very nice place in temple bar, good diner and personnel super
Good beers and wine, excellent food, great service, good value, super relaxed atmosphere. No hesitation in recommending, definitely looking forward to coming back.
I have used this restaurant for 30+ years and, through my business, sent hundreds of visitors to Dublin to dine there. I found it an excellent establishment until standards started to slip two, or maybe three years ago. I'm unsure if the management changed or what happened, but it's not the same place I used to visit regularly.
To enter a restaurant and have bottles of wine on the table with handwritten signs saying only "100 Euro" must be almost unique. I like a bottle of wine with dinner and I don't mind paying a bit more for as decent bottle, but trying to talk guests into 100 Euro bottles of wine is a bit much. Also on the tables were bottles of wine at the "bargain" price of only 65 Euro ! I have never been in any restaurant anywhere in the world that puts wine on the tables like this; the fact that the prices are significantly above average is to me unacceptable. I have to assume they are trying to convince visitors the wine offers great value ??
For my second successive visit, I ordered a porterhouse steak and was served a fatty piece of beef that was not of the standard you would expect in even an average pub/restaurant; so bad the steak knife was incapable of cutting through it. There are very many good restaurants in Dublin (many a short distance from this one) offering great service and food a reasonable prices. This place needs to look after their customers. The last time I thought it was just a bad night and didn't bother too much as I knew the standards of the restaurant. However, for it to happen again, for the second successive visit, leaves me wondering where on earth they get the beef from.
Not so long ago, you had to book tables well in advance at this restaurant to guarantee a table as it was packed every night at weekends in particular. On my most recent visit, on a busy Saturday evening, there was nobody else dining. I wonder why ???
Era chiuso nonostante la prenotazione confermata. Veramente spiacevole come esperienza.
The booking was not honoured the restaurant was closed !!! We arrived exactly for the booking time that was confirmed and they just told us it was closed .... no reason given , very poor experience and no help at all no apologies zero service and clearly we were annoying them... to avoid !
Gogarty's is a family tradition when we're in Dublin. The food is always great, the service is good, and the atmosphere is exactly the same, which is what you want in a classic public house in Dublin's historic Temple Bar.
Upstairs dining was very quiet. Server was rude. Did not allow to just order soup or a starter, had to purchase an overpriced main entree. If you go here, make sure to eat in the bar area which was a fun atmosphere.
A brilliant atmospheric place in the heart of Dublin with fantastic Irish music and lovely food
The top floor restaurant was quiet and pleasant. Service was excellent and the food was delicious! The Musical Pub Crawl starts at this Pub, so eat here first before the Crawl.
Large portions of deliciousness, especially the Irish Stew
Wonderful service in the 3rd floor restaurant
Excellent food. Great portions. You won’t leave hungry. Ask for the Guinness Bread!!
Very good restaurant. We really enjoy our dinner.
And when you're finished with eating you can go downstairs to have some drinks and enjoy traditional music.
Awful experience! The waiters were rude from the very moment we entered.
When we asked the bill they even requested a tip saying it was by law while clearly this is not true in Ireland!
I will never go back again!
Wonderful meal and good service would definitely recommend
Service was very poor, streak had to be send back, don’t even pour you water etc, not what I expected
Great place for an "authentic" Dublin pub experience. I use the word authentic because there feels like there is a bit of showmanship, but actual Dubliners are in the crowd. Live music in the pub and the restaurant on the second floor had piped in Irish music, not to say that's a bad thing. If you can, while visiting Dublin stop here as well as other pubs in the Temple district.
Great place to start our pub crawl. Good food. Great people.
What a gem of a place in the heart of Temple Bar!!!! Great food(especially in their Upstairs restaurant and utterly incredible music by live musicians downstairs. We are a couple of professional music educators who know quality when we hear it. We went twice and heard two completely different groups that were virtuosic!
Oliver St. John Gogarty provides a great experience for the new traveler to Dublin and, like us, the 5th time returnee. The third floor restaurant offers fine dining that is delicious and with a fine selection of wines and great service. The second floor offers traditional music while you can enjoy your pint and great pub food. And the first floor offers music and tv while you enjoy the revelry.
They accommodated our large party. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was authentic.
Your waiter told me I had not booked when I had booked. He was passive aggressive and make comments about our food portions. My friend had strawberries for dessert and when she asked for sugar he committed loudly WOW you want sugar with all that! Disappointed as I brought my French friend and mum but it was embarrassing.
Nice Irish pub with a fun atmosphere. We were there over St. Patrick’s weekend so pretty insane but the food is nice and they manage to accommodate people cheerfully and quickly. Well known and deservedly so.
Cogimos el turno de las 22 h para cenar por que nos dieron la opción pero una vez estábamos cenando todo eran prisa por que acabasemos se notaba en el personal
