We booked for Saturday night dinner as we had previously had a reasonable lunch sitting outside on a sunny autumn day. My three companions ordered the fish and chips which were highly praised for the delicious lightness of the batter. My original choice of pan seared salmon was suddenly withdrawn from the menu so settled for the gnocchi with broad beans. This was rather disappointing and tasteless and could even be called 'gluggy'. As the fairly ordinary gnocchi was sitting atop a broad bean puree, the texture of which just didn't suit the dish. It is indeed disappointing to go out and pay for food which could be better prepared at home.

Pretty low key place, however the food was good. Our table was unfortunately near the door to where the smokers go outside, so it was freezing and blowy a lot which was a little frustrating.

The food was shocking and drinks were over priced. The only good thing was the view and it's a shame have been many times before and love it . Needs to improve before I every go back!!

Everything great aside from the slight over over charge of drinks... my Mum didn't speak up at the time as she thought that it was just very expensive. She didn't receive a receipt so didn't bother with bringing it up.

Great location. Fabulous views. Menu a bit limited, but steaks were nicely done and salads were lovely. The queue to order food was way to long.

I have dined at the Portsea hotel on several occasions over the years and the last few times have been somewhat disappointing. The menu has become a lot smaller than usual and the quality of food has not been up to scratch. I'm not sure the chef has changed but feel the food is not as fresh as it used to be and the serves has become a little smaller than I remember.
