Really lovely and thoughtfully constructed menu, great wine selection and well designed space make Oster a great night out to celebrate, and now with their byo and steak nights- affordable for me to return more often!

One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. Always fabulous.

Oster is incredible! The food is so fresh, so flavoursome and so perfectly portioned! The waitstaff are Michelin Star restaurant trained and the two who served us had both lived in Italy as has Head Chef Nick. House made (delicious) cocktails were perfect, we enjoyed a martini and a negroni. There is also a very extensive wine list with lots of local wines to choose from as well as some international.
The interior is so beautiful with natural tones and textures making you feel very comfrortble and classy!
This is Italian fine dining, great for a special occasion! We enjoyed fresh Sydney oysters and incredibly fluffy sourdough to start (house made bread of course), picked vegetables and cured meat. Followed by main which was house made pasta (the ragu and the tortellini are both so amazing and authentic Italian dishes local to their origins as our waiter explained). A juicy steak cooked to perfection and a side of roast potato's in butter and chives (seriously the best potato's I've ever been served) and desert was light and fluffy fresh profiteroles (an assortment of custard and chocolate fillings) and ice cream with roast apricots and crumble just the perfect palet cleanser and so fresh with the combination of flavours and contrasting textures! We will definately be back at Oster again soon and will be reccomending it to everyone. What a great experience!

We came for lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon.
The place looks beautiful, rustic but elegant.
We had the lunch menù, the lamb was divine.
Smart local wine list, well structured.
We’ll definitely be back.

This was our first timing dining at Oster but from the minute we walked in we felt like old friends. We had the Chef’s special that included scallops, steak tartare, a ravioli dish and wagyu beef followed by a delicious dessert. We will definitely be back!

Really wanted to enjoy this restaurant. Unfortunately it missed the mark a bit with some of the food. Negroni was a bit bitter ?Was the vermouth forgotten? Zucchini pasta entree was a bit bland - the dish felt a bit experimental. My wifes lamb was excellent but the market fish was a little overwhelmed by the bitter side vegetables.

Not sure what went wrong but i presume there is some experimentation over the summer break.

The restaurant manager was really good to discuss some of these concerns with us and we look forward to dining there again

The oysters was not very fresh(either pr-shucked or stored for days), dry inside. Otherwise are good, a little bit lacking in service but overall was a good experience.
