Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant
Dinner: Wednesday - Saturday: open
The paired wines were excellent. Each offering was different from the rest and even included a glass of Grange. The wine however outshone the food which was good but was nowhere near WOW which for the price I would expect. Great ingredients but a little safe in their use and presentation - some of the dishes being more suited to a luncheon. Would try again but only if someone else paying!!
Excellent restaurant with high quality interesting dishes - BUT, the portion sizes where too small, particularly given the pricing.I will be recommending it to friends etc, but will warn them that portion sizes are very small!
Great food..well presented. This is our second visit here. We were here a year ago. Portion sizes had changed slightly since then. They were smaller this visit, and I think our table of 3 preferred the slightly larger portion sizes last time, although the food was still delicious.
Superb food matched with amazing wines and fantastic staff.
Excellent meal, service and wine
Excellent food with a fantastic matched luxury wine option. Great views over the vineyardvineyards to the city lights. But don't go there if you are expecting a cheap feed.
From the moment we walked through the doors the front of house team looked after us; friendly and attentive without being too familiar the team were knowledgeable about the food and wine. The food itself was beautiful - wonderful produce allowed to shine. A lovely progression from seafood through to the heavier red meat dishes and finishing on sweets. The sommelier paired each dish with a great wine, one of the best wine pairings I've had all year. I'd highly recommend Magill Estate to others.
Exceptional dinning experience. Great customer service and the staff was very knowledgeable on their food and wine.I highly recommend it for anyone looking to surprise the special someone. Yes, Be prepared to pay $$$, but its worth every penny.
Fabulous food with exceptional service! Pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
Possibly the best meal I've ever had!
All guests had dietary requirements and they were all catered for. Nothing was too difficult.
Exceptional setting, great wine, initially exceptional service, but disappointingly service deteriorated significantly (to a poor level) towards the end of the evening.
Delicious food and of course wonderful wines to match, with a wonderful view of the vineyard.Good service, the wait staff even helped sell us some hard to get bottles of chardonnay :DDefinitely a place worth visiting if you're holidaying in Adelaide just to experience the Penfolds vibe.
A great dinning experience in a very cold night unfortunately will spoiled our must convoited expectation. Impecable service unable to stay more than 3 minutes at the bar to relax before dinner as the room was too cold and the dinning room temperature was not even better. Great variety of dishes a nice seven courses menu, the pork belly was chilled, the Beef waggyu was tender even without any marble traces and was at room temperature! and I don't know why the cheesecake tasted like an ice Cream
The balance of all aspects was marvellous- from the decor, through the service to the amazing food, including the matched service. Everything obviously had a lot of thought put into it. Nothing was "slap dash".The "retro" feel decor works well and the small number of tables ensures an intimate experience.
Unique experience. However, the seating arrangement needs to be reconsidered. We were a party of two. One person got a great view of the Adelaide landscape, the other got a great view of the kitchen!
I had an amazing experience at magill estate every dish was delicious and i could not fault any thing one the finest meals i have eaten will be recommending it and also will be going back again.
Exclusivity and exposure to some amazing foods and tastes
A truly special restaurant experience. We were fortunate to be seated at a small banquet over looking the vineyards & city. The chef has created a series of very delicious dishes. Paired with the recommended wines it was a wonderful experience.A long & luxurious dinner. We left full, but not overfed like many degustation experiences. One of only a few of Adelaide's world class dining experiences.
Staff were very approachable and eager to please. Meals were fantastic and we declined tea/coffee but it was suggested to us to try the petit fours at no extra cost.
Exquisite food, well presented by friendly and knowledgeable staff.Of course, best matched wine.No hidden extra costs.
The staff made us feel very welcome. The food and wine selection was fantastic, but that was to be expected. We felt like we were the only customers for the night.
I was very impressed with the whole experience of dining at Magill Estate. The service was excellent, the upgraded décor very modern and stylish, and the degustation menu was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine wine and food, and it is the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.
Magill Estate were very gracious in accommodating a late diner, and allowing us to linger after the other diners had left.We felt that the fresh textures that accompanied the various dishes accentuated the purity of the produce. This was really admired at our table. The wine accompaniments were excellent and showcased an impressive range of Penfold wines beyond the high profile icons. We also drank the Yattarna and Grange, and Magill Estate is an ideal location to enjoy these glorious wines.
The snacks and seafood courses were outstanding, but then the rest of the meal was underwhelming and a bit lacklustre. The major disappointments include the long wait time between dishes, tasteless truffles that added nothing to the dish, trying to pass off a a palate cleanser as one of the 7 courses, and the worst of them all, including a very young Grange from one of the poorer vintages as a pairing.
I had anticipated great wines however the food was a great surprise. Beautifully cooked and prepared. Not over the top fancy. Really promoted the quality of the produce used. We didn't have a bad dish across the 7 course. Very generous with the wine served with the degustation.
We had an excellent dinner at Magill Estate. It was a cool winter evening and the food + wine was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
A very special evening
This is a world class restaurant. Couldn't fault food , wine or service. Great view of city lights from secluded table for two in stunning surroundings.
Excellent food and wine in a beautiful setting with exceptional service. Was definitely a very special night.
Amazing food, exceptional service and such a beautiful venue. Had a wonderful evening!
Second time we've done the degustation plus luxury wines package and again it was a perfect way to celebrate a milestone occasion.
An important occasion was elevated by the wonderful experience of Magills - there was beautiful attention to detail from the moment we were seated, with special greetings from the wait staff to a personalised print out of the food & wine to take home at the end. The meal was exemplary (of course there were preferred and less-preferred items, you expect this) and there was certainly more than enough to satisfy. We selected the less expensive wine pairing, & I loved the option to try Grange!
Fabulous service and absolutely made my husbands 50th birthday one to remember. Thank you for making our dinner so special and the food, wine and service were incredible!
food and services are excellent
Absolutely excellent. Great attention to detail for venue, food and wine.
The food is a little foreign to me, but the atmosphere is great.
World class act. Thoroughly enjoyed 5 hrs at Magill.Beautiful room, sincere service. Very knowledgable Sommelier.
Three words - it was amazing !!
