Pig ’N’ Whistle - West End
The Dining Room menu has been carefully curated by Pig ‘N’ Whistle West End’s Head Chef using eclectic flavours and quality ingredients. With a traditional British offering at its core, Pig 'N' Whistle also serves up a variety of different steaks, tapas dishes, desserts and more.
Food was diabolical. Fish and Chips were cremated and the fish was as dry as a bone (probably frozen fillets). Beer was non-descript and tasteless. Very poor value for money and a very poor advert for British Pub food.
Bar was hopping so we asked to eat in the dining room . Was told "No" as it was only for people with reservations. Got online with opentable, booked for right then, showed the server. Service was nothing but downhill from there. Not sure if they were mad we knew we cold book online, or if they didn't like that we were able to get around them, but our main food server was extremely rude and the original server didn't bother to come back out and show us to our table. I had to ask someone else. Plus side, food is fantastic, and the sticky date pudding and trifle desserts were heavenly.
We booked on line to have dinner in the dining room in the air conditioning
When we arrived for our booking we were made to wait then we were told that we were being seated in the bar area - extremely loud and not air conditioned
We were not able to talk to each other at all the noise was so loud - the singer was extremely loud too
We were told that they had had a problem with flies in the dining room yesterday - well yuck makes me not want to eat there at all and then if it was yesterday then all online bookings for the dining room should have been blocked so as not to inconvenience the customer
I was told that entrees were not served first and that all good courses would come out together - lovely !!!!!! NOT
My fish was - fish of the day - very very dry
All round experience was terrible and will never go there again
Nice seating arrangements, however food was very expensive. I ordered a Margherita pizza which was impossible to cut through with the blunt knives and over cooked crust. Part of the pizza sauce was burnt so I was basically eating burnt, crusty dough. Very, very expensive. Would not come here again. Also, very limited vegetarian options.
Good value upmarket Pub Food, well presented and cheerful environment.
Good for pretheatre dining
Visited Pig’n’Whistle restaurant prior to Qpac show and was once again very impressed.
This has become our “go to “place for a good value, tasty meal when in the South Brisbane area. The standard of food is always great - their burgers some of the best we’ve had. Gado Gado salad light and tasty. Great wine selection as well.
Service is always quick and efficient and staff are smiling and welcoming. Big thank you to our wonderful waiter in the restaurant who very kindly chased us up the street with my scarf I’d carelessly left behind- good on you!
Pre-show dinner. Terrific timing!
Love the place 😄
Great food, great service with plenty of room for large groups.
Great food Great friendly service. No long waits for our meal.
We were booked in to see a show and asked for prompt service. Service was wonderful.
Food was very good and came to us very quickly, all food had by everyone in my group was very good.
We ate early (pre matinee) so restaurant area was empty but was a quiet and comfy corner we had anyway. Waitress was lovely and food was well timed.
Celebrating my husbands birthday!
Bar staff/waitress etc were very friendly and helpful!
Made for a great evening
A disappointing start to this visit, as the bar attendant didn't seen to understand about the OpenTable booking, and said the dining room wasn't open for lunch, and suggested seating in the bar area. When advised of the booking and that the restaurant did open for lunch (from past visits), and a seat taken in the dining room, a new but friendly waitress provided fair service.
It seems new staff and inconsistent training leaves room for improvement presently.
Super yummy!! A little bit pricey, but worth it! Handy location and quick service. Highly recommend :)
Good food ,good price .
Great share plate menu, was really great food and our server was lovely. Though it was strange when we went to order dessert at about 6:10 we were advised not to as there was a 40 minute delay in the kitchen because it was so busy and we were going up to the theatre for 7;30 pm show. When we looked around the restaurant, there were only a few tables in the dining room and the outside area wasn't too busy. I'd hate to go there on a full night!
Lovely venue, nice environment. Staff were really helpful, courteous and efficient. Food well cooked and tasty. Good value for money would go again whenever in Brisbane.
We have used the Pig n Whistle on several occasions when attending QPAC as its always convenient for dinner before the show. Having overseas visitors we boasted about how previous dinners had been very nice but unfortunately this time was very disappointing and slightly embarrassing to say the least. While the service was great as usual the quality of food was not the best for example, more batter than actual fish, pizza base like cardboard and beef skewers tough. We were offered coffee as compensation for poor meals but not able to except as time was not on our side. We do hope this is just a one off incident otherwise it would be a shame to loose this convenient pre show dinner/drinks place.
Perfect location before going to a show at Qpac.
Service was excellent and food delicious.
Liked that there are plenty of options to choose from. Something to suit everyone in our group.
Have already recommended it to a friend.
I can'r remember the gentlemans name (it was like Ago?) but he was BRILLIANT! I would come back just for him! And the other staff were fabulous. So very professional. This is the staff in the restaurant - we didn't sit in the bar area so I can't speak for them.
The food was delicious and came out quite quickly (considering we were a table of 15). Would definitely recommend pig and whistle at west end!
Made an online booking thinking it was the outdoor area - it is not. It only applies to the "Dining Room'" which is a seperate room away from the bar and the live music. A lot more quiet and a seperate menu. You can't order off the outside menu in the Dining Room either. We ended up moving and they kindly accommodated us to do so - but be aware the areas are quite different in ambience.
