Excellent set price meal!
Amazing service and great atmosphere for a Saturday night jam!!!! Well done Max!!!!
We arrived and it took awhile to be seated but that’s understandable as it was a very busy Saturday night. Food did take awhile even though we asked for our food together, and it’s a shame we ended up having to leave before mains as we were in a rush for the theatre. All in all good food (from what we had) and lovely ambiance. Would go again in the future.
Really excellent pre theatre dinner. Food fabulous, staff charming and attentive. Great buzzy atmosphere even at 5pm ! Highly recommend
Very loud and noisy setting. Very little for vegetarians to choose from the menu.
From when you walk through the doors of this establishment you are greeted with warmth. Both from the staff and the ambience of the room. Three prominent sections are available for you to be seated at including a balcony section. This gave the space an open and inviting feel. Booths scattered around and clever decor to ooze elegance. We were seated at table 30 Wall as stated on our bill, this was a table placed on a awkward tucked away position that the waiters seemed to omit from their attention due to it's lack of proper lighting. Romantic in a sense but inconvenient for when you're trying to segment food on your platter.
When we were tended to the staff were friendly, smiling and allowed ample time to for us to decide option. As well as asking for allergies and dietary specifics. The value for the items are understandable for the location, experience and portion sizes. Ranging from £13-24 for the mains.
We were pleased with the vegetarian options but surprised at the singular choice of cider. The menu may need some slight reconfiguration, but overall it was able to cater for a wide range of appetites and diets.
Though our food and drink arrived promptly - despite it being a busy hour - the water that was offered to us from being seated didn't come until half way through our meal. We asked 3 seperate staff for it but to no avail. This water was much needed as the chicken was on the dry side of cooked.
As the meal came to an end we struggled to catch the waiter's line of sight to ask for the bill. Taking almost 20 minutes to ask and then we waited another 20 minutes to receive the bill. This brasserie accepts payments of card and cash, and adds 12.5% service charge.
Conclusively, Old Compton Brasserie deserves my recommendation but you will need to be forgiving during busy hours. We are planning to return in the near future to compare the experiences - so an update is due to arrive soon.
extremely noisy, waiter was busy constantly, space was cramped and little ambiance. Food was decent but we simply ordered steak and chips so it's pretty hard to mess that up. Me and my partner we're given different menu's at first, they couldn't provide a basic peppercorn sauce with my steak etc. I was average...better off going to the Bills in Soho
Lively venue, a bit noisy for us, but excellent, prompt service and we enjoyed the pork belly with creamed tomatoes and apple sauce. Apple crumble delicious.
The set menu deal was amazing value, the atmosphere was buzzing and the decor is gorgeous. The food was fine but for the price, great! The problem was the service, because they were trying to get in so many people we were a table of 7 squashed onto a table for 6, we had to ask for water, napkins, we had to keep trying to get attention to order drinks, the wine was opened without asking to try it, one of the deserts arrived after everyone else had finished and the waiter didn’t even wait around to deliver his apology properly. The bill was then wrong and when the waiter questioned why we hadn’t paid enough and I explained it was the tip that was short, he didn’t even question it or apologise!
Place is nice but way too loud. Food is overpriced as portions are tiny. Service is bad, my friend requested soda water with a squeeze of fresh lime and she was given a bottle of sparkling water and sliced limes separately like saying “squeeze them yourself”. I mean you can’t be ££££ when it comes to food prices but £ when it comes to service, things don’t work that way...
The baked Camembert was epic!
Here for lunch to celebrate a friends birthday. The lunch special with a glass of wine amazing value. We had the salmon and white wine. Staff exceptional
Not impressive, especially the service(!).- extremely slow and disorganised. We booked the offer with unlimited Aperol for £20, however the cocktails were either watered down or with not much aperol. The food was OK. Not rushing back.
Very good value. Little bit noisy but fine. Looking forward to returning
Great location, fantastic buzz. Food was just what we all needed on a Sunday after a Saturday night session. Had requested a high chair upon booking. Had to ask a further two times once there for a high chair for our son.
The service was extremely rude.
The vegan burger was fine.
Horrendous service! Food was okay but not worth it.
Very good deal and the food and service was very good for the price.
My friends and I went for the bottomless brunch option. It was a fun experience and your glass was never empty. The service was both fun and attentive. The food came out cool and was ok but not amazing. Still we had lots of fun and I would recommend as a place to go for a nice brunch.
The food was amazing and the service was really quick. Cocktails were wonderful too! Well worth what you pay and a must-go-to if you’re in Soho!
Good food great service overall value for money
Brilliant evening. Great food and really well priced for this great central location.
Had the 3-course OpenTable menu, seated at the bar. Great value, well-presented, satisfying meal, with a choice of 3 in each course. Service prompt, courteous, friendly. Atmosphere more pub than brasserie, but everyone seemed to be having a good time & I wasn't put off by it.
Always great food, service and atmosphere. Never been disappointed.
The Open Table deal of 3 courses and a Prosecco is exceptionally good value.
The restaurant was perfect for a first or second date with loud music and an interesting scene. However, for a dinner date the food was mediocre, the service was slow and it is hard to hear your companions. Would recommend for a cocktail date.
We had a wonderful evening at Old Compton Brasserie, we had the meal deal (3 courses & glass of prosecco) and it was great value for money. Starters were quite small, but other than that everything was cooked perfectly. The staff really made the night even better, our waiter Duncan was really attentive and friendly and we had a lovely conversation with Jubi who was working on the door. As it's also a bar, it's quite busy and noisy, but has a great vibe. I'd definitely recommend and will be going again.
Floggers / bloggers with large flashlights photographing food and drinks throughout our entire visit. Good for promoting location, but really irritating for other guests. One of the staff came to apologise, but would have been better to move people with large imposing flashlights to another section of the restaurant to be less intrusive to other guests. Rest of the evening was good except for the environment and atmosphere that was really disappointing as a result of this intrusion
Too loud, tables too close together, inedible food, fantastic waiter service. Overall just not worth it when there are a million better places close by
Food was lovely. Quick to seat us however one we had ordered a drink and main we were left. No one offered a desert menu or asked if we wanted any more drinks nor were we offered water for the table.
In the end we got the bill and left and got a drink elsewhere. Shame as it started off so promising.
We enjoy specially the food. Delicious! The waiters are very kind too. The place is nice and the atmosphere fun and cheerful.
The single negative point was the level of the music. Too high! We asked the DJ to turn it down but he didn't. We could barely hear ourselves!
All the staff were very attentive, especially our waitress(s) and the maitre d. The food was good value when one considers the Geo location. All in all an experience I wouldn't hesitate to try again.
Very loud so hard to hear people at our table, service was poor with cutlery missing, food we had to chase. Probably good if you are drinking and partying but not for a nice meal out to chat to friends.
If you're looking for a lively place to eat with mates, then this is a great place. Seemed to be lots of hen parties and birthdays, but the food was good and service was great.
Great afternoon, brilliant atmosphere, music and entertainment excellent. Will definitely go back .
Sebastian was the best server ever! We had an absolute ball and didn't want it to end.
We attended the Drag Brunch on Saturday and had an absolute ball. The food was great, and the entertainment was just fantastic. Top tip - don't get there as it starts like we did. It takes a while for everyone to get warmed up and we ended up having to give up our table just as it was getting going. Looking at Insta stories afterwards, it looked like we missed the best bits but we still had a fab time and I'd definitely go back.
Have to say, the service wasn't amazing....I think our waiter was having an off day sadly, but everyone else seemed lovely.
This was my second time at Old Compton Brasserie. It has a really nice atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. The service was a little slow and we were waiting about 20 minutes for our table but the maître d’ was amazing and offered us a round of drinks on the house because of the delay (pity I was doing dry January but they at least serve Nanny State which is delicious!)
The food was lovely - I had the fish and chips which was well cooked. Very crispy batter and great tartare sauce! I’ll definitely be back.
So noisy you can’t hear a thing anyone says. Music really loud so may appeal to some but impossible to hear any conversation
Food was good but they changed the menu so choice is not as good as before. Service was very good, the only downside is not paying attention to details so we have to ask for cutlery every time.
