We attended the 'Higher Tea' at Paramount Rec Club and would probably not go back. Everything about our experience was just okay... except for the Service, which was nonexistent.
The savory dishes were good and the sweet desserts had all melted by the time we could even eat them. Which is saying a lot, considering the dishes (if we can call them that) were minuscule.
This was advertised as a 'High Tea', however, there was nothing remotely fancy about the Club, the setting, decor, even the tea was poured out of a plastic container (and straight on to my friend's phone, but more on that in the 'Service' paragraph). We were given a menu that detailed the 10 'courses' we were about to receive which all sounded delicious!
The 5 savory 'courses' arrived on a tiered platter with no explanation from the waiter as to which item was which, what was special or exciting or different about them, just a 'here...' and off he went.
The crap service was a running theme throughout our meal, with the waitress taking the cake for caring the least when she poured tea all over one of our phones and then did nothing about it. My friend eventually realized that her phone was floating in a pool of T2's finest Hibiscus and so the waitress went off to get some napkins.
The 5 desserts came out with another 'here...' from the waiter and by the time he had turned around they were already melted to the plate.
Overall most of the food was fine, there was no service to speak of and it definitely wasn't worth the $60 a head. Better luck next time Paramount! Although I won't be coming back to find out.
The Sunday buffet was good. Simple food. A touch overpriced for what it was however we enjoyed it. You could go back for as much as you liked if you wanted to. There was no live music as advertised
A relaxing and lazy Sunday lunch. Great food with an excellent choice and plenty so you could go back a number of times. The team were very friendly and helped make it a great afternoon
I would definitely recommend
Absolutely loved the Paramount Recreation Club. Attend the Harvest Sunday Lunch which was amazing! Such delicious food and great value for money. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend Paramount RC!
The setting was great and very impressive however I thought the overall experience was impacted by value for money which was below what I expected compared to other competitor venues. I think adding complimentary coffee, juices etc would benefit as would an explanation from the staff upon arrival to explain what would be on offer with the buffet menu.
Strong potential to be a must do Sydney brunch with a few tweaks 👍
My friend and I had a fantastic time at this venue. The staff were great, so was the food and the entertainment was perfect. It's a great setting on a rooftop, with fresh delicious food and friendly, attentive staff. I'd highly recommend.
