O'Brien's Oyster Bar & Seafood Tavern
Our family was there for the firework in Annapolis in the 4th of July. The location was great but the foods were terrible. The mashed potatoes were made from instant box and the salmon and the rice was too sweet to eat. The food was overpriced for the quality of each dish. The crab dip tasted like cheep cheese dip. We will never go back there again.
Was sat at 4:15. Waited until 4:35 to see a waitress. Never saw one. We got up and left. Terrible service.
We had a great dinner at O’Briens! Our server was excellent, as were the stuffed shrimp and Mac and cheese with Backfin Crab! My Orange Crush was one of the best I’ve ever enjoyed. The only downside of O’Briens are the acoustics. It’s very loud (especially if the clientele are boisterous) to have table conversation. But if you don’t mind the noise, everything else is fabulous-including the location!
In all fairness out waitress clearly did not want to be there. After rolling her eyes she would ask a question like oh where are you from but then look away because she still did not really want to be there - the question was to cover up the eye roll. Drinks were overpriced and did not seem made correctly. Salad came out with out protein - protein took so long we passed. Other servers seemed great but honestly did not live up to the hype at all. Food was just ok and again I will pay for an expensive drink if it is good. Not worth the time or money at all.
We had a wonderful time, great service, and really good food!
Group of friends
Main course arrived before first course was finished. Clean up after guests, especially on the floor was lax.
This second visit at the restaurant was a disappointment. It looks like the staff was overwhelmed because it was fathers’ day Sunday. There were many errors in our orders and our server disappeared periodically. Some members of our groups received their drinks ‘coffee’ and food very late. My own order was correct but was a major disappointment. I ordered ‘steak and eggs’ but the steak looked pitiful. It could have been an order from Deny’s. I was a return customer but the majority of our group were first time guests and will not be back.
Great experience for a birthday celebration! Drinks and food was amazing!
Ran out of brunch foods. Less than stellar service.
Fish was dry & hard. Had to send it back. Could only eat the fries
My partner and I decided to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather while eating out dinner. We arrived at 6:45 on a Monday and we were seated immediately. Within 2 minutes, our wonderful server greeted us and we placed an order for drinks and apps (cream of crab soup, Chesapeake mussels, oysters and calamari) since we only had 15 minutes until HH was over. Our drinks took a little while since the bartender was backed up but they were worth the wait. We then ordered our main dishes (crab cake dinner and fish & chips). The soup came out first and then the mussels, oysters, and calamari. The oysters tasted strange and had a cloudy appearance. The calamari and soup were good but the mussels were awful. They had no flavor and looked like they'd been reheated or something. The bread that came with them was so hard you could barely bite into it. Fish and chips were soggy but tasted alright. Crab cakes were really good! Overall, the quality of the seafood is not worth the price.
Mother’s Day was amazing. Our service and drinks were awesome
Service was fantastic! Food was amazing at a reasonable price!
The waitress was very friendly. Even though she placed the incorrect appetizer order for me hef apology was greatly appreciated. The food was good and tasty. Will definitely revisit.
We were outside…
Very busy Saturday night…
Noisy music nearby
Food only ok
We were disappointed in our meals. The service and ambiance was very nice
This is definitely a tourist spot. The food is decent and the wait staff is great. The prices are pretty high for mediocre food. They don’t have very many vegetarian options which most pubs do. Great people but just ok food.
The restaurant was n army empty and we waited 30 mins for drinks and an hour for food
The check in process with microphones created an atmosphere that the patrons were on an assembly line. Manger at one point was getting after servers. The soup was cold, waitress couldn’t explain difference in oysters. Alcoholic drinks were bit mixed properly and the wine ordered had tainted.
I was served old caesar salad with the corresponding results.
We had an amazing dinner. Seafood galore - we had shrimp, clams and scallops. So good!
Started off a little shakey b/c our waiter left after giving us water and took a long time to come back.. however he made up for it. His service after that was excellent, he was attentive without being overly attentive, and he really made our bottomless mimosas amazing!! The food was delicious and the price was very very affordable.
I will be visiting again and again, for sure.
Really good food. I enjoyed the mussels and my son’s filet was very good.
Easter Sunday dinner. We wanted seafood, so we headed to Annapolis. Beautiful weather, so the downtown area was packed and buzzing. Luckily, there is multi-level garage parking available. The street side tables were too busy for us, so we were led to the private patio. It was the perfect place to eat delicious food snd drink. Service was great; not overbearing. We will definitely return.
They advertised a patio, but we sat on the street (which was fine, but then don't advertise a patio). The only heater was not working. We had minimal service due to being outside and long waits for our waiter. They gave us old menus as they couldn't find the current ones. The online menu was outdated and we were disappointed they did not have the food items we came for. Burger and MD crab soup were great, mussels were very meh. Experience was fine but not great, and wouldn't go back.
A few issues with our order but they were quick to correct. Would definitely come back.
We went for date night. The food was bland. The waitress was nice. I was expecting a little more especially since it was restaurant week.
Both oyster and mussels were not tasty - very disappointing for Annapolis!
My friend and I went here for BRUNCH! The food was amazing and our waitress was very attentive.
Horrible service, forgot several items and food was bland.
Waitress was serving in two different rooms, have to go get her several times. Separate server served salad, but forgot dressing. Took so long to get salad. Meal came one minute after salad. Stuffed fish was bland and not hot enough. Place was only half full so crowd was not the problem.
Post covid so I think the staff haven’t quite scaled up to demand. Seated on time, staff weren’t aware of the restaurant week promotion, the restaurant also changed some of the options from the website as well but didn’t update page. Somewhat disappointed. Food arrived slow, possibly communication delays with kitchen staff; others who seated after us got food first ; but also can point to post covid scaleup issues that should go away over time
Great experience from the time we arrived until the time we left.
We had the 3 course meal for restaurant week. We didn’t enjoy it. The crab soup had lump crab but had a funny after taste. The mahi-mahi was bland, the creme brûlée was cold. The only thing that was good with the creme brûlée was the top caramelized layer it was done good. The only good item was the side order of oysters we purchased in addition to the pre-fix meal. Oh yeah our 4 year old son loved the fries!
The food here was exceptional and the staff was super nice qnd accommodating! I was, however, very loud and it seemed we could have to yell to speak with each other even though we were at the same table.
Excellent food, drinks and service.
Crab soup, both cream of crab and Maryland crab, was superb.
For the entree, I ordered crab stuffed shrimp. The lump crab was wonderful but the shrimp were like shoe leather.
Mashed potatoes were very plain-I suspect they may have been instant. No flavor and no butter to put on them. The broccolini was the highlight on the plate.
We. We’re late for our reservation by about five minutes because of parking issues. I called the hostess to let her know we were on the way and parking in the adjacent lot.
I was told she couldn’t find our reservation and then when I continued to give the openTable information, she became flustered and put me on hold to never return.
If you make a reservation through this app, call and confirm as well. You don’t want to be left standing at the hostess stand as they tell you they can’t find it and become angry when you show them to confirmation and ask what happened.
There are other restaurants downtown which are really great and have more outdoor seating.
