Great food, great staff... the eggplant and the halloumi were amazing and Alec the barman was awesome
A little gem hidden behind a plain façade . Queenies adds a touch of class to the somewhat humdrum restaurants we are used to choosing in Kingston.
Great new joint in Kingston, food is really tasty and value for money. Drinks good too with a good non alcoholic selection.
Fabulous atmosphere and brilliant friendly service - highly recommend a visit. Will definitely be going back!
Food was absolutely amazing. Great night. Thanks.
It was not clear when we made the booking that we would be placed outside. The explanation given was overly complicated. Service was slow and we felt lonely out in the cold! My friend left early because she was uncomfortable. We were told when a space opened up inside we would be able to come in....the crowd dwindled but we were not made aware of any space inside. Another staff member got annoyed with me because she couldn’t hear what I was saying (it’s very noisy inside). I happily repeated myself 3 times and she got grumpy for some reason. Overall it was not the evening I hoped for. At all. Nice wine though.
Please note: there is an extremely wobbly table outside that was too unstable to even hold our wine so we used the ledge.
Best service in Canberra plus fabulous food. If you want staff who intuitively know how to take care of you with character and charm then this is a great spot.
The food is incredible - a canberra banquet, with native flavours. The atmosphere is memorable like a speak easy.
Nice fitout, inventive and tasty food, really good service.
Sensational food and truly great service. Loved the Bangkok chicken and the rosé was beautiful.
We had a fantastic evening at Queenies. Food was great. Music was great and at a very well judged volume. Staff were friendly and engaging. All of the beverages sampled were very high quality. We will be back!
Best place for a drink and small plates in Canberra. Comfortable seating, great decor.Staff know their wines and are very warm and friendly. Once took my 13 year old grandson with me; he had a mocktail and was made to feel very welcome. Looking forward to the DJ spinning discs on a Friday night very soon.
Great food, ambience and people, but a pity about the service - we had to ask for it. Also they left the most expensive bottle of wine off the bill and had no idea of which it was when we pointed out the mistake. Nonetheless, we wouldreturn
Our 2nd visit and even more impressed. Excellent service, fabulous menu and great ambiance. You won't be disappointed.
The staff were lovely and very helpful and the food and drinks were delicious.
The food: everything on the menu was appealing and just a little bit different. It was refreshing to see most things on the menu - even if similar to items on offer at other places - had a little twist. Even the humble green bean - these ones were fried (but still surprisingly fresh and crispy, with not a hint of oil), and lovingly dressed in a delicious peanutty / curry sauce. The tiger prawns - chargrilled, sure, but served with a beautiful cabbage / coconut cream concoction that was so delicious, I wanted to take a bath in it. Even the lamb ribs - and I usually don’t like lamb because I find it too greasy - these ones were smoked, the fat had been rendered properly and the meat was succulent and juicy. Served on grilled nectarines - just perfect.
The drinks. We didn’t order anything fancy although I watched in envy as the bar tender whipped up fabulous looking cocktails for other diners. I did note that the lemon lime bitters ordered one of my party was prepared with the same care and attention as those cocktails. This kind of effort and investment in getting the little things right is unusual.
The service was also excellent - the wait staff were brisk and purposeful, never interrupted us mid conversation but never left us feeling ignored either. Everyone went about their work with a cheerful energy which is also unusual these days, and suggests there is more going on in this establishment’s management than just a focus on task.
My only slight gripe - and it so slight I feel almost churlish raising it - is that the sound track of pop music inanity just didn’t belong. I’d love it if they could put the same care and attention applied to everything else into the music played. Now, that would have made the experience absolutely perfect!
This was my first time at Queenies and will definitely not be my last. Thoroughly delighted with the whole experience.
Great choices in the small plates with lots of choice for vegetarians. Interesting and different cocktails.
Sophisticated food, superb service, fun atmosphere - it is both wine bar and surprising restaurant. So delighted this is my locale that I can share with visitors from other suburbs, cities and countries - all raving about the experience.
I love Queenie's. Decor is spectacular and it's buzzing without being too loud for conversation. Food selection is good and nice range of wines and cocktails. Staff were super-keen and still working out who does what - tripping over each other a bit but that'll get better and then it will be perfect! 👌
Really friendly staff & great atmosphere. Has a blast.
Delicious food, great service, fabulous looking interior.
We had a great night from the minute we walked in. The staff were attentive but not pushy, leaving us plenty of time to look over the menu. They were on hand as soon as we required another drink. The food was fabulous.
The atmosphere was good, we had starters and they were overcooked, very small portions. They split bills which was a bonus.
Loved the interior design. Menu very interesting but a little overpriced. Drinks menu was promising but my cocktail ended up being underwhelming. Gin and Tonic had an enormous ice cube so it was a 3 sip drink - very disappointing. Service was bad - we had to chase our order and seemed to be overlooked by the wait staff (however they were very pleasant when we did see them).
Such a great addition to Kingston! Whether you just want a drink or dinner
Food is delicious, and great value. Good wine list too!
Amazing food and incredible service. The team were so accommodating of our request stay beyond the 2 hour sitting.
Refreshing menu and share plates to accompany the great wine selection.
We enjoyed house cocktails and waiting staff provided excellent menu recommendations.
Love, love, love! Food, service, ambiance and the drinks.
Fabulous dining experience. Most delicious beef ever. Thanks Queenies! We'll all be back.
The food was great, it took quite a while for us to order, although the waiter was very friendly and helpful. The music was way too loud!! It's a restaurant not a night club.
Great food & great service. The restaurant had a great vibe. Will definitely be coming back.
Service was on point, cocktails amazing a d the food fabulous. Queenis has become our group’s favorite go to.
Great food service & cocktails
It was a good place for a cocktail,no food I just drank cocktails.
Our evening at Queenies was very pleasant. The service varied from over attentiveness to inattentiveness. Having an assigned waiter would possibly prevent this.
Another area for concern is that all the food was presented at once which resulted in some dishes becoming cold by the time we got to eat them. Staggering meals a little would perhaps prevent this. Overall Queenies was a very pleasant dining experience providing refreshing Australian flavours.
From the welcome, this was no ordinary dining experience. Canberra has needed a space like this for quite some time. We were a party of 4, celebrating a birthday. The service in particular was outstanding, attentive without invasion. Food a highlight, options were varied with nobody left behind. Wine/drinks list was interesting with points of difference from other venues. A definite new favourite and a welcome establishment.
We had a girls’ night out on Saturday, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were super friendly, service was good, if a little slow initially and the food was very tasty. I personally loved the music, but one of our group found it a tad loud. I believe the staff may have adjusted the volume slightly for us, which was appreciated. We’ll definitely be back. 😊👍🏼
Nice atmosphere, attentive wait staff and reasonable prices.
The meals took a long time to come out and there seemed to be a mix up in the kitchen somewhere.
But the waitstaff identified the issue, provided a free round of drinks and apologised for the delay.
Based on that happy to give them another try.
The food was great, the service excellent with an interesting menu.
Very disappointing to book and be given a table at the front door when many other tables were available.
Great venue, highly professional staff. Service levels are high and food and drink offers are relatively unique and excellent. Quite different to other local venues in that it offers a quality bar and food experience. Will visit regularly.
