Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Seattle
We feature an expansive menu ranging from artisan cheeses, starters, soups, salads, sandwiches and pizzas to pasta and seafood. We take a great deal of pride in utilizing the most fresh and local ingredients.
On the wine side of things our wine list features over 80 glass and 600 bottle selections. Over the years our wine program has been recognized with various accolades that include an "Award of Ultimate Distinction" from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and being named "Best Wine Bar" by Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington Viewers Poll.
Pizza was had over cooked crust and too much salt.
Awesome food, great waiter!
My waiter was very cordial and knowledgeable in response to my queries regarding both food and wine.
Perfect service and delicious food.
Accommodating staff, we were an hr early, they fit us in
We started with the beef tartare, i have had many before, this was by far one of the best i have ever had, we also had the baked brie, wine flights = a great way to try some different wines, the choose 3 charcuterie & cheese, the blue cheese was awesome, we finished up with the salted caramels & peanut butter mousse... the place was very busy but it was still quiet, the noise level was low compared to other places, the wine spiral staircase was amazing
Returned to Purple after a 3 year hiatus. I was last there for lunch at the bar and had the worst experience with a server who forgot to check in on my order and was mad at me after I asked where it was 30 minutes later. This time our server was exceptional and friendly but otherwise the rest of the visit fell flat. I had a box and luggage and asked where to put it to not get in the way. Once I went to pick it up, the box contents (wine) were missing and my carefully packed box was in disarray. The team was nonchalant about it at first. The hostess did step up and have some one find paper for me to re-wrap the package all over again. Super frustrated that even after asking how to make having a box in tow convenient for them they managed to screw it up. Time to finally take Purple off my business lunch list.
It’s not too bad a place. We went when it was very busy. It’s a very open space so the noise level was very loud. The food was average with a higher than reasonable price tag. The service was adequate, but nothing special. The main thing was the service fee added that really annoyed us. The check said that it was required by the State but we have eaten at quite a few restaurants in the area and this is the only place that added a service fee. I wouldn’t go again or recommend it at a place to go, not when there are so many better places to choose from.
We had a wonderful meal for our wedding anniversary. We shared a delicious bottle of wine that our waiter helped us choose. We enjoyed the ambiance, and the service was top notch. We will return.
I always enjoy Purple Cafe! It’s a favorite. The atmosphere is excellent, and service is always very personable and attentive. I’ve tried several menu items and haven’t ever been disappointed. Food is delicious! Great place for a business dinner or to take a date or out of town visitors.
It was good3r thin eye imajined. Beeoned mi yldist jreems.
Love this restaurant but tonight wasn’t great. The service was mediocre. Slow and I never did receive the dessert wine I ordered. I’ll give it one more try but since they went to mandatory tip the service has dropped.
The restaurant adds an additional 20% to your bill to cover their cost of provide retirement and health benefits to their servers. While providing employee benefits is wise, misleading your guests on the real price of the items on your menu should be against the law. Don’t support this restaurant or others will follow with the same misleading tactics. The price printed in your menu should be the price your charge your guests.
Service was excellent as was the atmosphere. Wine selection amazing and the food was very good. We loved the wine flights!
Food was less than par and service was the usual helpful but slow. Food took forever even though the restaurant was only half full.
This place was recommended by a friend so we decided to check out. I like to look up the photos of food on yelp to get a better idea of what people usually order. I must say a lot of the photos looked great but I think the menu must change seasonally, most of the items pictured were not on the menu. Any way the food was alright, and maybe a bit overpriced. The only thing my boyfriend and I really enjoyed was the Purple chopped salad. Our waiter was kind of rude too, but it could be that it was close to closing time.
Food is great. Service meh. Love coming here though. Try to eat here every trip.
Very attentive staff, very nice environment, and of course the food is excellent. Their secret is the wood fired grill.
The food was spectacular. We had several starters and all were excellent. We especially enjoyed the steak tartar. The dates stuffed with gorgonzola were excellent because they were warmed sightly. Our entrees were equally as good. We had pasta, salmon, but the short rib was outstanding. Our server wasn't the best and it was very loud in the restaurant. It made chatting with our party of 6 difficult at times. The setting and food made up for it.
Good atmosphere！The food and wine are very delicious！I will definitely visit again.
Food was good but overpriced. Waiter had a bit of attitude
The main reason we chose Purple, summarized in three words:
Purple Chopped Saladl
That is all.
Its overpriced and the food is just ok. Our server was inattentive. Don't go here with a candidate that you are interviewing and expect to be able to hear too much. The one high point was the not too sweet in house raspberry soda. It was quite tasty.
Disappointing. Booked well in advance for birthday celebration. Great table. One entree arrived but the second didn’t- it was given to another table. Entree arrival then took 20 minutes due to 2 large parties- why correcting their error was not prioritized is beyond me. Wait staff was very nice and the wine list is extensive but I will not be returning. Scratch this one off the list in Seattle.
First time eating here on a Sunday at 5pm. Not all stations were open. Was restricted to sit with children or areas that were unappealing. Server was not very friendly and food was just fair. Pricey for the experience. I've been 3 other times. Probably won't return for a while as there are many other options in the city to choose from. Plus they have an automatic 20% service fee. Have no choice how to reward server ...in my case would not have given him 20%.
The food and the service were fantastic. A little pricey but that is what you get for eating in downtown Seattle.
Fun dining for wine lovers
Overall the quality of the food did not match the price for the items. We ordered a Kale Cesar Salad that was mostly romaine lettuce with a few sprigs of kale leaf in it. The other two items that we ordered were fine, but not worth the price point at all. The wine list was large and impressive, but our waitress did not offer to go through it or offer any advice.
The place itself was impressive, with a large spiraling staircase of wine.
Our waitress was amazing and the food was delicious!! Thanks for an excellent experience!! We'll be back!
The ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic! The design is spectacular especially the Wine Spiral! The service was a bit slow for such a light afternoon.
The food tasted great. Timing was spaced out with the meat and cheese board, salads, and main entree. The wine selection is out of this world..plenty to choose from.
My parents were in town visiting from Wisconsin and we had planned a day at the Boeing tour and then at the wineries in Woodinville. Purple cafe has been on my radar for a long time and I was excited to try it out with both of my parents and my girlfriend. Unfortunately, about and hour before my reservation, I realized that I had errantly booked the Seattle downtown location and not the Woodinville location. I gave the Woodinville location a call, and explained my situation. Unfortunately, the restaurant was booked up, but Brittany was able to make some magic happen and gave us one of her reserved tables. Not only that, but when we arrived we were given complimentary champagne for the special occasion and Brittany greeted us herself. The meal was fantastic, the staff was great, and the wine was delicious. After dinner Brittany also gave each of us complimentary caramel chocolates. Everything was phenomenal and we can’t be more appreciative of how we were accommodated despite the mistake being on our end. We recommend this restaurant 100% and we will definitely be back.
Great food nice service. If you’re looking for a nice quiet evening dinner. Not your place other than that it was really great.
Over an hour to be served. Gave us free meal.
My favorite restaurant of all time, come here once a year when I visit my parents. If you love whine, cheese and meats boards, this is your place!
Great bar service. No beer on tap. I would recommend Purple for after work social events.
A bit loud but doable.
Delicious! Lots of options! Too many wines to choose from- but they have recommended pairings which were delicious!
Very nice dining experience— great vegetarian options.
Fantastic experience, great service!
A great place for wine lovers and people who enjoy great food!
