What a great little place. Food and service are EXCELLENT! We will definitely be back.
The food we had for Brunch was extraordinarily good! Service was excellent. We wanted to eat outside, which we did, then it began to softly rain. We were asked how we were doing, and decided to stay outside, under the umbrella. Hostess and our Wait-staff were all very accommodating and helpful This was our first time in this restaurant, and hope to return.
Though a somewhat reduced menu at this time, the choices were still fantastic and prepared and served with high standards. Wonderful place to have a quiet, relaxing dinner with friends and still be able to talk and hear your conversation!
Food was amazing, service wasnt great, but the waitress was alone pretty much and apologized for that. We had a reservation and had to wait standing outside of the restaurant for 10 minutes past reservation time when tables were empty, and lighting could be a bit dimmer, but overall amazing ambiance, cool decorations, great food!
Food as always is delicious and nicely presented. Creative cocktails were also a hit. Indoor seating was observant of safe practices against COVID Great place anytime of year !
We had a bonus warm November day and wanted to eat outside. Pond House was our choice of course! Food was delicious as always.
The Outdoor Dining was set up very nicely
Food and service were very good
Views outside very nice
We had an amazing waitress, Joleen was her name! We were seated in the new little screened in “house” and loved it! My friend had just lost her father so we were getting together to share the loss. We both ordered the Lobster Cobb Salad . The presentation was amazing and the taste scrumptious. There was an abundance of lobster, very fresh greens and a delicious garlic cream dressing. Joleen suggested the Ricotta chocolate pudding for dessert. What an ending to our lunch! The pudding was not sweet, it was topped with dried cherries, almonds, expresso powder and whipped cream. Really delicious. I have never had a poor meal at the Pond House!!
Food service is often slow but the staff and atmosphere make up for it every time.
Had to wait for 30 minutes foe our table with a reservation for lunch. Did not start off well. Then the landscapers not wearing masks and were smoking right around the diners They were using leaf blowers at the height of lunchtime. It was unacceptable. I really did not feel comfortable with the lack of respect and safety of the diners. The service and food were great but I won’t be returning.
As always the food was fabulous tasting, and as always it looked like it came off of a magazine cover. The creativity of everything about the Pond House Cafe makes it one of a kind restaurant.
Excellent food. We ate outside as Requested. It was a chilly day. Next time will go inside. The seating inside was within guidelines of 6 feet and was not overcrowded.
Another great meal at the Pond House. Michael provides the highest level of service and the food was amazing again. Great setting as well. We will be back again soon.
Our waitress, Jolene, was wonderful. The ambience was great, but the food was just ok.
We just moved to Conneticut and we’re excited to try the Pond cafe, especially since it’s walking distance. The food was excellent. We shared a Pond House salad and pond house eggs Benedict. 2 poached eggs on top of crab cake, cornbread and roasted potatoes. Delish. We also shared the carrot cake. Which was a square piece, dense, moist cake, very good. I did not like the cream topping, wayyyyy to sweet but the blackberry jam topping was very good. I had the Hot ginger tea. I really liked it, but had to order more hot water cause it too was very sweet. We sat on the porch, good social distancing and it felt like we were outside. I highly recommend. The service was good and the food excellent!
My friend and I both were ill immediately after eating there. We were seated next to an open door during rainstorm. No heaters. Water coming through door.
Very sorry to hear that. Do you think you became ill form the weather or the food? We do let guests know we do not have heaters and if they choose to sit on the open air porch or patio due to their Covid concerns we will be happy to serve them there. Please let me know what you both had to eat so I can research. Once again very sorry for your unpleasant experience.
Amazing food for great prices! Got the pesto filled burrata salad and a mimosa, it was a perfect brunch.
Delicious food, helpful server, lovely outdoor seating.
The grounds are whimsical and stunning. Flowers EVERYWHERE!! The staff were very attentive and friendly. Food wears delish! I will defiantly go back when in the area again!
We (3 generations of females) had not been back to the Pond House since it had a makeover. It was lovely, comfortable, bright and relaxing. Our server was extremely helpful and informative and paid attention without being intrusive. Felt safe with the masks and social distancing and high ceilings. Food was very tasty and well-prepared - and just the right amount. Not sparse and not too much so there was little to no waste. We'll be back.
The food was very tasty and filling. Our server, Jolene was excellent and attentive to our needs. We had outdoor dining and the ambience was very nice. The only negative thing I would say was the slow food serving. We had to wait somewhat longer for our food. Anyway, happy customer here as the delicious food made up for it.
We were able to get outdoor seating as requested and did not have to wait long for table
Always love eating here! Great food with quick service and beautiful setting.
It was amazing ambiance . The waitress was terrific but at the end we had to wait a bit since she got busy ,. It would have been no big deal in regular times but we were outside and we were getting cold . Will they be having outside heaters ? Love the food and so great to be at the beautiful park !
We reserved a table online and indicated we wanted to sit outside. Upon arriving the hostess directed us to table inside and when we asked about an outside table she immediately dismissed us and said we didn’t reserve a table outside and she wouldn’t check our reservation or seat us outside despite there being 5 or 6 open tables outside. We left before being helped by wait staff because we did not feel comfortable eating inside. Extremely disappointed by the hostesses attitude, dismissiveness and rudeness. Will hopefully try again and hope to have a better experience, but extremely saddened by this terrible first impression.
I am truly sorry your experience was so unpleasant. It has been very hard juggling the request for the outside dining and how to help guests make that request in their reservation. I do hope you will try and visit us again. Thank you, Kim
Never a bad meal! Never disappointed!! Recommend to all our friends!
Years ago I often went to the Pond House and always loved it. Not sure why- maybe COVID, but this time it was very disappointing. Food on the ground made me wonder how clean the tables were. After we ordered it took over 20 minutes just to get drinks. I had an amazing omelette but the corn bread was dry and the potatoes were nothing special - just cubed french fries with no seasoning. My wife’s eggs benedict was undercooked and served in a bowl? The iced coffee had no flavor. The waitress was very accommodating for my food allergy and nice in a fake sort of way. However, after my wife never took a bite of her meal i still got charged for it. Atmosphere was beautiful, but i won’t be back. There are too many other good breakfast places that are cheaper. I guess if i am paying $15 a plate, i expect more.
Thank you for your comments. I wish you had enjoyed your visit more, we at looking at all comments you made and reviewing. Once again thank you for your input. Kim
Beautiful setting and well orchestrated to manage covid risk - much appreciated!
Our server was great - food was overall great a with one "miss" the veggie wrap was missing the avocado mousse and very very dry. Others were very well received - burrato pesto salad - added brussels really good! and crabcake benedict - great. Desserts - creme brulee and beet ginger ice cream hit the spot.
Prepared food was creative, delicious, beautifully presented, and plentiful.
Wonderful every time! The food is delicious and the service is great!
Pure delight. Where else can you enjoy a relaxing meal amongst beautiful gardens, ponds and trails? I took my wife here for lunch on her birthday and it was memorable. The gazebo gave us shade on a perfect fall day. My lamb and her salmon were outstanding and the wine list was limited but very nice. Roses were still blooming in the magnificent gardens. Plan to spend an afternoon here to unwind and say good bye to stress! And by all means do not rush. Savor the moment and don't forget to stop and smell the roses.
We appreciate your kind words!
The food service was very quick and delicious. The waitress attitude could have been a little better but besides that everything else was great.
Excellent as usual. Never disappointed in food or service. Recommend to friends always.
I love to dine at the Pond House. It is a beautiful setting and the food is interesting. Our server was very pleasant. However, I made a reservation and tried to enter my preference for outside seating, but it was not clear to me how to accomplish that. My party arrived at or before our reservation time and there were two lovely tables available near the pond. The hostess lead us to one of the partially indoor tables and when I asked about the open tables and stated my preference to sit there, she said she had 2 reservations that had requested outside seating and she had to hold them for them. I believe one of those parties was waiting in the hall but the other was not present. It clearly states on the website that seating is on a first come basis, yet she refused us the outdoor seating. This really detracted from my usual pleasant experience. The procedures that are stated on your website should be followed or you will lose your credibility. The unfairness of our treatment spoiled what could have been a perfect meal. You state that you cannot guarantee reservations for outdoor seating but that is exactly what you did in this case.
It was my 2nd time eating out since Feb and I was very comfortable with my surroundings and service. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! I would definitely recommend it to everyone!
We appreciate those comments, we try very hard to make sure everyone feels that we are following safe operations.
Brunch at Pond House was fantastic, a much needed escape from the craziness of these unprecedented times during the pandemic. All the safety guidelines such as masks, sanitizing, distancing were followed and we felt very safe and well taken care of. The host noticed us taking photos/videos of the mural in the entrance and explained about all of the faces of employees painted into the mural, and pointed out to us a few others such as a dog's face painted into one of the roses. It was an interesting story and just very welcoming of her to take the time to explain it to us.
We sat outside, but in the covered/screened in gazebo. It was like we had our own private outdoor room for brunch which was very nice. Tiffany was our server, and she provided superb service. We both ordered BLT omelets and breakfast cocktails, coffee, and enjoyed each other's company along with the beautiful sights and sounds of Elizabeth Park, including the birds, ducks, and the soothing fountain in the pond. My brunch partner was visiting from NYC and he was supremely impressed with the beauty and nature of the park and the service and food at Pond House. Next time he is back visiting, we are definitely coming in for the mexican mac and cheese! Thanks for a wonderful experience.
Thank you!! Kim
The food was delicious and portions large! Everyone working there could not have been any nicer. The location and decor is so unique. My husband and I are going back again soon!
Spectacular food, great service. A real treasure for the area. Will be back again and again and again.
My husband got sick from his hamburger which he suspected had been partially cooked, then finished later to his degree of “done”. But we’ve been coming for years and this was our first problem, and it won’t deter us from coming again....just from ordering hamburgers lol! Our waitress was lovely. The Covid restrictions were definitely adhered to. Like you, we can’t wait for a “full house” of chattering, happy diners! Hang in there!
