Philippe Chow - Uptown
Had to wait 40 minutes for the table (with reservation), music in the lobby/bar area was very loud, not much quieter in the dining area (couldn't hear the waiter the first time he spoke). But the food was delicious! We had green prawns, Beijing chicken and apple/almond tart with Ice cream. Cocktails were tasty as well. Fortunately we went there at the later hour (reservation was for 9pm), don't know how noisy/busy it's earlier in the evening.
Spare ribs were excellent. Vegetable lo Mein was too salty to eat. Fried duck salad had too much vinegar dressing. Service was very good.
The food was incredible. We got the salt and pepper lobster that was amazing, chicken satay, soup dumplings, lo mein and bok Choy. Would probably not return due to the terrible service, attitudes of the staff, inattentiveness of the waiters. For such a high priced/quality restaurant, the service should reflect. Very disappointed.
Absolutely delicious !!!
The food is beyond awesome. Many compliments to the chefs and staff. Always exquisite. Service impeccable from hostesses to waitresses to busing staff. Everyone is warm and accommodating. My one and only complaint is that the tables in the first dining room downstairs (across from the bar area but down the steps) are entirely TOO CLOSE together. When dining at a fine restaurant I shouldn’t have to hear the entire conversation of the patrons dining next to me and the table next to theirs and the table next to theirs and so on. I also shouldn’t have to experience the gluteus maximus of the patron dining next to me directly in my face when they get up - while I’m eating. It
was not romantic at our anniversary dinner... actually offensive and Phillipes should seriously consider reconfiguring the seating so that restaurant patrons can move freely between tables. It’s awkward and very uncomfortable with the few inches that currently exist. I’m not overweight at all and I had to squeeze to get out to go to the restroom (which is too dark - another issue- I can’t fix my makeup if I can’t see my reflection) and as I maneuvered to get out, I was frighteningly close to making something spill off of my table or my neighbors. Please think about taking out a table or two to make more room and lessen the decibel in the dining room. Other than that, I’m in love.
Our first time visiting and it exceeded all expectations. Server was awesome and the food incredible. Definitely on my return list when I visit again.
The food was so so. My chicken broccoli had good flavor but the chicken seemed mushy.
My lunch meeting was flawless. The food was perfect and the lunch time service was efficient.
Outstanding as always. This place is a must stop every time we come to NYC!
Don’t miss the Peking duck!
Fantastic experience! Can’t wait to go back on my next visit to NYC
High end Asian, always excellent. Can’t beat the cute panda chopstick holders. Love the satay, spring rolls, crispy duck salad, and a terrific prix fixe. Never disappoints.
Philippe was better than ever. The prix fixed lunch has always been wonderful, but the seasoning was the best it has been. The brownie with coconut sorbet and whipped cream was delicious.
Over priced and very average food! Our first server had a very bad attitude. Actually was quite rude and unhelpful. Not a place anyone should bother going to. There are many much better restaurants in the city. Waste of time and money.
Wonderful as usual.
We went out to dinner with another couple. We sat upstairs and the area was great we were able to talk and hear each other. All the food was amazing. We ordered the Peking duck which took 45 mins but that was fine since we ordered a bunch of appetizers and other dishes as well. Would def recommend the chicken and beef satay! Overall everything was amazing. Our waiter was super friendly. We would definitely dine here again!
Food was excellent and worth the money.
My go-to spot for celebrating...or just having a fun lunch!
The food was amazing and our server Florin was excellent
My husband took me for my birthday and I had the best time!!! The food was delicious and the ambiance was sexy and fun. Can't wait to go back!!
Went during restaurant for lunch. Food was good and plentiful for the price. Chicken Satay was delicious.
Where do I start... I came here on a date with my boyfriend. For background we are a young, black couple. Upon seating we were bypassed by our server, while he greeted all of the tables around us including the table directly next to us. He never introduced himself as our server or welcomed us to the restaurant. When he finally decided to come to our table after I made serious eye contact he said "what do you want?" I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking the restaurant was probably busy but to my surprise the table right next to me asked if he was busy tonight and he said "no, wish it was a bit busier." After taking our order we never saw our server again. He continued to be extremely attentive to the table directly next to us and his other tables in our section (I have to mention they are all middle aged to older white parties/couples). I got increasingly upset and at the end of our meal the server came over to ask if I was upset with the food. I told him I was upset with the service and how I was being treated. He apologized and offered to give me a free dessert as a consolation prize for being discriminated against. I refused the free dessert but he insisted that I take it and brought out a dessert to "make me happy." I'm sure at this point he was worried about a tip. At that point I just wanted to leave. I am so disgusted with the way I was treated and it was clear it was because we were perceived as having less or being less than. I will never return here and if you are anyone other than a white couple I don't suggest you come here either. You will not be treated fairly if even acknowledged at all. You all should be ashamed.
For reference I believe I sat at table 3 on the right-hand side of the restaurant. I ate here on Sunday, August 11.
I loved Philippe Chow since they first opened.
The service is outstanding.
I love the chicken satays with that delcious peanut sause. All the food is great.
it is my favorite place in the entire world.
I used to eat there at least three times a week but i lost my job so i cant afford to any more.
The service here is phenomenal. Our waiter was attentive and the restaurant staff was willing to fulfill special requests. Highly recommended.
Never disappoints me. By far my favorite restaurant in NYC!
Family time is a big deal and this was a beautiful place to have it. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were not rushed. We got to talk, laugh, catch up. The food was delicious from appetizers to desserts. It was a perfect night. Highly recommend this place for any occasion.
I was excited to see Philippe Chow on the NY Restaurant week and thought it would be a great opportunity to try it out. Very disappointed. There is a lot of great food in NYC. Food here was unremarkable and the service was very poor.
Over priced sodium ... that simply.waiters in an effort to provide great service are annoying - just like downtown version, the food is loaded in salt. Be prepared to retain water
Philippe Chow remains a stand out during what has become an increasingly disappointing Restaurant Week. Their menu selections not only reflect the quality of the kitchen, but portions are extremely generous and nicely presented. Everything is designed to share so you get to try twice as many items. Of the dishes we've tried, the crispy beef with orange and carrot sauce is our favorite. It isn't greasy or all coating like at some places and the sauce is just the right amount of sweet. The waiters are as courteous as they are to the diners having $85 duck. We wish it wasn't so noisy, but that's just another sign of their success.
As usual the food was fantastic. Unfortunately, our waiter seem to forget about us, we had to ask somebody to call him to get our order and then the food came out but again the waiter was no way around. We were very surprised as we have dined in there many times and the service was always superb. Don't know if it had something to do with the fact that we were in the back room. Not sure what happened, but we will definitely give it another try, as we love the food.
Waiter was great; food delicious; a bit pricey
Came here for my boyfriends birthday and I asked for the waiter to bring out a dessert with candle even if my boyfriend does not order something however he forgot. Ordered the filet, it was terrible and actually had a mushy texture. Also, although the waiter was polite to us I did see him mistreat the table next to us, it was terrible, the table next to us had an excessive wait time for their food and had to ask for a drink and take out box serval times before being helped. Very disappointed.
Very good food. Very good service. The dumplings soooo good.
The wait staff were super attentive and full of information. They were definitely the highlight of our evening.
We went for restaurant week and were pleasantly surprised. Generous portions and food is really tasty. Filet mignon was very spicy but we loved it. Nice wine list and reasonable prices. Seating though is tight
Food was delicious, great customer service , no long wait
Great food but way too loud! Wait staff even had trouble hearing.
I waited 20 minutes for the table.....................................!!!!!@@
