Always love coming here!
Fantastic meal once again. This place never disappoints for us. Yes we had reservations but that was it. We walked in,gave our names and were promptly seated. Waiter came right over, explained the specials and while we were debating the wine list a woman sommelier came over and guided us to the perfect wine for our meal. We started with carpaccio, went into the truffle and mushroom pasta and finished with the wild boar. Wow! Never had a bad meal or experience here. Our go to spot on the UWS for either Italian food but especially for fresh pasta dishes
I was happy that my dining requirements brought me back to the Upper West Side so that I could return to Pappardella after an absence of a couple of years. Fortunately it remains the same cozy place, excellent food, good service and excellent value.
Great options for gluten free and all food is delicious
Service was all over the place. Waiter disappeared and was replaced without notice... not impressed with service but it was ok
Pappardella is one of the UWS’s greatest gems. Always delectable with impeccable service... It’s stood the test of time!
PS – If you’re gluten-free, run, don’t walk! So many options for a GF diet, and their GF garlic bread is absolutely delicious!
I really wanted to like this restaurant. The host was very nice and accommodating when we arrived early for our reservation. We were seated. Our waitress could not tell us what the specials were. Specials start at 5, and we were there a few minutes before. Perhaps I would’ve waited an extra 10 minutes to order if I knew what the specials were, but was not given that option. After taking our order, the waitress left. As in went home. Did not tell us she was leaving or introduce us to whomever would be serving us, and I do not think another waiter was assigned to our table. Our waters were never refilled until we were able to flag someone down. Our food took close to an hour to come out, so I guess it is a good thing I didn’t wait around for the specials, since we were seeing a show after dinner. No time for dessert. No one came to check on us to see if we were ok, or if we wanted anything else. The food was decent. My husband had the pappardelle buttera, which he enjoyed. My meal gnocchi pesto) was nothing special. And of course, the bill for one appetizer and two entrees should’ve left me feeling like I enjoyed my meal, which I did not. We will not be back.
Absolutely a good solid meal. Was going to the Beacon and it’s 2 blocks away. The food is really good, and the place is really nice. I would definitely go again.
Sadly, this restaurant is NOT FOR ME!!! The quality of the food was just not there. My entree came out COLD, and it was not a salad. In fact, it was roasted chicken, which at the first bite, I knew it was not edible. The cream of spinach looked like it was swimming in milk, and the pomodoro sauce really looked like a can of tomato sauce was just poured over the gnocchi's. The restaurant itself could use a little dusting and some updating as well.
Visited early evening with two five year olds after a museum visit. The restaurant was packed, but staff very helpful and patient, food delicious and great atmosphere. Grandchildren so impressed they enjoyed their food and behaved mostly like grown ups!
First time; won’t be my last! Excellent Italian food, cute, busy restaurant, knowledgeable service.
I haven't been here in over 20 years. Was pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious. Service was good but could have been a little more subtle in handling of substitutions, etc. Bus boy was really helpful and kept the meal moving. The table was large, the bread flowed, an intimate conversation could be had over the din in the very lively room. Cocktails, appys, entrees and dessert w tip was $75 a person A good value for the dollar and the fresh pasta was simply out of this world!
always consistent in the food category and an unusual Italian wine list to try. adore their melanzane parmigiana and good portions as well. always appreciate when it is not too loud as there really is nothing to muffle sound. the staff is a bit lackluster but there is always someone around if you need assistance.
Restaurant did a great job New Years Eve! Live music too!
Really enjoyed the whole experience. Great food !!!
Amazing. We love it here!
We had dinner before a concert at the Beacon theater. Food was delicious, with really good gluten free pasta and bread. Service was fine, and we'll definitely return.
Incredible experience. It had a full gluten free menu and a full regular menu. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic!
Low quality food. Awful bronzino that was not fresh. Don’t waste an evening here
Food is always very good as it has been over the years. But it was packed the other night and was loud.
Sehr laut und hektisch, gutes Essen, aber sehr kleine Portionen, eher schlechtes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, guter und aufmerksamer Service, der lediglich etwas gehetzt wirkte.
We really enjoyed our dinner here. We had Frutta d Mar and chicken cutlet parmigiana. Service started out great , but then we had to look for our waiter. The restaurant is very cozy. We were celebrating a special occasion, the hostess did acknowledge. I would recommend this restaurant.
This was our second time to this restaurant. The food is delicious. My 10-year-old daughter loves the food here and request this restaurant every time we come to New York City. the ambience is relaxing.
Long time favorite. Never disappointed. Dinner was not just good it was GREAT. and don’t pass up the Panna Cotta or the ricotta cheese cake!! And we sat there fir three hours and no one rushed us out. Unique for NYC
A friendly and atmospheric neighborhood place--very good food and gracious service. A real winner.
Really hate to bad mouth a place but this one just decided to ignore two older women. We were seated on time, and our order was taken promptly. Our water, bread and salad came out quickly and correctly. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. We had become invisible. Everyone else was taken care of, people seated well after we were enjoyed their entrees...and our waitress was MIA. We called over the manager who said “Yes, right away!” And did nothing. We got our entrees after complaining and of course they were cold. We asked for new entrees. What we got were hot plates with the same entrees warmed up. We asked for the check and waited. And waited. Finally I tossed a few dollars over the total due, photographed it on the table, and left. Nope, not coming back.
Nice venue & ambience for Christmas Day meal
The food was very hot, which I loved, however the taste was underwhelming and it wasn’t just my dish of spaghetti frutti di mare, the meatballs and chicken parm were also just ok. The waiters were lovely, the hostess was bland like the food. It was Christmas Day, if u can’t muster good cheer that day, well, I can only assume what ur like on a regular day.
We ordered the fixed price Christmas dinner. Everything was great. Wife had sweet potato gnocchi in a light cream sauce and I had the porcini and celery bisque. The wine was a great value and easily held it’s own against bottles costing twice as much or more. It was a Barbera.sevice was attentive without being intrusive. A great experience
The place is nice, the food is ok (3 out of 5 stars).
Everything at Pappardella was great, will visit again!
May be because it was xmass eve and the restaurant was full booked but the server forgot our drinks and when we already finish the appetizers we have to remind him twice that we were missing our drinks and then he finally get it. besides that the food was good and the value is ok.
Great neighborhood restaurant with terrific food. Amazing gluten free options that were delicious
Always outstanding. Food and service love this place
The food is always amazing,.
What a value! Food is amazing and reasonably priced. Tables are turned for privacy. Service was wonderful.
Very nice staff. Good food. Quick service
Tables a bit small. But that was ok
Good value for location
Excellently executed staples of the New York Italian restaurant scene, plus some imaginative daily surprises (this time, a pork chop Milanese that was perfect) and reasonable prices. The wine list is very good (there is even a primitivo by the glass) and the service is cheerful and professional. The only drawback: it attracts groups of celebrants (tables of 6 or 8 seem common), and they can get loud, despite the high ceiling.
Always a pleasure dining at this restaurant. Its walking distance for us a BIG plus in the winter. The pasta is easily in the Top 10 of NY restaurant. Great wine list and the stafff helps you if you are not the familiar or if you are torn between should I go with this bottle or another.
