Our second dining experience was as good as the first. Consistently good service and food. We like the portion size and the wines were perfectly paired. Can’t wait to go back.
The wine was good and the suggested pairing with our lunch was good. The food was average - pot of mussels and a salad. I thought the food was a little over priced. the wine by the glass was priced well.
This was our first dining experience at this cozy neighborhood bistro. We loved the service and the concept. The food was reasonably priced and had great flavors. The steak was perfectly cooked and we had a great time. We already signed up for a wine dinner and will be bringing our friends.
Friday night treat. Made in-house chocolate mousse pie. Ended with Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee and a 1968 Boal Madeira. Fabulous.
It was a bit crowded but enjoyable. The food was nice and I like the small portion sizes. Great selection of wine.
The place looks quaint. The food is way below average so paying what I did for it seemed too much. Bottom line is I'm not going back there.
Good food, cozy atmosphere, great selection of wine, reasonably priced.
Great place to stop last Friday night. Had the Antiquum Juel Vineyard Pinot Noir (great price -not the usual DC inflated price). Fabulous wine recommendation. Doesn't matter if you are dining alone, with friends or on a date - this little gem in Oakton is a must visit.
Without a doubt the Oakton Wine Shop & Bistro should be on every one’s Must Go list. The menu is very creative and well executed. The portion sizes are perfect and encourage sharing multiple items. The ‘by-the-glass’ wine and beer selections are way above average. And most amazing is the price of a full bottle of wine selected from the hundreds of wines on the shelf — just add $9 to the retail price. Compare that to the price doubling (or more) at other dining establishments and you quickly realize this little Bistro in Oakton is THE place to dine for lunch or dinner.
You also will appreciate the smart, knowledgeable and lively staff, and Bryan the owner. They really know how to make you feel at home. The atmosphere is perfect for a quite meal where you can actually carry on a conversation with your table mates. That is one of the great aspects of small neighborhood dining establishments.
And while there, check out the cork art and American Flag made from wooden wine boxes. Got to love it.
Thanks to everyone at Oakton Bistro — we will be among your many regulars!
Food was disappointing. Wedge salad was okay but the bacon appeared to be mircowave turkey bacon. Bacon Tater tots were over fried on the outside but stringy and tough on the inside. The wicked shrimp were okay but really seemed like butter and old bay on shrimp. Scallops lacked seasoning and the risotto was like paste. The mini cupcakes seems like they were baked on Tuesday and served on Saturday.
Our server was very personable and recommended some great wines to accompany our dinners. Maybe to be expected in a wine shop, which had a pleasant atmosphere and a nice selection of music. Especially enjoyed the appetizers, and the small plates were just right. Relatively quiet early pre-theater Saturday night - could enjoy talking with my spouse.
Will have to re-visit to purchase bottles of wine, and enjoy another meal.
An amazing atmosphere with great wine and high quality food. It’s up scale dining with a casual, family/community feel.
The food was delicious. I loved the Boar stove top BBQ! Our server, Connor was super helpful with both the food recommendations and a great Spanish Barbera. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.
Met a friend for dinner. Great place to catch up. The wine pairing with our meal was perfect. Wine, appetizer, dinner all great and a great price too! Sadly they ran out of some popular dishes that evening - guess that means another visit.
Great spot to grab a glass of wine and small plate. The meat plate is perfect. Not too much and just enough to pair with a glass of wine. Try their Maderia. They have a nice selection and it is perfect in the winter months. Ask the owner, Bryan about the Maderia - he knows them well.
Just learned that this wine shop is serving food so stopped in. We shared excellent small plates of spicy shrimp and a perfect sole special of the day with an autumn salad for lunch. The on tap beer selections were intriguing. Our selection was hoppy and delicious. Wines by the glass were much more interesting than usually available although pricey.
Deep selection of excellent wines by the glass and a nice variety of small plates served in a comfortable, friendly neighborhood wine shop setting. This is an unpretentious place for unwinding, following the guidance of knowledgeable staff who will help you find the wine that suits your mood and palate. Seems like the spot for date night, catching up with friends, and just enjoying an easy evening out.
Wonderful selection of wines that pair well with menu. You can pick a bottle right off the shelf. I'm used to the $25 to $35 corkage fee in D.C. restaurant. What a surprise to find out that the OWS corkage fee is $9 -- enough said.
We met with friends for a double-date to catch up after the holidays. This place is so quaint and a hidden gem in the heart of Oakton.
Bryan the owner was an incredible host, gave us all great recommendations and accommodated us with an amazing selection of cheeses, breads, wines, beer and food! Great place for a happy hour after work, first date, or to just hang out with friends.
Thank you for the amazing customer service!
Fantastic wine shop and bistro. Great selection of small plates. Love the ever changing wine flights and the great selection of bottles (which you are surrounded by as you dine). Great knowledgeable service. Loved it!
Wonderful wine selection with extremely knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed the Cheese Plate as our starter and shared the meatballs and Scallops & Risotto. The portions are moderately sized, so this gave us the opportunity to share and taste a variety of cuisines. Enjoy!
OWS & Bistro is a hiden gem in the heart of Oakton. Bryan has some incredible wine flights that you can pair with small plates for a first rate experience. Love it when we get Jeff to wait on our table and give the details on new wines and menu items. Favorites are the cheese plate, Baby Lamb chops and meatball w/ricotta. And since OWS has such a great selection of wine, you can buy a bottle right off the shelf and enjoy it with some terrific appetizers. We always order a few for the table and share. A great place to kick back and enjoy!
Great new spot that I had not been to previously! This place just started using OpenTable and I highly recommend it! They don't have a lot of seating so reservations are great! Great menu and food was excellent! They have a great flight sample of wines that you may never try if you weren't there! Definitely a place to check out if you love wine and great food!
