Service was very slow, food was way over priced (for example, $14 for a side of meatballs) and not very good or worth the money; cocktails were good but a little steep. Overall would not recommend.

Service is slow right now because the two owners are the only ones employed at the moment. So we have to do the work of six people. We do not serve a side of meatballs. The only meatball dish we have is a family style size which includes (5) three ounce meatballs meant to be shared multiple people. Lastly, specialty cocktails range from $9 to $13 which use the best small batch ingredients. We hope you will try us out again when we are not constricted by the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Craig and his team always provide the best executed meals, farm to table, elegantly presented and crafty cocktails! We are frequenters and have always left saying it was the best meal.

They are Covid responsible and every protocol is in place to ensure you have an amazing meal. If you’re ready to go out, give them a try you won’t be disappointed.

Craig OHTB owner is a master at his craft. The food never disappoints. It is always skillfully made, prepared masterfully. Everything is well seasoned and delivered hot.

We started with Blue point oysters and shrimp cocktail (it was a humid night in New Haven) with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Our typical starters.

Our parents had the Bao and Meatballs along with a red wine and a homemade sangria with thinly sliced orange rind. It was their first time to OHTB and they were already raving about the food and service.

The meals of choice were the hanger steak with seasonal veggies and a corn purée that kept you coming back for more, salmon filet with jasmine rice and wilted greens and the homemade ricotta gnocchi with a pesto cream sauce that were pillows of air that melted in your mouth.

Craig consistently checked in and chatted with us as always.

Now if you haven’t had dessert at Oak Haven save room! The seasonal beignets are our favorite. They always appear on the menu but the flavor profiles change. This week they were orange vanilla. They are served warm and doused with powdered sugar. Don’t forget to ask for a side of whipped cream or homemade vanilla bean ice cream for dunking. Your pallet will be asking for more. The special desserts for the night new to menu were a lemon tartlet with a delicious lemon mousse filling and a banana fosters cake. It was beautifully presented in a rum/bourbon sauce that was in every mouthful. No sauce left in the bottom of my bowl!

In the end, if you haven’t tried OHTB get there!!! You will have a fabulous meal and great atmosphere. In the midst of Covid, enjoy sitting outside on state street watching traffic and people. I do suggest making reservations for outside on Open Table. Even when it’s just my husband and I, I do. It secures outdoor seating and if your like us we are just not ready to be indoors eating yet, though I do have to say OHTB is socially distanced inside and well prepared to serve you! Enjoy!!!

Food is always on point at OHTB!! This was our first meal out since COVID. The owner was waiting on us with mask and gloves. We started with The blue point oysters. They were outstanding. so fresh and tender. No grit. We also had the shrimp cocktail!! Jumbo size and great snap! Well worth it. Then we had the PEI mussels in garlic and white wine. You could’ve had lemongrass but we opted for the white wine and garlic! Best PEI mussels we have had in quite sometime. Toasted bread points for the broth so good we asked for a few more slices.
I had the salmon filet with jasmine rice and seasonal veggies my husband had pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto and a jam/glaze on top with fingerling potatoes and seasonal veggies. We both cleared our plates. Food was expertly prepared and well seasoned.
For dessert we had the seasonal beignets which were clementine and the vanilla cake with a chocolate molten center. To die for!!!
Great selection of bourbons which my husband enjoys and I love their barrel aged manhattans.
It was a great first night out with exceptional service and attention to detail. If you haven’t gone you better try OHTB and for us we will be back in a few weeks!!!

Albert and whole staff are wonderful hosts. If you are interested in bourbons, especially rare bourbons or single barrel selections, this is the best place in New Haven.

Disappointing. The lamb chops were good, but served in a bowl with a large portion of polenta. I would have preferred less polenta to be able to get a vegetable. After two tries my vodka martini was still one of the worst I’ve had. This restaurant was not inexpensive and we would have appreciated better service and more balanced plates.

Hands down one of the best farm-to-table beyond delicious meals here in New Haven. LOVE it at Oak Haven. I would eat there every night if I could. Plus bar manager, Dan and his staff are above excellent and can make anything you could only dream of. ♡♡♡

5 shrimp, Cajun seasoning and some Alfredo noodles were $28. What? My glass of house wine was $14. Really? Food tasted great but portions were small and way over priced. I'd rather go somewhere reallyvnice and get big portions for that price like Goodfellas or Omni. Steak tartar was par par.

Brunch on Sunday was poor. Rice balls were not working astute. The pretzel bites were not good nor should they be on a brunch menu. My cousins over medium bacon and eggs looked terrible. The eggs were way over done and golden brown. The bacon not crisp and toast barely toasted and not buttered. My burger was ok nothing special. Service was very friendly and accommodating and I might try it again for dinner although not anytime soon
