Poachers Pantry Smokehouse Cafe Canberra
Lunch: Sunday & Friday - Saturday: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Great brunch with space for kids to run and play on the grass. Really enjoyable and value for money
The ambience and service were good but the Mains were a HUGE disappointment. We enjoyed the Farmhouse charcuterie board to share, the portion was enough for 4 people. However, for the mains we ordered the smoked rack of lamb and smoked duck breast. To our disgust, both pieces of protein were COLD CURED with the fats not rendered off. The lamb had no lamb flavour & everything that was on the plate was unpalatable. I ate my duck breast because it was $37 although it just tasted like ham. Overrated
From ordering to service 40 minute wait, food arrived white of eggs uncooked but yolks solid, no fresh orange juice left - had sold out on a Sunday morning after only being open for 90 mins.Average service for a quiet Sunday morning had to follow up with wait staff on where and when the food would arrive, very poor experiance won't be going back!
We enjoyed our second visit to Poachers Pantry a lovely venue with nice local wines and smoked meats. The only downside to the occasion was that the barramundi was very fatty and mushy. Others enjoyed the duck.
A group of friends had brunch recently which we enjoyed very much. An easy, lovely drive from Canberra set the tone. The staff were friendly and helpful with special requests, the food came out hot and fresh, and the ambiance was rustic and inviting. Portions were not large, and I dare say some dishes may have needed another dash of salt. That said, each of us commented that we will absolutely be back. We didn't taste the wines on this trip, but some of us purchased some smoked products to take home. Absolutely delicious!
Waiter served spilt wine glass. Had to ask it to be cleaned up, as wine spilt on table. Not cleaned properly so had to source a paper napkin from side table to clean glass. Cheese was not served with shared platter that stated cheese. When provided, only served small amount that did not balance with other platter dips. Too much acidity. Great written menu but it didn't realize itself on plate. Too minimal serves for a country restaurant. Didn't warrant $38 for mains.
underwhelmed at poachers pantry
Lovely location, delicious food, smooth service and decent wine.
Food was delicious except anything with a pastry in it (goat cheese tart and Mille feuille). They need a chef who can do pastry or take those things of the menu! Our entrees came out at the same time as our mains. We asked to eat the mains first (they were hot) and have the entrees after. They agreed but then brought the entrees back about 2 mins later. Bad communication between staff and overall very unprofessional.Overall atmosphere and food was very good, but they need to train staff!
Excellent shared starter and main; desserts ok
Been coming to Poachers for 10 years now and the menu is getting a little over-complicated. Please keep it real guys.
Actually the food was not that good as the first when I came out two years earlier.
Went for lunch on a Friday and pretty much had the place ourselves. Perfect way to spend a special moment with my wife.
Fantastic location with stunning scenery. You truly feel like you have escaped from the hustle and bustle of the city. Great quality food and service. The cellar door wine tasting was a bonus too!
Very nice spot
We had a lovely time at the Smokehouse cafe. The food was lovely, the wine from the Wily Trout was really good and went well with the meal. The restaurant looks out on a lovely garden and was perfect for our celebration.
Thank you for making this occasion special for us :) We will definitely come back - Food was really scrumptious. My only gripe was that the smoked duck dish was really small for a main and it wasn't worth the price.
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, the service was great and it was a perfect venue for a special family lunch.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary. Great food and friendly service
great little place.....with even better food
The food was fantastic and great setting in the country
Appealing country venue, interesting menu in relation to food combinations, our party of 3 all ordered something different and everyone was very pleased with their choice of main & dessert
An awesome place to go, food, staff and service absolutely awesome
We ordered the lamb roast but it was not as nice as the previous time. The beef cheeks were amazing though. We ordered the meat platter to share, best meat selection but the lavosh was soft. I asked the waitress if it's normally soft and she said yes. I've had lavosh numerous times and it was always hard and crispy. That was disappointing that the waitress was not as attentive.
One of our favourite places in the Canberra region. Great to just order a charcuterie platter and share the delights from the smokehouse, or order one of the truly unique creations off the menu.
Nice setting but food took over 45mins to come out and we had to ask where it was at, we were not keep up to date with it's progress. Customer service and food was great though.
they accommodated our special requests and circumstances.
Hi thereTook my Mum over the weekend as an early bday lunch and were disappointing to find the old Duck dish was no longer there and the menu had been changed. Table was also dirty but apart from that service was fine. Overall still a great restaurant but just wasn't quite the experience i was hoping for.
First waiter stuffed up our order. After waiting an hour entrees had not arrived & when I enquired I was told there was no entree order. The host was more interested in determing which waiter had messed things up rather than apologising to our group. Food looked nice but was very overpriced based on the poor quality & lack of flavour. Waitress who served us at the time of paying was a rude, miserable cow & sealed the deal that we will not return to PP.
Beautiful surrounds, scrumptious food and absolutely lovely staff, a real pleasure to spend time there!
Nice day out, feels like the country but short trip from CBD.
We really enjoyed our brunch experience. Friendly staff and delicious food.
Our best dining experience so far in Canberra. The food was divine, atmosphere excellent and staff friendly and cheerful. Went for Father's Day lunch and although there were young children there they ran free outside leaving the rest of us to dine in peace. Will return again and again!
We enjoyed our visit but our main memory will always be the one tiny slice of lamb for the entree, disappointing really.
Excellent experience, have been a few times and loved it every time. Not cheap but you really get what you pay for, excellent food and service in a beautiful location.
The service was fantastic and the food was delicious!
Main Course ravioli not a main course sizeAll other meals excellentBaguettes too dry and overpriced
Had a great lunch here, certainly lives up to reviews, would recommend a visit.
Beautiful rural spot & rustic atmosphere now with an excellent sealed road...much appreciated. We had breakfast, sweet bread with ricotta custard, the caramelized apples were cold & raw. Too many walnuts on plate...I hate waisting good food.Overall other breakfast plates looked inviting. I love the rural location & always enjoy returning to this well presented restaurant. Congratulations to all the staff & owners for you're hard work, it stands out.Thankyou.
