Best meal I ever had!!!! Chef’s tasting menu is a must!!! Every dish was deliciously perfect. It would have been incomplete had I missed out on any of them. The seafood chowder was my fave and all of the desserts were amazing!

The evening was perfect from start to finish. The service was fantastic (everyone was a few steps ahead of us in the best way), the food and wines were amazing. One of the best meals we’ve ever had. Thank you!

Went with my husband on a Thursday and we had a lovely time, each entree that was brought out was impressive, well thought out and deliciously presented. We appreciated the flexibility in swapping out some of the items from the pre-fix menu as this is rare for this type of dining experience. Our only disappointment was not being offered coffee or tea with our dessert. Before we new it our dessert was brought out and by that time it was too late to ask. Our server did offer it to the table next to us before their desserts were brought out which is customary, but for some reason ours was overlooked. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the meal and did not go home hungry.

We enjoyed our dinner. I think some of the dishes were slightly under seasoned / needed a grain or two of salt. I could just be nitpicking but for how much dinner cost, I think I’m allowed to nitpick. Uni egg, black cod & the dessert appropriately named “ban this dessert” were the highlights!!
The wines were yummy but there were a couple, I felt at least, that didn’t really pair with the food. Overall, the pairings were great. Cocktails were delicious and extremely balanced.
The service was decent/good. I couldn’t hear what a few of the servers/captains(?) were saying when they described a few of the dishes. They spoke so softly.

Sublime appetizers and great bread
Some of the main fish was saltier than my liking. Superb service. Very laidback ambience but elegant and simple. Loved it.

Outstanding on every conceivable level - fine dining at its absolute best. From the 4 gorgeous and delectable amuse bouches to the last exquisite chocolate truffle, this experience turned the tables on every Los Angeles dining cliche and critique on the books. It's as if Michael Cimarusti transported the ingredients, technique, and staff from top level global dining cities like New York, Paris, and Hong Kong, and assembled them all in one fabulous place. It's hard to fathom that a restaurant this great can exist in a city surrounded by so much dining mediocrity. In spite of the central focus on seafood (executed perfectly with each exciting course), they also blew me away with the Liberty Farms duck (with ramp and sour cherry sauce). I knew I was taking a risk by climbing out of the sea onto land, and they really knocked my flippers off - possibly the best duck I've ever had. Anyone seeking a special occasion stunner in Los Angeles - Providence is it!

Providence is a unique dining experience; wonderful, friendly service; beautifully crafted food, every detail well-attended. It is quite expensive, but the small army of chefs, waiters, clearers, etc who make it all possible need to be paid. Our last visit was somewhat marred by a supercilious sommelier, who was not in evidence this time; a clear plus.
My only minor issues: the music was too aggressive and a bit too loud, not consistent with the fine dining experience they otherwise deliver. The wine pairing choices were mostly quite good, but none were outstanding and one or two were off-target; next time I would ask for the pairing list in advance and be prepared to order by the bottle.

It’s super difficult for me to write this review. I really wanted to live this experience but it was just not good. The best part of the dinner were the amuse bouche and the wines in the wine pairings. The courses themselves were uninspired and not particularly delicious. The butter for the sourdough bread was terrible. The gentleman in the suit who sat us and sort of explained the menu was gruff and seemed uninterested in giving us any explanation of the menu or wine list. He seemed as though we were bothering him by being seated at all. When one of our guests asked what her particular menu included he told her to wait, then he went to an empty table, picked up the checkbook and looked inside to see what the tip was from that table. Then he returned and didn’t even answer her question. When someone has a food allergy and called ahead to make sure it could be accommodated, the server should have a good command of what the special menu includes. I can also say that the restroom was absolutely disgusting. The urinal had hair all over it, towels were strewn all over the place and the sink was covered in soap and was a mess. The cocktails at the start of the meal were not particularly good either. This was such a disappointing meal and I’m not quite sure it was selected as a two star Michelin restaurant.

Everything was as expected. Unfortunately it seems that none of my comments that I listed on my reservation were sent to the restaurant. I already listed the occasion, what menu we wanted, and dietary restrictions, but I still had to hash through it at the beginning of the meal.

Providence is expensive but it is a wonderful experience for a special occasion.

My only complaint is that the main courses pale next to all of the appetizers.

We are repeat customers over many years and are delighted to witness Cimarusti's evolution as a chef. Many of the dishes this time were new, surprising, and utterly delicious!!! The service is always exemplary. The noise level is such that you can actually talk with and hear your dining companion. A wonderful evening!

Visited in 2016 and decided that it was a restaurant worth returning to when I visited LA again in 2019. Excellent service with nice personal touch (it was for a friend's belated birthday - a card at the table and a cake with candle at the end of the meal). Food was outstanding - the "uni egg" is to die for.

Despite the Michelin discussion (which is a controversial rating system), I understand why this restaurant got two stars.

On the other hand, from my experience, the star rating is not fully absolute but meant to be relative to what you would “usually” expect from a restaurant in that region.

Service, presentation, ingredients, atmosphere - everything was subtle but focused.

Knowledgeable service personal that actually ate each course to guide you through the evening.

Local collaborations with other food related projects - which I am pleased to see. Not everything needs to be imported but can be sourced locally.

They have a balanced approach between creative and conservative courses. Nothing too fancy to embarrass you because you can’t eat it properly, nor frightening you because of certain polarizing ingredients or tastes.

You should definitely not be in a hurry - since you want to immerse into the meal. I personally like it not being rushed and they adapted to my personal dining tempo.

The whole dining experience took about 2.5 hours for the “smallest” tasting menu configuration together with the wine pairing. Bring probably 3-4h if you are going for the chef’s menu.

And expect a little surprise at the end of your dining experience - a very nice gesture to remember the evening the next day.

I will definitely come back to experience the chef’s menu one day. — at Providence.
