. Meatballs as starter very good, juicy tender meat, flavourful njuda tomatoes. The tagliolini main is clearly homemade pasta with a nice blend of cheese and creamy sauce, seasoned just right to provide a satisfying richness despite the simplicity of it, tiramisu is also creamy but light with a sweet amaretto sponge.
My date had the truffle pizza which is very gastronomic being the signature item with real shavings of truffle and porcini mushrooms. This is a real treat. Nice sour dough like pizza base. The panna cotta presentation is nice, and a nice touch.
Key areas for improvement- the pizza I think should either be pre sliced, or there be a pizza cutter provided. It was very hard cutting through the dough base with standard cutlery knives. I think the tiramisu, could be improved in presentation, I wasn’t sure if the blob effect was intentional. Nothing wrong with the dessert, but I felt the other dishes were presented much better.
Overall, I would still recommend the restaurant. I would go back for sure.
Excellent - the place, staff, food, ambience & covid 19 prcatices were all spot on. A lovely and very good value for money restaurant. Definitely be back
Wouldn't recommend for vegans, a bit overpriced for what it is.
Returning customer, love the atmosphere and location. We will be back!!
Very noisy ambiance. Starters were good. Mains were disappointing. Wine was expensive. Service was very friendly but also with some problems like the food arriving to our table before the wine. Can't really recommend this restaurant. We spent £55 each for a very mediocre meal with a bottle regular wine.
Outstanding - thoughtful and great quality Italian. Get out and support them
Delicious food and accommodating - they went above and beyond to be Covid-compliant!
Love this Radici - not because it's local but they do have amazing food and a good cocktail on the side ;-)
Really enjoyable pre-theatre dinner. I’d read a few reviews about small portions but we were so stuffed we couldn’t manage a dessert. We had the sardines to start which were great but the showstopper was the polenta, mushrooms and hazelnuts. So delicious. We took the special offer of two courses plus wine but also had bread. Lovely feel to the restaurant. Charming staff.
The pizzas at Radici just get better, that dough, how do they do it? Great Italian food and a pretty good cocktail to go with it 👌🏽
Set menu very average. One starter was literally two iceberg lettuce hearts smeared with a tiny bit of avocado and sprinkled with seeds. Couldn't believe it. Service not particularly friendly either, and they couldn't get us off our table fast enough. Beautiful restaurant but won't be going back. And by the look of the empty seats everywhere, think many others have the same idea
The stand out aspect of this restaurant was definitely the service. What smiley, polite, lovely receptionists and waiters! Put as at ease and made us very comfortable. The evening standard deal was great value for money and the vegan options were delicious. Thanks for a lovely meal.
Radici is perfect for pre or post Almeida Theatre meal.
Everyone was friendly, I just think that for people on a budget - getting just a main and a dessert - there isn’t a lot of food for what you’re actually paying for. I’m aware this is an A La Carte but not everybody can pay for 5 courses plus beverages. Maybe the set menu could involve some more dishes. Also my girlfriends Tiramisu was really runny and watery and the presentation wasn’t great.
Lovely food, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend it.
Very convenient for the Almeida Theatre. The cooking is competent. I recommend sharing some zucchini fritti, which are crisp, not too oily and delicious. Main course dishes of sea bream (£22) and fettuccine with wild boar ragu (£16) could have been more generous, especially given their price. Service is friendly and efficient.
The food was excellent. Really very lovely indeed. The meatballs to start were so juicy and tasty and flavoursome, and also so filling. The portion size was generous to say the least.
The chicken was very good for the main, the sauce was powerful, slightly too strong for my pallet, but that’s me!
A really good meal and lovely staff, the only negative was it was rushed. It was such a quick meal that we were done in an hour, or just under. The food was not spaced out, and for starters to be brought within under 10 mins of ordering, felt too quick.
BUT food was delish!
The service was too efficient. Our starter arrived before our cocktail and our request to delay the main course until we had finished said cocktail was ignored. But the food was good!!
Excellent place for pre theatre meal. The pre theatre set menu was understandably limited though all the dishes we had were delicious.
The food was amazing
Great food for very fair prices in London! There was a big stand up party in the restaurant and only two waitresses so it was extremely difficult to get service but the food was so good we will definitely return, hopefully on a less busy night.
Lovely meal with great service!
I’ve been a few times now and it’s consistently good food and usually easy to get a table.
This time we had the antipasto platter to share which was good, but a bit pricey for what was on the board.
For the mains we had pizza and it was good. Worth going for just the pizza alone.
I had a very nice meal at Radici - the restaurant is beautiful inside and the polenta was fabulous. Would’ve given five stars for everything except the Evening Standard set menu was not given to me straight away (it’s such a good deal, they should definitely be handing that out first), and my meatball starter was not very hot when it came out.
Food was really nice, the service wasn't great at all which left a bad taste in the mouth.
We were seated in the Wine room and it was cold down there. The food was great as usual, can't complain about that.
