Great restaurant, food and staff were outstanding. If I lived in LA, I would be there all the time!!
The best pizza in DTLA!!
Overall it was good with high-quality food but the service was lacking as it took forever to get our check. The cocktails were really good and so was the edamame hummus!
Second time here. Perfect for a casual dinner night. Food is great and drinks are pretty good. Had the public school burger and chicken sandwich both very tasty. Margaritas are really good.
Great food, great drinks, great service!
Awesome Happy Hours menu!!!
Great experience post Covid-19! Felt good to be social except for the loud lady behind us
My friend and I ordered off the happy hour menu and both, food and cocktail, tasted great. The service was great as well.
Great post Covid first meal. Everyone was super attentive to us and they were all awesome. Oh ya the food was great too!
Angela was so sweet and made table for my group!
Although we were seated promptly and politely by the hostess within just a few minutes our reservation time, our waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed and yet disinterested in being there. It was extremely crowded and loud, but that was to be expected for a Friday during happy hour. The happy hour cocktails appeared to be pre-mixed (no modifications) and were very imbalanced and strong compared to the same drinks I had at other PS locations on other occasions. We ordered 5 of the share plates on the happy hour menu and they were brought surprisingly quickly but were also probably pre-prepared, as they were barely warm. The food was also strangely underseasoned, again as compared to my having the same items at other PS locations. I very much enjoy the Public School franchise and it's menu on the whole, but I doubt I will patronize the 213 location again.
a nice convenient venue for lunch amongst co-workers and clients.
A good experience and very good food, but our server was pretty condescending. My office is in the neighborhood so I'll be back --hope the server treats us as adults.
Went for brunch on Sunday and had a great time. Service was very good and our waitress was very friendly.
Great service and great food! Had a reservation and everything went just as perfect as can be. Would definitely return ! Thanks for everything
Great time. Highly recommend
Good place for a quick lunch. Sometimes this place can be loud making it difficult for business, but this time, it was quiet. Our waiter was terrific, prompted to the table, and our meals came out quickly. I had the fish & chips which are delicious, while my guest had the Ahi Bowl, which is her go too entree at the restaurant. We had no complaints on food or service.
Really surprised at this gem in DLA. Give it a try and go for happy hour the food and drink prices are fantastic for the value.
Good:blueberry french toast was great. Convenient location to rest of downtown. Our server was good.
Bad: chilaquiles (oddly the plate was hot, chips were cold and there was nothing on them other than sauce and a little scrambled eggs). Egg dish was bland. Hostess was unfriendly.
I've dined here multiple times before, this time, however, the service was very off-the-mark.
Recess menu was perfect! Absolutely love that they offer the recess menu everyday. Everything was great. We will be going back soon.
I went to this restaurant after a tour of the LA Library with 11 people. The staff had prepared for us and the table was set and laid out for us. The sservice continued to be attentive and good throughout. The food was quite excellent and delivered promptly. I have only good things to say. If you are going to the library, you should consider coming to PS213.
Cute concept. Loved the decor. Food was good. Went for Dine LA so used special menu. Loved the buffalo crispy cauliflower and bacon cheddar tater tots. Husband loved chicken salad, I had steak. Very tasty! The churros were my favorite part! Looking forward to going for regular menu. Reasonably priced for DTLA!
We wanted to try DineLA and went on MLK. But they told us that because it is a holiday, they don't do dineLA deals (which I don't understand.. other dineLA restaurants seemed to offer regardless.. but sure ok). We ended up ordering breakfast burrito, poutine, and cauliflower appetizer. The waiter was really nice but the food was terrible. The waiter told us to be careful because the skillet was hot. After he left, we ate the poutine fries and it was COLD. So we told the waiter and he apologized and told us he would get us a new one (which wasn't true .. they reheated it). When he brought it back out, IT WAS STILL COLD. We were upset at the workers in the kitchen and felt bad for the waiter. The wet breakfast burrito that we ordered, the red sauce was dried up on the surface .. why? because they left it out probably. The place wasn't even busy during MLK lunch. Five tables surrounding us were all empty but the food was just terrible. Sad that I chose this place from dineLA list and had a bad experience. I won't be coming back again.
Went for the NFL playoffs. Mimosas were good, food was great as well. Great place for big groups.
Previous reviews had listed noise level as low -- not on a Friday night! But other than that, Public School delivered on everything promised. Fun place, great service.
Really nice food.
Loud at lunchtime.
We were all very pleased with our meals and service.
The food is delicious, and the service was great! Leo was very attentive and friendly to our group. We were there for brunch and the choices pleased everyone in our group of 11. Can't wait to go back!
This place is right in the heart of DTLA down the street from the public library sits on the corner next to an apartment complex; there is valet available for place shares with tenants. People here are welcoming and kind. Did brunch for New Years Day no crowds almost empty @ 10a. Streets were pretty empty too. There 's a game room in back behind bar where we sat. Live sports viewing on tv around bar area; very large room. Enjoyed the blueberry brioche french toast and wet breakfast burritos. The menu is extensive lots to try and something for everyone. I hear this place is very crowded during the week lunchtime surrounded by office workers and end of business day people winding down from work. My son enjoyed lunch during his business meeting.
Visited for brunch. I have been here a few times in the past and always had a great experience.
This time: The Bloody Mary was excellent. The biscuits were pretty dry on the biscuits and gravy and the wet burrito lacked a bit of flavor. Both the Madame and Deans List were good. I love the being able to grab a game a play something fun with friends or on a date. I will go back and recommend it for a fun night out.
Love that they offer Valet parking for $7. Surrounding parking options are $13+. Only caveat is that there is only 1 valet attendant. Be prepared for a 5-10min wait to have your car parked. Also, you only get 2hrs.
The restaurant was energetic, but too loud for my taste. The had a table game, which looked fun. However, it was occupied the entire time, and we couldn’t wait due to our 2hr time limit.
Overall, I liked it. It was my 1st time there. I wouldn’t mind visiting again.
Xmas gathering
This place is great! not too loud and food is amazing!
Horrible service. The restaurant was not busy at all; however, it took at least 10 minutes before anyone came to our table to take our drink orders. Service from that point on was below average at best. Food was ok but the lack of attentive service far outweighed the overall experience.
Such a great spot! Definitely coming back service was on point. Just know portions are a bit small but manageable so don't share with your classmate!
We both had the fish & chips, which are very good and meaty and would recommend.
The people who were here are VERY nice but stretched way too thin. Never saw our waiter. Had to wave him down from afar or have staff members who walk by to get him. He couldn't be friendlier but it wasn't an ideal experience and thank goodness we weren't in a rush to get anywhere.
And the food was way overpriced for what you get. It's average bar food. My salad was overdressed and salmon was overcooked to practically jerky-level dryness.
Two glasses of wine, an iced tea, a chicken wings appetizer, and two salads = $90 after tax and tip with me not tipping the usual because of the neglectful service. Waaay too much to spend for this given all the other options in DTLA.
Easy going pub and kid friendly!
Where do I start? We had a reservation and upon arrival it took us well over 5 mins to even be greeted. It was easily over another 10 mins before our server, who had walked by multiple times, came to get our drink order. The drinks then took forever and we could see our food sitting at the expo line getting cold before we even had our drinks. The food arrived like warm, the ranch was runny and almost like water and we couldn’t wait to leave. Then, to expedite leaving we just gave our server our cards to split the bill and she overcharged us.
We are all pretty patient and understanding people but the lack of effort and complete lack of any management was terrible. I rarely write reviews but this one had to be done.
