Dont miss an opportunity to experience this flavor experience
Absolutely one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Adam was the consummate host, advising us and informing us the entire meal. We definitely recommend Proxi and plan to visit again soon.
Food was not great. Too many dishes relied exclusively upon a pepper or a single flavorful herb to compensate for the fact that they were ultimately bland. The wine list was good. I am honestly baffled, however, why Proxi appears on the Eater 38 for Chicago right now.
Pretty good! Great space. Service very attentive. I’d go again.
Great atmosphere, service. As usual creative menu with great flavor combinations.
Admittedly, I was apprehensive given some of the polarizing reviews out there, but it did not disappoint. Great drinks to start off the meal (highly recommend the Bruja in the City and the Spill the Tea cocktails). Everything we ate was delicious and our server coursed things out well and added a couple of great suggestions to round out our choices. Star dishes of the night were the Tempura Elotes, Mung Bean Dumplings, Swordfish, Stone Bass (add some sticky rice to sop up the yellow curry), Thai Sausage, and Wagyu Short Rib Kalbi (we got a second order as our dessert).
Amazing food, some dishes bit small on size but really really good food, decor and service.
Our date night experience was very nice and it was a different fine dining experience than we were expecting. Different in a good way, like unique. Small plates that come out on an ongoing basis. They strive to come off as casual but it seems like it’s not casual - I would describe it as fancy elevated international street food. Very fun. Our server seemed a little too casual, leaning on a nearby patrons chair while describing the dishes, seemed to make the other person uncomfortable. Drinks took a long long time. However food was quick and delicious. I think it’s definitely worth a try! It’s pricy but not as pricy as some other fine dining in Chicago, about $150 for two people to have a meal and two drinks each.
Great food and delicious cocktails! Very noisy, but we could still hear each other at a cozy table.
The food was excellent. The cocktails were excellent. The server spoke quietly- we could barely hear what he said.
Excellent food. Great drinks. The smoked pumpkin is incredible. Will be back.
Wonderful! Great atmosphere, helpful service, and delicious food! The whitefish pomelo salad and kalbi short-rib were the stand-out dishes and the scallops were a closer second. Drinks are creative, generously sized, and tasted great. Dessert didn't live up to the high standard of the good but were good nevertheless. Highly recommended!
Really enjoyed some of our choices but would replace others with different options. Looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu.
Proxi is always so good! The octopus and Vietnamese crepe stood out this time.
Always consistently amazing food and attentive top notch service. Usually grab a high top in the bar as we walk in with no res, today were able to get a table.
Great experience! Our server, Samantha, was knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly! Every dish was well-timed ( we ordered a variety of ten), unusual and delicious...we especially loved the duck. Elotes were also a fave. Such a fun place to be, laid back and comfy. Looking forward to our next reservation!
Food and service was awesome! I do think they can make it a little dimmer and have candlelight to create a better ambience. Overall great experience.
Creative brunch fare, I loved the flavorful sauces and fresh veggies, cocktails were quite good as well. Services needs some focus, waited about 15 minutes to meet our waiter after the waiter assistant got us water and drinks.
The dining experience at Proxi is such a treat. The food is so different from anywhere else I go. Also, the service is impeccable. I also love the cool decor. Cannot wait to go back.
Server was very knowledgeable and helpful with menu and wine list. Wine list was not the best and wine prices were too high. Food was outstanding!
We brought a large party of out of town family who are foodies.
Small plates, perfect for sharing. We were able to 'create' a meal that leaned on Asian influences and flavors, but expanded into other delicious cultures. Service was attentive and warm. Special thanks to Chef Andrew for an unexpected and thoughtful gesture!
Love Proxi! Will be back!
This was one of the best meals we have eaten in the last five years. Every serving was wonderfully flavored. The courses were fun to share and we'll paced by the server. A truly exceptional experience.
Sat at the counter with a friend and ordered 6 items per the waiter recommendation and it was the right about of food for 2 people. Everything was very good and coursed nicely. The seafood was a highlight, steak was good and so were the starters.
Prices were pretty reasonable given location and quality of food.
Great gin drinks too!
The food here is amazing and the service was excellent. We came to celebrate a friend's marriage but this is not just a special occasion place.
Outstanding service! Very noisy restaurant, but cool vibe. We shared 7 small plates and a dessert - all but two of them were definite repeats!! Really creative and delicious food!
Great ambiance, service and food. Server made great recommendations and offered up some off menu specials that were delicious. Lots of options. Will be back. Tables are spaced well and well sized. Music is good and not too loud for conversation.
Delicious foods in unusual- but fabulous- combinations. Great service. Staff was able to accommodate a change in reservation time when afternoon plans finished early.
Way too salty. Every single thing we ordered...salt bomb.
Everything was fantastic. The way they stagger your order so you have a chance to enjoy each plate is great. The music playing louder than most restaurants makes for a fun atmosphere. My favorite was the smoked pumpkin hummus
Outstanding venue with exceptional cuisine. Owned by the same proprietors of the Michelin started Sepia.
food was really good, dessert was vanilla flan and it was exceptional
It's not too often that I can say every dish I tried I was impressed, but for Proxi I could say this emphatically. Had the pumpkin puree appetizer and the mussels too (you can't beat $16 for a big bowl of grilled mussels and levan bread). Also had the duck leg with hint of curry that was very flavorful and the waygu short ribs that were sliced thinly and very tender and not chewy. The strawberry tres leches was probably my least favorite of the dishes, but that's just because I'm not into sweet foods that much.
Devin was unbelievably amazing. I didn’t even order after our first appetizer dish. He helped us decide that and we just let him take the wheel for the rest of the 6 dishes we ordered. The food was unreal and I can’t wait to come back! Definitely go and if you do, ask for Devin. He’s amazing!!!!!!!!!!
Great bar and bartender. Wonderful menu for sharing amongst a party of 6. Thanks and well done!
This is my fifth time at Proxi. It has not disappointed even once and I could eat there several more times before I tire of it. Delicious every time.
Delicious, creative, satisfying....
We went for my birthday and were thrilled with the cuisine, specialty cocktails and friendly knowledgeable service. Highly recommend!
