My waitress was an Italian woman, with a a tattoo on the back of her neck. She was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. The main reason I liked it so much was because of her. Phenomenal work.
We love Popolo. It is in a great spot, the staff are lovely and the food is always magnificent.
Amazing Italian food, great service and a perfect view!
Service is not great as it is focused on getting you in and out for the next round.
Small meals, and not great value in my opinion.
Fabulous food; attentive, knowledgeable staff; amazing views of the river/city. The small tasting plates were delicious, our waitress ensured our selection of dishes were served as courses so that we could enjoy each meal without being rushed. Thanks for the great service - we will be back.
Great service - just right in fact! Fast without hovering. Excellent and tasty food - good little selection of locally brewed beers.
Service was fantastic and staff went out of their way to ensure mum was spoilt during birthday celebrations.
What can I say, the food is delicious, the service is excellent, never a bad experience when dining here. Thank you Popolo!
Amazing!!! I have been a few times however my 4 other friends went for the first time here & they enjoyed the food, the atmosphere & the staff were so lovely! Will be back!!!
Absolutely fantastic. I have coeliac disease so being able to eat and share exquisite delicious gluten free meals in such a wonderful setting by friendly patient informed staff was simply brilliant. Highly recommend. Many thanks.
This venue never disappoints! No more words required.
Excellent service and quality food! Great buzz to the restaurant! Definitely go back again!
Booking was easy. We arrived on time table was ready. The staff were very helpful. We had 2small share plates and 3large share plates. All the food was very tasty. The view was great. And we all had a fantastic time
Our table overlooked the river (what we requested!) - great service from Sara and her servers, and the food was excellent. We'll come back.
Pre-6pm booking meant our food arrived quite fast. Food was well cooked and seasoned, and presented nicely.
Polpette tasty, nothing incredibly unique about them, but great for those meat-lovers.
Stuffed zucchini flowers had a good amount of filling, and a light, crispy batter. Sadly our request for the Ragu alla Bolognese could not be fulfilled, so we settled for a Pancetta Pizza.
Good choice for those cheesy pizza lovers. Two types of cheese oozing and stringy, nicely cooked (tomato) napoli sauce and a beautifully cooked pizza base.
(On a side note, the pricing of pizzas seemed a bit expensive! )
Also tried their Porchetta, which was beautifully cooked with crispy crackling and melt-in-your-mouth meat, accompanied by the stone fruit compote wish added a nice sweetness to the dish.
Finished with the Pannacotta, which wasn't anything too outstanding, although presented beautifully. The honeycomb was literally honey and a tiny bite of the natural honeycomb, personally not appealing. The fruit compote was a nice, unexpected touch. "Quince" in the form of puree was nicely sweetened. The Pannacotta also nice, but nothing great. Tasted milky, not creamy like expected from a Pannacotta.
Overall the service was friendly and informative. Our waiter was courteous, helpful, but not overbearing.
Except literally told at 8.14pm that we must vacate our table for the next booking at 8.15pm. Working in the industry myself
I can understand the need for table, but would be better if given more notice, perhaps at the beginning when first seated, a polite advance notice and we would have been more than obliged to ensure we didn't linger too long.
Great service and great food. Try the Pinot Noir if you’re a red fan.
There are a number of good Italian places in Brisbane but Popolo, with its great food, excellent staff (many of whom are Italian), and amazing location for people watching on the Brisbane River, is in my Top Three. I love the place for lazy (and long) Sunday lunch
Lovely views of Bris across the river and beautiful food.
The atmosphere was great. Right on the river and on Monday before Christmas, fireworks were launched right in front of the restaurant. The food was good, I think everything could have been a little more seasoned however. A little salt would have helped tremendously.
Amazing as always food and service always perfect tku
Enjoyed the atmosphere, but noisy but can’t be helped. Excellent table outside excellent with the fireworks. Good excellent, service terrific and would recommend to everyone.
Popolo is one of my favourites in Brisbane. I love the food and location and the wait staff are always amazing.
Great night celebrating a friends birthday, The staff were very helpful and explained the menu well. We waited a while to be seen once seated and our drinks order take and The food came out at different times which was a bit odd as we mentioned that we were not sharing and the server said this would be okay.
The food however was delicious (mushroom gnocci, ragu and risotto) and the desserts were lovely as well.
The food inclusive of mains we were served were unbearably sweet. The server was demanding and the noise was so loud we couldn’t have a continuous conversation, that was from the crowd in the restaurant, not inclusive of general Southbank noise. Only thing nice to say about it was it’s timeliness of food arriving was well organised.
Lovely. Excellent and friendly service. Timely and delicious meals. Great spot.
Love the food , fantastic location , great night out
First time at Popolo & we are definitely coming back. Great service, amazing food & GORGEOUS views. We definitely will be coming in for the picnic option next time. Don’t ever change. Xox
Brilliant evening, staff friendly and nothing too difficult. Menu interesting varied & delicious
Outstanding food, great service, and a perfect location
We chose to have lunch with 10 family and friends following our son’s uni graduation ceremony at qpac and it was a perfect decision. The food, view, staff and setting was absolutely perfect. Cannot fault the restaurant in any way.
Beautiful food and wine however the large plates to share were a little small
Tables are a little small for shared menu style eating
Staff were really friendly
Would definitely return
Yummy food and 5 star service. It was a hot day some fans on the veranda ceilings would of been nice.
Service was great, welcoming, and felt vrr personal.
Disappointing on a hot Qld summer night when you are served a soft drink which has not been refrigerated. Very poor form. No amount of ice is a glass works to make hot soft drink, cold!
The food at Popolo is always of a high standard, but on a busy Saturday night we were let down by service, being placed out to the far side, we felt a bit forgotten. Wine list quite limited, feel this place is now catering more for the tourists, there are plenty of better Italian places in Brisbane for that authentic experience.
Popolo has a great atmosphere, food is delicious, staff are very friendly, service is good.
The ambiance is wonderful at Popolo, so lovely sitting by the river under the beautiful frangipanis. It is a little pricey for what you get but you have the expect that given the location. The staff are lovely and super friendly. Most of the time the food is great however on our recent visit, the menu had changed and the options were a little more limited. Last time I had the seafood squid ink linguine and it was incredible, so flavoursome and lots of seafood, everyone else had food envy. This time the only option was the Pipi Linguine and it was a huge disappointment, not very flavoursome and very simple, there is hardly any meat in pipi's so it was basically just pasta and for $32, you'd expect more than that. The others who ordered it also thought the same. Hopefully you can change that dish over for the squid ink pasta again.
Lovely service , we were very well looked after by all. The food also impeccable.
Great service and wonderful food. The view was amazing too. Would definitely recommend and go back.
Lovely lunch by the water. Great vibe. Will be back.
