Passiontree Velvet Macquarie
I booked a high tea for 8 people for 10:30am yesterday at Passiontree Velvet Macquarie Centre but the staff had no record of my booking even though I had received email confirmation from OpenTable. We were told to wait 30 minutes and advised the staff don't receive notification of on-line bookings and I should have called or dropped in to book!! Food was nice though quickly prepared which meant a lot of cutting and slicing - one slice of cheesecake for 7 people is hard to divide evenly!
We had a booking for high tea. The staff looked like they had no idea about it and were not expecting us at all. We did have to wait some time for them to set up I think due to the confusion.
Sweets looked lovely and tasted nice but the sandwiches came out very dry. The waitress was polite and took care of us. A bit of a mixed experience unfortunately. Still not a bad place for a more casual high tea as it is nestled in a food court.
Went for high tea with my friend. We booked for 11 , came 10 min early , our high tea arrived 30 mins later. Ordered 2 drinks took 25 mins for the drinks -coffee was cold.
Iced tea had to ask twice where it was and they forgot . Was not tea was cinnamon flavoured cordial.
Food arrived, staff didn’t explain what it was or what we were eating just dumped it and walked away.
I had to look at flavours of dessert with their dessert cabinet
We watched them prepare the food as we were near the kitchen- no staff wore any gloves and they scratched their heads and continued to prepare our food.
Sandwich bread felt stale, didn’t eat any of it , cucumber with butter aparantly was acceptable. Rest were ham and cheese and something with salmon on it.
Little apple tart thing was raw inside and microwaved crumbled to touch .
There was salmon on saladas.
Scone and macaroon were ok,
We paid $70 for high tea and this was terrible.
We spoke to their staff about it, they said sorry I asked to see the manager they pointed to her and said go see her.
We got another staff to flag the manager down, and she came over, we expressed our disappointment, she appologised and offered a pack of macaroons in return we asked a refund, she offered 1 refund, we then asked for our money back as we couldn’t eat the rest of the food as it wasn’t nice and stale
She refunded in the end.
Wouldn’t go back
Very poor service. Staff extremely rude which spoilt the atmosphere.
A lovely presented high tea at a great price. Nice surroundings that was surprisingly quiet. Staff were pleasant.
The waiters didn't understand the order, we spent half of the time trying to order and waiting for food.
The staff didn't ask which cakes we'd like to order and brouht the cakes we didn't want
Not enough savory food, too many cakes
it was a very chaotic experience
Generally nice hide out to enjoy a chat with family and friends.
Celebrated a combined birthday celebration with friends over the weekend. We each ordered a Duchess Full High Tea and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The food was delicious and finely decorated. The service was prompt and friendly. Definitely worth checking out.
was supposed to have high tea there as booked, it turned that high tea menu has to be pre-booked. I really don't understand how it worked, I booked the high tea time slot but have to pre-book the high tea sets again? How, additional phone call on top of the web booking? It is a confusing experience and with this price tag, I am not impressed.
Lovely waiter who was friendly and patient with me even though I got the order mixed up!
Unfortunately, there was nothing special about this dining experience.
We did not think that the food was worth the money that was spent on this. Especially being vegetarians we got cucumber and egg sandwiches. Though the service was good and the staff very pleasant, the overall deal is really not worth it.
Lovely high tea which was good value for money.
We went for a High Tea, to celebrate a birthday and were dissapointed to find out it was in the middle of a Food court.
The ambience for High Tea was not at all present. The food was pretty good, the scones & macaroons. The service was pretty good.
So it wasn't a bad experience but I will not return there or recommend it for a high tea experience.
I think a change in venue, in a cafe with more privacy is needed.
Terrible service. Staff had no idea of their own high tea menu, took 15 mins to figure out what they actually have and don't have, can & can't do. We sat behind the counter for high tea,Milk froth went all over my friend's hair and back and they thought it was funny although later apologised. Gave us macaroon menu but several a attempts in choosing a flavour they kept saying "oh we don't have that one today" repeatedly! Ended up asking them directly."So what do you have?" Place is not worth it!
Very, very disappointed. Not at all prepared for the large numbers. We had booked and confirmed by text of a table for 3 people, including my 86 yr old mother, for high tea for Mothers Day. No coffee or tea until about 50min after we asked, no food for another1/2 hour. Very disappointed.
I was have a cake on that day is not fresh.
Excellent service. Great scones and tea. The sandwiches were hard on the outside but fine on the inside. Stll very tasty. My only beef was there was a person from the general shopping center sitting right next to us for most of our sitting. Even closer than the next table. We thought we would have a bit more privacy. It was a special celebration and we couldn't really discuss private matters. Our host was amazing and we didn't want to upset her.
For the setting in a open shopping not quite the high tea I was hoping ..... i thought in a enclosed cafe yes ...but out the front of coles ...no
