Oriental Tea House - Chapel St
Love the food here, always a pleasure coming. It’s easy, tasty and good value for money. Highly recommend 🙌🏻
Absolutely amazing food and such a cool vibe! The Valentine’s Day special they had set up was so amazing and we were able to try a range of dumplings and a lovely main meal! Such a fun question game to play as well
Amazing dinner, will be going back again and again
Took our 1 year old here and it was great. Little one loved the food and we were able to sit down and have a nice bottle of wine. Food was good and service was great and fast.
Food great just make sure you get your dumpling hot, otherwise they are just not up to scratch. Service is amazing! Noise levels are out of control. Too many venues are not thinking about the customer experience and making a venue look good but have no noise absorbing features.
We had a family siblings reunion dinner for 5 noisy girls, and we had a great evening. We chose the Feasting menu at $45.00 pp and it was really worth while and the food was delicious as good value for money. Adam looked after us and he was attentive and great. I chose the venue as we had our staff Xmas function there in December 2019.
We had a great dinner at the Oriental Tea House. The service was quick, the wait staff very helpful and the food was very very tasty!
Was very noisy. Food was tasty but not a huge range of gluten free (no mains). Enjoyed gf dumplings.
Good service, nice tea, nice atmosphere inside and outside. The small dishes were delicious - the main dishes were a little too gloopy and sweet (crispy fish in chilli sauce, aubergine and tofu) but still tasty.
Birthday dinner. Easy to book via open table. Table was ready upon arrival. Food full of flavour and presented aesthetically. Good value for money. Unfortunate about the public holiday surcharge. Restaurant kept cool and staff insightful and courteous. Recommend buying a few dishes and sharing them around to get the most experience of all the appealing food on offer.
Excellent service and atmosphere, however very disappointing vegetarian and vegan options. Especially since the reason I went was because I received an email specifically about the vegan yumcha. Very bland and repetitive dishes on offer which is such a shame as I loved oriental tea house before I went vego! Will try again in the future so hopefully there will be better variety and flavour on offer ✨
The food was superb! We will definitely come back for another round.
My daughter and I love yum cha at oriental tea house in chapel street. The staff were very accommodating and the food delicious as usual. We will go back again soon!
Our neighborhood family friendly eatery. Love the food, wine, staff and ambience. We have our own table there!
Great food, service was mainly good but to begin with not a smooth experience with a larger group for dinner it felt like we were being pushed to do the banquet deal when we had a lot of small eaters in the group. Otherwise it was a lovely night, food was all excellent and staff friendly. Good at splitting bills too.
Excellent food and value but my main came out 20mins after the first one had been brought out so was eating my meal whilst everyone else's plates had been cleared was enough to cost a perfect 5 star rating. Favourite Restuarant though.
Very quick between order and food delivery. Almost too quick. Some food not hot, but still very tasty.
Classic Chinese food no fuss and not fancy but typical of a restaurant I would rate 14/20. We had some prawn dumplings the Peking duck and a chicken dish with the special Fried rice - all good
Really great food everytime we visit, lovely service and a beautiful tea and teapot range to shop! Definelty worth a visit if your in the area!
Food amazing as always
Raspberry mojito tea pop awesome
Will be back !! Xx
Incredible food! Would definitely recommend to everyone!
Beautiful food and superb service and attention to detail :)
I went to the vegan yum cha evening. The service was incredible and the food was delicious.
My only wishes were:
a) that they balanced the timing of certain dishes. It was pretty much only dumplings in the first 30 mins. It got a bit boring. I filled up on dumplings and then didn't have any space for the rest of the night. It would have been great to have a variety of foods coming around, not just dumplings. The table beside me turned down multiple dishes, saying they were waiting for something that was not a dumpling. They were waiting quite some time for more variation.
b) that there was a list of the foods featured that night. I heard a few other tables asking for this and it would have been great to see what was coming too. I tried to wait around to see if anything would be coming out that I really wanted, but I was SO full that I ended up leaving before the entire 18 plates had been released. I wish I'd been able to see what food was coming because I filled up on some dishes I didn't really care for, and then didn't have space for things I would have loved to try.
Went to their vegan 2.0 yum cha event. I felt that the taste of the dishes and the options available were designed more for the westerners. Not saying that it wasn't tasty, but just not the flavors I expected for authentic Chinese food.
I probably won't come again unless another function with a group of other people.
Fun, funky, fresh, great drinks, great service, easy location
Will go again.
We have been a number of times to this address and the city address and both never fail to deliver. We were there to celebrate my partners birthday with her family. The food and the service were outstanding as usual
Really delicious food and great atmosphere! Really enjoyed birthday dinner here.
Great vegan options
Will be back - and back - and back
Service staff were very attentive to us even though it was quite a busy time. The food was great, (my fave are the chilli wagyu beef!) although the spring rolls were quite oily. I make a 40min trip to chapel st just to come here, will definitely be back! Thanks
GreT casual place for dinner with family. Wine list great not over the top like many places
Yes but not in a large group with restricted menu.
We had 1x veg, 1x gluten free and the large group (8) made the menu far too restricting and boring.
when i rang to confirm booking and ask about gluten free. was told lots of gluten free but nothing about restricted menu....i would have cancelled or booked 2 tables of 4 to order from your usually lovely menu.
We loved the look of the restaurant as we walked in and the food that followed was so tasty! I’m a vegan and was pleased to find a full plant based menu to choose from. It was also so reasonably priced. We will definitely be back and have already recommended to everyone we’ve seen since!
Great food and service, just would have liked the windows closed as the cigarette smoke came right into the restaurant (we were at the very back as well) and reached us.
I understand that this might be important information to pass on given the food/smoking laws.
I thought the serving were quite small and pricey. The service was excellent though.
Great yum cha options. Good service.
Awesome food and great price
Great food, however better descriptions should be given on the menu. The prawn and pork rolls on a bed of vermicelli were not as expected (soft and soggy vs crispy).
Great everyday Chinese restaurant with great vegetarian options
Thought the value was poor with three piece dim sum dishes @$11 each and cocktails @ $20. Felt more like hotel pricing than a restaurant.
