The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.
What Insiders Are Saying
Even though it's in Midtown, this multi-level meat market serves up one of our favorite steaks in town, and it's not what you might expect from a steakhouse in the area.
Arrived at 7:45 to a table for 8:45, we had to wait until 9:10 before we had a sit
Great cocktail , amazing food !!
Business dinner for out of town colleagues. As expected, everything was terrific. Service is always gracious; food is special and delicious. Even a little celebrity sighting this time.
QM never disappoints.
The food is amazing. The service is impeccable. Unfortunately the room temperature was freezing. It was so cold at our table we couldn’t even stay for dessert.
Food and service were excellent. My guest and I had a wonderful time. The only thing that missed the mark was a wine recommendation which was a little pricy ($300+) and not in line with what we were looking for. I think this was a matter of asking the wrong person (Junior server; a helper).
Amazing food and service. The corn creme bruelle is to die for
One of my favorite restaurants.
I had great time ours Anniversary with my wife the food and wine fantastic👍Beautiful place too have steak 🥩wonderful service
Tried the ginger beer for the first time. It was outstanding along with the main meal.
Outstanding quality of food and wine but deafeningly loud and you do get cramped in a bit. Would definitely go back.
Made a rez for a Thurs night and got seated immediately. It’s a lively place with good decor - a bit dark for my taste; needed to use our cellphone flashlight for the menu.
We had oysters - great
Hanger Steak - good
Sautéed spinach - good
Not sure - some Potato side - I think they were floppy and not crispy enough - the slices were too big
Service - Ok. I had to ask them to put our bottle of wine on ice; server didn’t make any suggestions and overall didn’t seem to want to bother with us - maybe figured with the price of our dinner, they’d get a generous tip regardless of the service.
Had a business lunch there last week. Everyone thought it was an excellent choice and everyone enjoyed their meals. One MUST order the corn brulee' as a side. It was fantastic!
I had been here for several business dinners, but this was a casual lunch and it was just as positive an experience. Our service Matt was very personable and made sure we were never wanting for anything.
Let me begin by saying I have been to this location as well as the Miami location a half dozen times each. I USUALLY love this place. Tonight was not one of those nights. Start to finish, it was a systemic failure.
Arriving at Quality Meats, our table was not ready, as a result, we were redirected to the bar to wait and consume grandpa’s cough medicine. My wife ordered a wine, while I ordered an Old Fashioned with Buffalo Trace Bourbon. Her wine was fine, meanwhile my old fashioned was missing some accompaniments I had been accustomed to having in my old fashioned, namely the black cherries that soak into the bourbon, capping off as a nice end cap to your drink. Upon requesting these said cherries, notice “cherries,” the bartender rolled his eyes and then puts ONE cherry on to the drink in an act of disgust. Despite this, I still tip him twenty percent on the drinks. When the wait for our table took even longer, we ordered a second round. This time, I asked for the cherries, and yet again, NONE on arrival. So I ask again, and with the same moxie, he channels his disdain for my outlandish request into ONE cherry. Of note, meanwhile a very friendly couple appear to the right of me, both order the same beverage as I, and are thoroughly accompanied with the requested garnishments. Moving on.
We had an open table reservation for 8pm, 30 min later, we were finally seated. Upon ordering, I don’t know if the kitchen had an off night, outside of the special burrata dish for the evening, there wasn’t one dish, which I’d ordered multiples times before that was satisfactory. The bacon was egregiously fatty. Our entire table of steaks arrived with the incorrect temperature. Medium rare was medium well. The medium well steak was nearly carcinogenic. The cream corn while flambéed on the top, oddly was cold in the center.
Overall, not the experience I have come to expect from them. I have left notes on GOOD experiences I have had in the past with them.
Very loud, but good food
At first it seems to be a nice place, food is pretty decent, but nothing out of the extraordinary, staff is very nice and efficient. But the lightening is miserable, one barely knows what's in your plate, and the space around your table is very sparse, no privacy what soever, as the owners rather prefer to jam the restaurant for maximum profit, than giving you some quality space.
Food and service were amazing...We would definitely recommend going there.
We celebrated my husband's birthday at Quality Meats and it was a perfect experience!!! Thank you very much for such a memorable occasion. Looking forward to next time!!
So good to hear Robin! Glad you & your husband had a lovely evening. We'll see you soon!
The menu is not very clear, especially the dessert menu. The meat was too expensive for the quality provided, good but for the amount not excellent
Excellent dinner. Service was one of the best. Prepare for an expensive meal. Highly recommend.
We usually go to Bobby Flay's Bar Americain when in midtown, but we it closed so we tried Quality Meats. Very impressed! The vibe is very urban...good music, dimly lit, lots of exposed columns and beams. Very cool. The service was excellent. Decent wine list, with decent prices. Very good appetizers and steaks. We will go there again.
Thanks Mike for the compliments Mike! We do hope to see you soon!
Great ambiance. Dinner with my wife and kids. Outstanding food and service. “Bacon” was great!!!!
Great food and service. Surprised us with a Birthday desert as well
The peanut butter and jalapeños appetizer was amazing!
Thank you so much, Tara! The grilled bacon is definitely one of the most popular dishes & my personal favorite! We hope to see you soon!
Food was exceptional but service was ok. Waiter was rude. When giving us new utensils for next course didn’t bother setting it ok table for us. He just threw them at the center of table. Throughout the night we had to ask multiple times for water. He only came once to refill our water glass. Steak was very good and tasty but service is a turnoff.
Thank you for your feedback. You’re right, that doesn’t sound very appealing to me either. I’m so sorry that happened. If you would be willing to email me at joliver@qualitybranded, I would be happy to connect further and learn more about your experience. Thank you for your time and hope to be in touch soon. Joel K. Was recommended by folks at The Plaza, the ambiance was great but food so,so. The Bacon App was good, ribs were over cooked. Stick to the old school NYC steakhouse.

Dined at Quality Meats with my girlfriend. Ambiance and service was excellent. She ordered the veal chop medium and I ordered the aged sirloin rare. Her dish was excellent, but my steak was only average; a little tougher and dryer than one would expect. It was okay, just not great. This restaurant is on the pricey side, but not outrageous. I would be willing to give it one more try with a different main course.
Harvey, glad to hear you had a great time with us! Hope to see you back soon!
A bit of an extended wait for table with a reservation, but otherwise a great time. Food was good. Service was great. Price was in-line with others of that caliber. Would def suggest coming... just maybe expect a wait even with a rez on a Friday night!
Nice place, excellent steak. Don’t like how the meal listed for two doesn’t show the full price. It’s basically what you see, then double it. We didn’t order a dessert because we were full; it was my girlfriends birthday celebration. So, they brought us a strawberry sorbet, it was the worse thing I’ve ever tasted. Pretty but tasted horrible.
Thank you for your feedback, Cher. I am sorry that you didn't like the complimentary dessert, I will surely pass the comments to our pastry department.
Overall, okay. Got seated up stairs in the back, squeezed between two other couples. Steak was good, sides okay and over priced. Bread good. Must be better places in NY for the price.
I’m often in NYC for business and plan at least one dinner at Quality Meats each year. Never disappoints and love the pre-sliced steaks for sharing different kinds. Bourbon selection is improving!
Thanks for the great feedback and for noticing our new bourbon additions! Looking forward to hosting you again during your next trip to NYC.
This place fell off hard. Had to wait until 8:40 for a an 8 Pm reservation. The Fries, creme brulee corn and sides were generally bad. The steak was ok. For 500 bucks it should be incredible not just very good.
Thank you for your honest feedback, Noah, we will pass your comments to our culinary team.
Great multi-level space with absolutely delicious food and excellent service. Definitely recommended for those who enjoy a good steak and more
Thank you for your kind words, Armen. Glad you enjoyed your visit with us. See you soon!
Excellent food. Great service. Crowded with a lot of energy.
Thank you! J
Service excellent, so noisy it was virtually impossible to carry on a conversation between two people. Filet done to perfection but the steak lacked any real flavor. A dinner for two, with tip, cost $300- not real value for the dollars spent. I would neither return nor recommend this restaurant
Table right by the kitchen. Distracting and very loud.
At the beginning too noisy
Then after a few customers left it became pleasant
Wow!!!! Get the dry aged Porterhouse and the corn creme brûlée’!!!! Best meat in the city!!!!!!
Fantastic to hear, Jennifer! Thank you for your kind words and looking forward to having you over soon.
Sat in the bar—food was excellent and service was even better.
So glad to hear! Hope to see you soon! Joel K. Oliver Guest Relations Manager Quality Meats NYC
