Authenticity is the order of the day with the best meats in town prepared front and centre for all to see on a traditional Parilla (barbecue) and Asado (pit of fire). Both are expertly tended to by Porteño’s very own Goucho, Adan Abrahanowicz (yep, that’s Elvis’ dad) who has been barbecuing in this uniquely Argentinean style since he was old enough to play with fire... and he was an early starter! Just as well considering the slow cooked pig and lamb spend 8 hours splayed out over an ironwood bark fire before they hit your table.

It felt like a little bit of a step back from previous Porteno dining outings. I am reluctant to be to critical as we have just come out of lock down and previously I have a great time at Poteno. We went to celebrate a major milestone and while very good, it wasn't superb. Its a one hat (not two) experience. Having said that, the Blood Sausage and Wine was delicious, moreish in fact. Great suggestions from the sommelier. So lets hope this is just a one off and that as we come back from lock down we all pickup and go back to being superb.

We loved the cheese, chorizo and lamb cutlets. Wasn't keen on the calamari and the fish was overcooked. Desert was average but coffees and staff/service was 10/10.

Absolutely awesome way to celebrate our Engagement. Every member of staff was incredible, knowledgeable and extremely welcoming.

The food was fabulous, well seasoned and packed with flavor.

The icing on the experience was a complementary glass of bubbles to acknowledge our occasion, a really nice touch

Had a nice birthday meal here, the menu was not authentic Argentinian as disputed by my Argentinian boyfriend, as the waiter explained it was a fusion menu. Really tasty steak and faina. Would recommend. Would like to see an Argentinian beer on the menu. We shared an entree and main and it was more that enough. Thanks!

The starter are good and impressive especially the tartare.

However, the main are disappointed as the beef and the potato are cold. Also, the beef is a bit tasteless which is quite disappointed given that it is their signature dish.

The lamb is alright and the chicken is quite impressive especially the sauce.

Dessert is normal.

Service was good and the waiters were nice and friendly. However, they dropped the plates while cleaning up the table for us. Plates were broken and it’s understandable to clean up the mess ASAP. However, It would be great to check on the customers to check they are okay too.

Fantastic food and professional staff, would highly recommend.
We had the ocean trout tartare and chorizo for entree - amazing.
Mains we had the fish over the charcoal and skirt steak - both amazing flavors and 5 star food.
Wine - Malbec of course, smooth, jammy, not too light / not too heavy.
The staff are dedicated and professional of the highest order
Cant wait to go back!

Meat was a bit bitter and sidedish as well burn smell was the way too strong to taste other taste after i felt burn smell and taste the smell made me hard to taste the dishes

Overall it was a pleasant meal, but the music was way too loud. Our table had to shout at each other to be heard. And whilst it seemed like there was a lot of staff working we found the service to be incredibly slow. If the meals are sharing style I do feel that all entrees should be served at the same time and all mains should be served at the same time but there was long gaps in between each dish arriving at the table.
Overall all the flavours were great and the wine was also amazing but could do with a few improvements.
I also found it really uncomfortable that the 2 owners were just standing at the front counter with their arms crossed over, staring out into the restaurant all evening as they were very close to our table, and when we had to flag down a waiter for drinks service they didn't react at all. I can understand the owners wanting to oversee the service as restaurants reopen with lockdown restrictions easing but it just came across as strange.
Not a bad meal but not sure if I will return.

I am usually a big fan of Porteno. Their steak has always been exceptional.
However Friday night, the steak was just not as expected. The waiter was rude and almost didn’t have the patience for any questions.
Very disappointing night. I hope it was just a one off as they have always been my #1 steak in Sydney.

The food has been better, we had a great night overall but feel that quality has gone down a bit and prices increased. We paid around $850 for 6 people including 2 bottles of expensive Argentinian wine ($110 per bottle).

On a business trip from Perth with our husbands . We have been to the restaurant a few years ago and wanted to go again with some other friends . This restaurant did not disappoint , if not better than the last visit.

Focaccia bread is worth the trip! Love shared plate restaurants and Porteno with its lazy susan to make sharing even easier is great. We shared the lamb, wagyu beef and beef special along with the sides that included great cabbage salad. The wagyu beef was delicious!

There are times when the fable provides enough intrigue to allow for the excursion, but leaves the burst of colour until the rendition is actualised. My word what a brilliant, joy filled experience is Porteno. Professional service with a modern outlook, food perfectly cared for and presented as its own star. The construction of the evening was generous and seamless allowing for eye ball interaction with the real reason for attending, spending time with my sweetheart, the love of my life.

We had a dinner at Porteño for my boyfriend’s birthday. Staffs are very friendly and accommodating. Food is lovely. This is my favourite place for a steak night.
