This makes the most of nature’s abundance by using techniques that for centuries have prolonged nature’s bounty through processes like drying, smoking, salting, fermenting, pickling and candying.
Tasty food but quite heavy, not many light options. Some more lean protein, more veges (their pickled veg was amazing - that should be a side dish on its own, just needs more veg, less olives). The housemade bread was beautiful. The octopus was tough unfortunately but the fava bean mix it came with was lovely. Housemade lemonade was very refreshing. The wait staff was delightful, very helpful and attentive.
Unfortunately we were really disappointed with our experience. The food was nice but nothing special. We had a drink each and 3-4 sharing plates but didn't stay for a main or dessert. We were seated upstairs which was really noisy, the room isn't designed well acoustically. Our waitress was really nice but there was a lack of leadership on the floor, no one kind of overseeing things. One of the waiters dropped a glass which smashed all over the floor. We were visiting Melbourne for our anniversary so were hoping for a better experience. After visiting Bar Lourhina the night before, we couldn't compare the two. Bar Lourhina was incredible, amazing food, service and ambience.
Food not particularly tasty, slow service, clearly understaffed
Thank you, had some co-workers from out of town and it was a great place to take them out to dinner. Service was great and our waiter was super friendly, relaxed and extremely helpful! Food was delicious
Lovely food, really nice dry negroni, gorgeous service. We opted for the share menu - just bring us food! It was a bit tight to fit in for pre theatre - we should have ordered less since the other alternative was gobble faster. We didn’t fit our dessert in, so it was nicely packaged for take away and we snacked quietly mid
- production. Everything was gorgeous except one weird lamb braise with vegetables. It was dry, gristly, fatty and unpleasant. So odd- there was heaps of food, we wouldn’t have missed it and brought down the impression created by everything else.
We do not come into the city very often but have made Ombra our place to go to celebrate our anniversary. Come to think of it, we probably only come into the city now once a year specifically for this reason. We love it there. The food is always fresh and amazing and the staff are some of the best we have ever encountered that really make our time there enjoyable.
We look forward to coming back again next year.
Hidden little oasis with high quality food in the CBD. Price is equivalent to others of similar quality that are louder and more crowded. Highly recommend for lunch meetings, dates etc.
Overrated. The meat was fatty, oily and not much of it. Expensive for what you get. The plus - Staff were lovely, informative & attentive.
Amazing food!!! Super impressed, service was great- very friendly and genuine. Can't wait to come back :).
What a great venue for dinner. The service was excellent, the food great and the ambience fun. It was a great place for our group to go and would highly recommend it
Not sure why we haven't been here before but we will definitely come back. Food was very good and we were well looked after. But if you just want a drink and some share plates then pop in downstairs before a show and enjoy!
Just beautiful food made from quality sources, mixed with ambience and great service!
As I am from Perth I always keep coming back here. the young lady who looked after us was very friendly and very accommodating with taking our photos. who spent time talking to us and listening to how much we like Garum in Perth as well. she also highly recommended trying grill next door. the food was tasty and of generous portion sizes. overall a wonderful experience
Amazing food! Great place to catch up with friends for a quiet dinner upstairs.
The Sunday roast and $12 Aperol spritz was a huge hit :)
My out of town friend said the Melanzane/Ricotta pizza was the best pizza she's ever had!
Second time we’ve had a family gathering here. Great food, staff & ambience.
Orginally seated upstairs near a large group but staff happy to move is downstairs where it was quieter. We enjoyed the special entree which was a pork with crisps to scoop up the mixture..very tasty. Both mains were excellent and shared a dessert which was awesome.
Authentic Italian, servers were knowledgeable and helpful. Great food - unique and flavourful we really liked the ragu and lamb shank. Price reflected quality.
Interesting menu with beautiful flavours and very good service. Friendly and well informed staff. Brought friends from London who were very impressed.
The Italian waitress was spectacular
great wine list, tasty and interesting main courses and comfortable ambience. Highly recommended.
Ordinary food. Disappointed.
Not worth the price.
Won’t be back.
Delicious food and great service in a nice atmosphere
Lovely restaurant, staff very helpful and friendly. Food was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend the gnocchi and pizza
Great food and excellent customer service. Will come back to try other dishes.
Not only was the food wonderful, the service was amazing- it absolutely made our experience. Will continue to come here every time I am in Melbourne. Thank you!
We had great food, great wine and a great waiter. Well definitely be back soon.
Terribly slow service for both drinks and food, and suspect would have even slower had we not complained. Had we been offered a discount on the bill I would not have written this review.
Had a delicious lunch with friends from out of town. Gnocchetti was superb and porcetta went down well. Wine was delicious as were desserts (fig tart and chocolate mousse).
Waiters were attentive and chatty. Lovely. Quiet enough to have a good chat.
Great service, good wine, excellent food selection - salami selection, kingfish, zucchini flowers . Perfect for a pre-theatre dinner among friends. Recommended.
Excellent por belly with crispy skin balanced with sweet onion and fennel.good value for 2 courses and a glass of wine
We had dinner for two on Friday night. Both had pizza which were very good. Wine was overpriced. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Was one of the best dine out experiences I have had. The staff were attentive and extremely professional. The food was all presented perfectly and flavours were perfect for each dish. Would recommend anyone to stop in before a show or even for a quick drink
We love Ombra and have been a number of times. The music was so very loud on this visit that we could not have a conversation at all. Mentioned noise level to staff who said they’d turn it down but did not. Music in restaurants should add to ambiance and not overwhelm it.
Best pizza I’ve ever had, great waiters and lovely atmosphere.
Very enjoyable experience. Will be back for more I'm sure.
Picturesque and cosy intimate restaurant with friendly helpful staff and stunning moderately priced tapas as well as more conventional main courses. Great wine list to choose from.
Went for a birthday dinner and 1 guest’s meal was forgotten. This is disappointing.
Overpriced for food.
The Sunday roast was excellent, both in quality and value. Will definately be going back soon.
