It's a great place to meet people, with an excellent bar and lots of areas where to sit and chat.
The restaurant is good and the service as well. I like the salads and the main dishes. Once in a while there is something that is a bit of a stretch, not unusual for chefs in the US who love to invent even what should not be reinvented, like "Cacio e pepe" It's not advisable to mess with the original recipe by adding ingredients that do not fit just to make it a little different. It doesn't work. "Pecorino Restaurant" does a better job with that dish (but not with others - they have no idea of how to make "puntarelle").
The food was pretty good but the cocktails were quite small for the price. Service was slow but friendly so don’t come here if you’re in a rush
Very nice for a quiet breakfast. Great food I would highly recommend.
Very enjoyable. Service exceptional and prompt. Look forward to my next visit.
Enjoyed a mid-week luncheon at Plateia. The menu is nicely eclectic and features sustainable fare. It also changes so there is always something new to try. The service has come along way from when it first opened. Still, no matter if I have reservations or not, the greeters always seem pained to find my table. When I requested outdoor seating on line, it seemed available but when I and my guests arrived, it was reserved for a large party. We obliged and ate inside but never saw the party. After the meal, I asked the person taking my plate for a coffee. Again, the pained look followed by, oh, okay I can do that. I guess I'm only supposed to ask MY table's server. I wish it felt more like a genuinely welcoming atmosphere but somehow despite how good the food is I always leave with a sour taste in my mouth.
So a bit of a surprise here. Was recommended by one of of wine group members. A bit out of the way up on the UCLA campus and parking quite expensive. Personally I parked down in the village at a public lot for $5 plus EV car charging. But, surprisingly good food. One of us had the scallops dish. Quite good although the sauce even being good a bit sweet. For me forget the impossible burger. Nyet!! Definitely get the artichoke sun dried pesto pizza. Excellent!!!
I feel very bad that the servers can’t take tips. They should change that policy immediately. Our server was a gem! She took an old bottle of Bordeaux with an old cork and was able to extract so we could enjoy. Kudos to her!!
Overall a pleasant surprise.
Delicious food! Wonderful service and ambiance! My friends and I enjoyed a lovely lunch. Will definitely be back!
The food was about the same level as CPK-CA Pizza Kitchen only much more expensive. The building was beautiful but over lit. Even my daughter said Mom why are the lights so bright. I marked the noise level as low but only three other tables were filled so that is probably why. The wait staff dropped the plates and ran without asking Is everything OK ? Can I get you anything else? It was difficult to find the parking. Two people stood under an umbrella but no valet is available. They pointed to underground parking entrance that had no visible sign. Unfortunately I would not recommend Plateia.
The food was delicious and the environment is a great one for meetings and social gatherings. Our server was not very attentive though, he took a while to take our order (after we weren't initially ready) and he took a very long time to bring our check at the end of the meal.
Very caring staff but not the place to eat if you’re in a rush.
The crusted salmon and baked Alaska was fabulous. See ya next week!
Great pre-game eatery. Love the hamburger and fries. Impossible burger is great two though I’m not much for relish on it. Good beer selection. Plan to go again tomorrow.
Judy, Thank you so much for your review. It is wonderful hearing back from guests who enjoy and appreciate our commitment to food and service. Thanks, Plateia LCC UCLA
I have enjoyed Plateia Restaurant many times over the past few years. Since I stay at the Luskin for all my visits to UCLA, I have had the opportunity to dine at Plateia for every type of meal, including breakfast, brunch, lunch, appetizers, and dinner. I've enjoyed it every time! The menu offers a nice selection, and the food never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and delicious, and the options are not overpriced. The service has always been excellent as well. Highly recommend.
Despite a packed reservation list, we were seated on a timely basis and our reservation honored. Our waitress was friendly, smart, and aimed to please. The food was delicious (from the game day menu). Everything came promptly and servers were very attentive. We made it to the UCLA USC game with much time to spare. There was no stress to rush ! Thank you Plateia!
Excellent choice if you need to be on campus. No tipping permitted. Valet parking, but if you are at UCLA for an event at Pauley, for example, park in lot 8. Excellent service.
A few dings. Unfortunately, every time the doors in the dining section open, a blast of cold wind goes through. Ask the folks at engineering across Westwood Blvd. how to design around this.
We eat here often. I find the menu limited, and I think every single time I show up the soup of the day is butternut squash.
Wonderful, welcoming, friendly, unobtrusive staff. Excellent menu selections and very flexible with modification requests. Flavor of food excellent without being overdramatic or too edgy.
Great I enjoyed it.
Always great service
It's always a pleasure to dine here whether for lunch or dinner.
Nice selection of tasty dishes; courteous and efficient service
This was my third visit and each time has been wonderful. The food is delicious with healthy size portions that can easily be split. Don't miss ordering the french fries - to die for!! The wait staff is sublime - most attentive - and the restaurant has a no tip policy so the pricing ends up very moderate for this caliber of dining.
Loved our dinner at Plateia- we were staying at the hotel so very convenient! Food is very good!
Plateia provides excellent food and cheerful service. Since its opening two or three years ago, I've eaten at Plateia perhaps ten times, and have always enjoyed the experience. I especially like the vegan burger and the mushroom pizza, and my wife loves the grilled salmon.
Waiter, Robert, was excellent. Robert went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and that our dining experience was superb.
Great service by Robert
The pizza was delicious and also the salad. The wait staff was attentive.
We have eaten at Plateia for lunch which turned out fine. Dinner was another matter. We had reservations and were seated promptly, but at an extraordinarily small table for two. Our server took our drink order. Our fresh bread basket arrived after flagging down the mgr., no olive oil or butter. Our order was taken but took over 30 minutes to arrive. Our shared salad dressing was very salty as was my wife's pasta/shrimp entree. When I alerted our server about it, she said it was one of her favorite salads on the menu! I told her we would probably say the same if not for the saltiness. During the dinner, we had no room for our salad, entrees, wine glasses, bread basket as they arrived as a result of the small table. I mentioned to one server who also helped out that maybe we could combine two small tables for more space. She said she couldn't do that. With the long wait, we were running up against our concert time so we were rushed.
Dinner before a UCLA Basketball game
The range of food selections was quite good. Since a friend and I were dining rather late, we had only a main course. Both pasta selections were very good. The service was excellent. When judging the prices, you should know that there is no tipping(!). We shared a very good bottle of Italian red wine for a very reasonable price. My only complaint is my frequent one: the selection of wine by the glass was *extremely* limited and ordinary. If I had been dining alone (as I often am), I would have been quite unhappy. Otherwise, I recommend it for anyone visiting UCLA who does not wish to make the hike down the hill into Westwood.
Nick our waiter was great!
Food was perfect
I had chicken avocado sandwich
My wife had chicken soup and salad-excellent as well
Beers were fresh and cold-generous pour.
I like the new game day menu.
Also with our reservation we were seated quickly.
Will be back!
Acoustics limit conversation for diners. Otherwise good food and service.
Outstanding menu and service as always truly exceptional.
Had dinner at Plateia to celebrate a birthday. The yellowtail tartare was wonderful (although the bread they served with it was partly burned) and the radicchio frisee salad was delicious and big enough to serve three people. Also enjoyed the spaghetti with prawns and the pan-seared duck (which would have been even better with potatoes or rice added). And the chocolate torte was a lovely way to finish off the meal. Will definitely try to return there soon.
Phenomenal French toast and Croque Madame for Brunch. Wonderful atmosphere. Soothing and relaxing
The food was underwhelming. The baba ganoush had no flavor. The scallops were great in texture but over salted. We liked the bread the most, and for the price of the main dishes the cuisine fell very short of our expectations. The service was friendly and attentive.
A (not so) hidden gem on the campus of UCLA...
Located in the heart of the campus at the Luskin Conference Center & Hotel, Plateia is a great spot for a pre-show or sporting event dinner not to mention lunch if you're visiting the campus.
Great food! Friendly staff and wonderful look. Highly recommended!
This is a lovely relaxed restaurant on ucla campus with good well priced food. And there’s no tipping which helps the pocketbook
The Sunday evening (5:00 pm) menu is limited, but the salads, sandwiches and burger were very good, and the restaurant is a convenient walking distance from Royce Hall.
Located in the hotel on the UCLA campus. It is used by hotel guests and UCLA staff and students mainly. For us it is a destination restaurant because of the freshness of the ingredients and the chef. Something on the menu for everyone. But the chef makes very interesting dishes that compete with high end gourmet restaurants. They are growing their own produce on campus and they make everything on site including bread and desserts. It is almost a farm to table restaurant and they are ready to become 100% sustainable. We go mainly for lunch. Long lunch.
