Step into our Japanese fish market where Panko Chan and his mates are serving seafood that's straight off the boat, direct from the fisherman, with a unique twist.
With full bar service, Panko Chan serves a great range of beers, wines and cocktails providing a great accompaniment to your meal.
Can't find a booking time to suit? We are situated only 130m from Kingston Beach, our take away service provides a great opportunity to enjoy fantastic Fish & Chips on the waterfront.
We loved everything about our visit to Panko Chan. We'll be back!
The freshest ingredients are used in all of the dishes.
Tapas with a Japanese flair so delicious you just want to order them in sequence.
Fish and chips ascend to a whole new level with the mixed sweet potato, lotus and potato chips.
Love this place.
The only things wrong were with the chips: one of our party ordered potato chips only and they took about 5 minutes to arrive after the main meal. Another of our party had ordered sweet potato and lotus root chips only; these did not arrive until somewhat later as potato and lotus root chips were cooked in error firstly, then the chef(s) realised the mistake and had to re-cook the order. Otherwise, everything was excellent. We'll go back!
Delicious and well priced this understandably popular restaurant deserves a visit. The tempura fish is a must. Hmmmm!
Superbly fresh fish with nice crumb & batter options. The Tuna poke bowl was the stand out for me , so clean, fresh and filling also with a nice citrus dressing and fresh wasabi ....looking forward to returning again soon.
Great food & Great service! Thanks Panko Chan - see you next time 😀
Love this restaurant - it is my new Japanese local. Fabulous authentic delicious food and great service
Great little place, we were there on a Monday so a little quiet. Will definitely be back.
Lovely service and recommended. Food was pretty unique and every dish was yummy
Incredible Japanese tidbits and flawless fresh fish and chips. The focus on the slightest details is evident through out the meal. One of the best new places to eat in Southern Tassie.
Amazing as usual; great food and service. Lots of vege and vegan options
Very happy with the service and the food! Friendly Environment.
This restaurant is a must dining venue. The decor is awesome and food as well. This is a modern Japanese restaurant with great local, seafood options. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be going back for seconds.
Fine Japanese dining, have recommended on Facebook
Excellent food. Great service& atmosphere - just a little on the chilly side particularly near the door.
Great food and speedy service. We pre booked as we had an engagement post dinner and they catered for all our needs!! Amazing
We had a lovely meal at Panko Chan! The food was great, a nice mix of traditional Japanese dishes and some modern fusion food, and we were given some good advice about what to order. The service was friendly and attentive, but with a relaxed atmosphere. We were lucky to have the restaurant mostly all to ourselves as we went later on a Monday night, so it was extra quiet, but it’s usually pretty busy! We are looking forward to our next visit.
I loved the great service and the ambience was great - such great decor! Good menu and relaxed atmosphere! Definitely worth a visit.
Panko Coated Eggplant with Cheese Miso are way too much battered on it ,hardly taste the eggplant.
Vegetarian Kakiage (tempura vegetables) wasn't the traditional way which wasn't mentioned in the menu,it was really oily .
LAst a remainder on ordering Tea refill...it wasn't a refill..it will be charged as a new order .we had $21 on Tea.
Such a lovely warm place with a great atmosphere. It was a busy night when we went and we turned up super early, much earlier than our booked time. All staff were welcoming and good natured about our arrival nonetheless. The food was delicious and quite fast! An item was missed from our order but this was remedied quickly. It was quite buzzy but not too noisy-we could all still hold a conversation. We had a great night at Panko Chan and will definitely return!
Excellent food, very attentive and friendly staff. Would highly recommend!
Booked a table of 5. Were placed at a table for 4 with a stool st the end. We had to change it for a chair and found it very cramped. Was quite cold in the restaurant as well.
Food was great. Will visit again.
Brilliant food, service and atmosphere. We have been here 7 times now and will continue to go back.
Great food and great service. Easy booking.
Great addition to Kingston.
Always good food & service at panko chan. Can't fault them. Thanks.
The food is amazing, the service is great! 10/10. I would recommend! I will definitely be going back.
My Poke was stunning. Friends had the Calamari that was bland by comparison.
Great food, staff and atmosphere! Will be back again!
Panko Chan is a really good experience starting with professional advice on how to order Japanese food and navigate the menu. That may appear patronising but it isn't, Japanese food to this writer is a little mysterious. At first glance the menu is not extensive, which is something I prefer, but is becomes more so when you realise that several dishes can be cooked differently thereby expanding choice. This is where we came a little unstuck, inasmuch as we ordered a number of dishes with batter. Delicious batter I love. On reflection, it would have caused me less digestive grief later on had we varied dishes and ate less [delicious] batter! We live an learn. I hasten to add this was not the fault of the restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the eggplant, deep fried with miso and a cheese topping (and no batter). An extensive range of beer is available but as it was a cold night, we opted for wine. The whole experience was delightful and one to be repeated.
Great food in a lovely setting and the staff were excellent
Mostly, the food was satisfactory. The exception was the Sashimi which was very bland and at $18 overpriced. There was only one waitress and she was hard working but stretched to keep up as she was also serving take away customers. It was a cold evening and the heating was inadequate.
From the moment you walk in the door the decor says welcome and come in....relax and enjoy. The menu is refreshingly different with the possibility to try a varied mix of taster plates. Be careful how you order as there is quite a bit of battered food..panko! Panko is a style of batter/coating. If you prefer fresh then try one of the poke bowls. My favourite is a lightly tempura battered tufu with light soy and ginger. Delicious.
From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic. We got a run down on the menu and some of the favourite items. We loved that you can do share plates, so you get a taste of as much or as little as you like. The fish was melt in the mouth delicious and we loved the Lotus Root chips! This is one of my new favourite places to dine!
Excellent food again. Scallop spring roll a stand out.
First time at Panko Chan was an enjoyable occasion. Will definitely be back.
Food was good but meals came out at various times so we didn't really eat together .. perhaps as we were a group of eight we should have ordered platters to share and that would have worked better. Larger groups may benefit from a suggestion such as this being made when ordering? I understand that when a couple ordered their meal on another occasion the food came at the same time as normal.
It’a the best Japanese restaurant I have seen in Tasmania. The fried chicken is incredible which like the dishes I had in Japan. Some others are good as well. While, the sashimi is a little bit disappointing for me.
Great for kids, great variety and value definitely will go again
Great surprise and a welcome addition to Kingston Beach dining options.
Could not fault anything - menu is varied, quality of food and presentation excellent, decor very interesting and staff pleasant and helpful.
Panko Chan is just awesome. High quality seafood with a twist all served in inviting surroundings and in Kingston Beach!
