Great experience and always great sushi. The desserts are amazing!
Onyx is expensive. However, I haven't had a desert like theirs in years! And the presentation was outstanding!Very unique!
Nice interior design. Food tastes good. Service is good, too.
This is our second time and it was simply amazing! Order the Omakaze you will not be disappointed.
Nothing special food mediocre and actually sushi fish not all edible. Very chewy and felt like grocery store cut than fine dining or sushi restaurant. Scored points for fresh wasabi grated at the table per request only otherwise not even offered. Janos chi was not edible neither was their yellowtail. Lacking ambiance and quality of ingredients the restaurant had prior to their remodel
My boyfriend and I visited on Valentines Day & to celebrate my birthday. There was a pre fixe menu that was not advertised anywhere despite the other hotel restaurants listing theirs so we anticipated the normal dinner which looked great. Upon being seated we were given a set menu with no price listed. The sushi and sashimi courses were super disappointing and kind of ruined the rest of the meal for us. Especially disappointing was how expensive it was for a meal neither of us liked. We offered feedback to the manager who was very nice and apologetic regarding the experience. We loved it before the renovations so if we return hoping the food will be how it was before!
Service, food, wine list, all impeccable.
Renovated Onyx was smaller (more intimate as the hostess described it) than pre-renovation with fewer booth/tables and a large 'community' table in the center. This latter seating may not be preferred for an intimate dinner but great if you want to meet new people or eavesdrop on your neighbor's conversation. If you do not prefer communal dining then I'd suggest making this known when you make the reservation.
The food, the service, and the atmosphere (we had a booth) were excellent as expected. The food prices were in line with expectations but the drink prices seemed a little steep for what we got---great tasting but for the price I expected a better pre-dinner buzz.
Overall an excellent experience and "we'll be back".
Very..... very..... slooooowwwwwww.
We love going to Onyx, the feel of a vacation. Much smaller restaurant now, makes it a bit louder and now they have a smaller menu as well but all the same really enjoyed our evening. Service could have been a tentative.
The food wasn’t as I expected. The seating area was so small that we had a hard time to fit in there. I don’t like the new look of the restaurant. I won’t go back there again and I don’t recommend either. Nothing is the same with that beautiful hotel.
We went on the 1st night of DineLA.
I did not have high expectations but was pleasantly surprised! The quality and taste of food were excellent and were not even tiny servings. The $39/person was definitely worth it.
We will come back even if it wasn't on a DineLA week.
Nice date night place. So great to have an authentic sushi place in the area.
The New Year's Eve venue was fantastic. Each course was brought at a nice pace. I never felt rushed and the food temperature was perfect. This was definitely a memorable dinner!
They brought champagne and special desert to add to our anniversary celebration! Wonderful
Food and people!
We loved the experience at ONYX. The service was exceptional and the quality of the food was very high. The price was a bit high what with it being at a resort but we will be coming back!
We have enjoyed Onyx in the past and was considered a favorite restaurant for self proclaimed sushi snobs. It’s actually inedible. The fish was caught wrong and was over priced for the quality. We will not be going again which makes me very sad.
Amazing food. The best Sushi I had in CA. It is expensive, so can’t be a routine, and they close too early (9:30 on sat night). Suggest to manager to include reverse happy hour (like 25-50% off from 9-11 pm) to foster local repeat customers.
The sushi was disappointing. The seabass was tasty. Prices were high
This might've been the best sushi that I've had. The chef is amazing and such a nice guy. Try and get seated near him. It's such good food.
Our server Ocean was amazing! thank you so much for the best birthday experience!
It being at the four seasons and the price it was not very good at all. I could have gone somewhere else and spent $80 for better food instead of $160
I’m not sure what happened since the last time I was there. It used to be beautiful and energetic....it was awful, sorry to say. The food menu is the third of its original size and choices were very limited. I had ordered the lobster ramen which I couldn’t eat....so fishy tasting. I had a group of
8 and we were completely underwhelmed 😴
Solid service and meal. Good sushi. Very small choice of nonsushi items but they were good.
It was our 1st time here. They have a beautiful scenic view of the fountain but it blacked by a poorly constructed wall not good. The food was great teh waiter was great as well the sushi chef was off and decided not to make it the way I asked, but a short conversation and he saw it my way and the rest of the sushi after that was spot on. The have a crazy scientific dessert made using liquid nitro that you have to try. I will be back again.
we have always loved onyx however, this time was our first time since it has been re-done. Sat night, not a lot of people in the restaurant, service was very slow. Our waiter was running around like he was so busy. Not to sure what he was doing but wasn't paying much attention to us. Sushi was good. Menu got small and missing some of our favorites.....
I don’t know what they bothered renovating when the food is just not good or worth the money. The food items we used to like are now off the menu and what we ordered was bland. Thanks but no thanks.
Service was good—-food just ok...best choices are the eel and the yellow tail—manga roll was terrible
Such a wonderful setting, great service and yummy food!
Loved the food but the people serving were the best part.
We sat at the bar. It was really nice.
Onyx had changed. There are only three hot entries on the menu and they were out of the miso cod so we only had a choice of two. It is now focused on traditional sushi etc. The service was excellent and while we enjoyed what we had, we're not rushing back.
Used to be much better with the old style and menu
This is our first time returning to the new and much improved Onyx at the Four Seasons. Wow what an improvement! The restaurant is smaller and more intimate with a fresh and welcoming Japanese decor. Japanese culture is weaved into the entire restaurant concept from the moment you walk in the door. The staff were welcoming and attentive and the food was super fresh! We enjoyed the dream box where we got to experience 9 different types of fresh sushi, a great way to experience different fish. The sushi rolls were delicious and super flavorful and traditional. You won't find tempura or cream cheese in this sushi restaurant! They even freshly grate wasabi from a wasabi root right a the table! We enjoyed two wonderful desserts, the cherry ice cream in mocci was so delicious and refreshing and we also had the Japanese "kit kat" which is great for chocolate lovers. This was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. We will definitely be back. Thank you Onyx team for a wonderful evening!
First timers at Onyx. Great small restaurant tucked inside the Four Seasons hotel. Service was impeccable. Food was delicious. The timing of the whole meal was perfect, not too rushed, not to slow. Staff is very friendly and polite. Highly recommended.
Sushi done right with hand grounded fresh wasabi. Delicious
Nothing like what it used to be.
